6 best control for lawns
Lawn control, in the context of pest control and repellents, refers to the management of various issues that can affect the health and appearance of your lawn. These issues can include pests, weeds, and diseases that may damage your grass and plants. Here are some key aspects of lawn control:
Pest Control: Pests that can damage lawns include insects like grubs, ants, and chinch bugs, as well as rodents like moles and voles. There are various methods and products available for pest control, including chemical pesticides, organic options, and mechanical traps. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a holistic approach that combines multiple strategies to minimize the use of chemicals and promote environmental sustainability.
Weed Control: Weeds can compete with your grass for nutrients, water, and sunlight, leading to a less healthy and attractive lawn. Weed control methods include manual removal, herbicides (both chemical and organic), and the use of pre-emergent herbicides to prevent weed growth.
Disease Control: Lawn diseases can cause discoloration, patchy areas, and overall decline in the health of your grass. Effective disease control may involve proper lawn care practices such as regular mowing, aeration, and watering to prevent disease development. Fungicides can also be used if diseases become a significant problem.
Fertilization: Proper fertilization is essential for maintaining a healthy lawn. It provides essential nutrients to the grass and helps it resist pests and diseases.Fertilization schedules and the type of fertilizer used depend on factors such as grass type, soil quality, and climate.
Watering: Adequate and proper watering is crucial for lawn health. Overwatering and underwatering can both lead to problems. Using a sprinkler system or soaker hoses and following recommended watering schedules can help maintain optimal soil moisture.
Aeration: Lawn aeration involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow better air circulation, water penetration, and root growth. This process can help prevent soil compaction and improve overall lawn health.
Mowing: Proper mowing practices, such as maintaining the correct height for your grass type and using sharp mower blades, can help keep your lawn healthy and discourage pests and weeds.
Soil Testing: Soil testing can provide valuable information about your lawn's nutrient levels and pH. Based on the results, you can adjust your fertilization and soil amendment practices to ensure optimal conditions for your grass.
Organic and Eco-Friendly Options: Many homeowners opt for organic and eco-friendly lawn control methods to minimize the environmental impact of their lawn care. This can include using organic fertilizers, natural pest repellents, and eco-conscious landscaping practices.
When implementing lawn control measures, it's important to consider your specific lawn's needs and the local climate and environmental regulations. Consulting with a professional landscaper or gardening expert can help you create a customized lawn care plan tailored to your lawn's health and your environmental preferences.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will it treat Nercrotic Ring Spot |
Answer: | Unfortunately, it will not Dave. We do not currently have a fungicide on our product line that will eliminate necrotic ring spot. |
Question: | Can I spray when temps are above 90 degrees |
Answer: | Directions specifically mention that you shouldn't. Could ruin/kill other grasses. I spray in the evenings (even late as 8/8:15) when the temperatures are a bit cooler. We've had no issues. This stuff works! |
Question: | Will this kill mushrooms |
Answer: | I had reached out to Bayer/BioAdvanced and their response was "BioAdvanced Fungus Control For Lawns is not formulated to kill mushrooms. The product is only formulated to control listed fungal lawn diseases, such as Brown Patch and Dollar Spot." I tried using this for mushrooms and it does not work. |
Question: | What is the dilution rate? 1 oz. per gallon? 2? 3? 4? I want to use the Ortho Dial 'N Spray sprayer for better control |
Answer: | I wish it did have a dilution rate. Put this stuff in a sprayer that does because out of this bottle it goes FAST. I hooked/sprayed and the bottle was gone in under 2 minutes. |

Question: | how come this is $12 more expensive than the exact thing at home centers |
Answer: | Shipping price is built in to Amazon's listed price. Since Amazon controls the markup via algorithm, sellers often pre-factor shipping into the listed price to ensure Amazon doesn't mark them lower than they choose sell it themselves. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use this in vegetable garden |
Answer: | No strap. Easy to carry by the handle though. |
Question: | will it harm earthworms |
Answer: | I no longer have the box it came but the tank has "20020" in raised plastic written on it. However, in looking at the item listed as 'Chapin 20020" there is a differnce in the wand tip, the spray lever does not lock 'on' (looks like there is a place for piece of plastic to slide for locking), and there may be a few other differences. It may be that Chapin uses the same tank and takes away some bits of plastic to make stripped down models. |
Question: | Can I use with crabgrass preventer |
Answer: | This is NOT the right model for spraying sealers and/or stains. The correct models are 25010, 25012, 25020, and 30600. See the Chapin website. |
Question: | Does this kill Vine Weevil grubs? Thank you |
Answer: | It will vary based on the product you are using so read the directions carefully for every product you spray. But in general, 1 gallon for 1,000 sq. ft. That said, I just used it on a lawn bowling green which is about 14,000 sq. ft. The pesticide I used said 1 gallon to cover 1,000 sq. ft. That would have been 12 gallons to cover the green, but when I had finished I used half that amount. This may have been because I walked too fast (I walked about the pace I do when I spread fertilizer). So, depending on how fast you walk, how comprehensive you want your coverage to be, and what the pesticide label suggest, I would say 1 gallon covers at least 1,000 sq. ft and at most 2,000 sq. ft. I also recommend using a dye/colorant so you can tell where you have sprayed and how think the coverage is. |
