14 best bed bug killers
Bed bug killers, also known as bed bug insecticides, are substances or products specifically designed to eliminate bed bugs from infested areas. They play a crucial role in pest control, particularly in the context of patio lawn and garden spaces. Here's what you need to know about bed bug killers and their relevance to repellents, pest control, and outdoor areas:
Types of Bed Bug Killers:
Chemical Insecticides: These are the most common bed bug killers and are available in various formulations, including sprays, powders, and liquids. Chemical insecticides contain active ingredients that are toxic to bed bugs. They can be applied directly to infested areas or surfaces where bed bugs are known to hide.
Natural and Organic Options: Some bed bug killers are formulated with natural or organic ingredients, making them a less toxic alternative for pest control. These may include essential oils, diatomaceous earth, or other plant-based compounds.
Heat Treatments: While not a traditional "killer" in the sense of chemicals, heat treatments involve raising the temperature of infested areas to levels that are lethal to bed bugs. This method is effective for both indoor and outdoor spaces.
Repellents and Preventive Measures:
Bed bug repellents are products designed to deter bed bugs from approaching or infesting an area. While repellents may not be as effective at killing bed bugs as insecticides, they can help prevent infestations.
In patio, lawn, and garden settings, using bed bug repellents on outdoor furniture, cushions, and other items can help deter these pests from taking up residence in your outdoor space.
Application and Safety:
When using bed bug killers, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. This includes wearing appropriate protective gear, ensuring proper ventilation, and applying the product according to recommended guidelines.
Keep in mind that some bed bug killers may have residual effects, which means they continue to kill bed bugs for a period after application. This can be useful in preventing re-infestations.
Professional Pest Control:
- In severe infestations, or if you're dealing with bed bugs in outdoor areas that are difficult to treat effectively on your own, it's advisable to seek the assistance of professional pest control services. They have access to a range of treatments and equipment to handle bed bug infestations in various settings.
In conclusion, bed bug killers are essential tools in the fight against bed bug infestations, and they can be relevant for pest control in patio, lawn, and garden areas. It's essential to choose the right type of killer for your needs, follow safety guidelines, and consider preventive measures to keep your outdoor spaces free from these troublesome pests.

User questions & answers
Question: | How often can I use hot sho |
Answer: | I live in a high roach/bug infested neighborhood. The first 2 years we didn't have any problems in our place, however for the last 2 years, the bugs are just getting worse. I plan to use this product as directed and repeat in a couple of weeks and just keep going until the bugs are gone. |
Question: | Do you have to unplug your refrigerator before using these foggers? (yes I'll be doing the kitchen |
Answer: | Bed Bugs are hard to kill and in order for this to be guaranteed you need to use it over and over several times in the entire house. We contacted a pest control company and they insisted that WE move all the furniture out of any rooms WE needed treated, WE wash all our clothing, towels, throws, and anything else on high heat and dry on high heat, WE remove our carpet and then after WE had done all that the pest control company would charge over a thou$and dollars. More like $1,500. And then they would come back once in 2 weeks and retreat and not guarantee it after that. In other words, You do all the work and they come in with sprays that are far more deadly than what I can buy and spray. But still no real guarantee. If I have to do all the work and still no guarantee, I'm going to do the work and use these bed bug bombs for several months (2 weeks apart) and get a superior job (including new flooring) than would be worth the "pro" coming in. And yes. The pest control company will tell you it doesn't work because they need a couple thou$and dollar$ out of you. |
Question: | If my pilot for the water heater is in the basement and I'm not using the fogger there, do I have to shut if off |
Answer: | I didn't turn any of my pilots or water heater off so I don't think you need to worry |
Question: | Will it going to kill eggs? Bedbug |
Answer: | It appears to be more steroids rather than extermination. I have used 150 cans, the powder, and the gallon plastic containers for a number of years. Diatimatious Earth works on crawling insects including Bed Bugs but will not get to the eggs. The food grade powder is available in 1 pound bags through Amazon. Not only does it dehydrate bags that crawl across but has safe, medicinal value through human ingestions. The foggers leave a residue on everything. The air with the fog is most unpleasant for me but the Bed Bugs appear to love it. The low sticky boards are much better but an insect or rodent must crawl across the board. I have more than 50 of the cardboard three pack boxes left. I placed the fogger on the opened (flattened) boxes. Then discard the card board after a few uses. After possible 4-5 years I just finished with the last gallon liquid Hot Shot Bedbug container and started with an other product I purchased on Amazon. Very expensive but if it works will actually be cheap in total dollar cost. The D.E. powder is something you can ingest if food grade but you will need masks and a separate vacuum as the D.E. will clog a regular vacuum. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this safe to use around pets? (cats to be exact |
Answer: | This product can be confidently used in the home and around people and pets. We would recommend that children and pets be kept out of the area while the product is being applied. This product is not intended for consumption or to be used directly on an animal's skin. |
Question: | After dusting, how does one clean it up? Do you simply vacuum it up?? And how long do you wait to clean |
Answer: | To clean up the dust on a solid surface, a damp cloth can be used. The product can also be vacuumed using a filterless vacuum or a shop vac. |
Question: | How do you make insects eat this thing? Do you mix it with sugar or fat to make palatable for bugs |
Answer: | This product is not intended to be mixed with anything. To apply, sprinkle the powder lightly in areas where insect activity has been noticed. The insects will crawl through the product, which will cut up their exoskeletons, causing them to dehydrate and die. Insects may consume some of the product, which will also cause them to dehydrate as well. |
Question: | Is this food grade |
Answer: | This product is a registered insecticide and is not considered food grade. |

Safer Brand Diatomaceous Earth - Ant, Bedbug and Crawling Insect Killer
Safer Brand Diatomaceous Earth is a stain-free, powder-like product specifically lethal to crawling insects. Made with diatomaceous earth, this versatile and dual-action formula quickly kills a wide range of insects by touch and by ingestion. Best of all, Safer Brand Diatomaceous Earth is registered with the Environmental Protection Agency, and when applied as directed won’t have adverse effects on humans or the environment.
Apply confidently indoors or outdoors: simply sprinkle the non-staining powder across infested areas, making sure to cover every crack and crevice where insects may travel. It will begin to work in just minutes and completely kill crawling insects in as little as 48 hours.
Microscopic Particles Kill From the Inside and Out
Safer Brand Diatomaceous Earth (D.E.) is composed of crushed fossilized fresh-water algae - aka diatoms. While soft to a human’s touch, D.E. particles have microscopic, razor-sharp edges that effectively penetrate and cut open an insect’s delicate exoskeleton to dehydrate it from the outside. D.E. is also very dry and porous, so when an insect ingests the powder, it quickly absorbs the insect’s moisture and dries it out from the inside. As long as the product remains dry, it remains effective. What’s more, because of how Safer Brand Diatomaceous Earth works, insects cannot grow immune to it - you’ll never have to switch insect-killers again.
Kitchens and Living Areas
Coat a thin layer of dust underneath and behind appliances, furniture, doorways, windowsills and other cracks and hiding places around the home.
Attics, Basements and Garages
Apply in every nook and cranny of infested areas to completely eradicate insects and end the breeding cycle.
Beds and Mattresses
Dust onto every inch and crevice of your bed and mattress to kill off bedbugs.
Exteriors, Patios and More
Use in outdoor areas along entryways and exterior windows to kill insects before they enter the home.
The Safer Brand Philosophy
One of the world's leading brands in organic insect control, organic plant disease control and organic gardening products for over 20 years, Safer Brand is dedicated to offer the broadest and deepest selection of quality insect control and plant disease control products at competitive prices.
Sprinkle Directly Where Insects Live
Safer Brand Diatomaceous Earth kills a variety of crawling insects including bedbugs, cockroaches, earwigs, grasshoppers, ants, crickets, millipedes, centipedes, silverfish, carpet beetles, fleas, and more. For quick results, apply directly to cracks and crevices inside and outside your home, hitting these insects directly where they live and breed.
Coat a thin layer of dust underneath and behind appliances, furniture, doorways, windowsills and other hiding places throughout your kitchen and living areas. And if you see any insects while you’re applying, make sure you sprinkle D.E. directly on them for further benefit. Don’t forget to apply in nooks and crannies of attics, basements and garages as these places are known hotspots that many crawling insects love to hide in.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I spray this on bedsheets |
Answer: | Yes you can. I spray it on hotel sheets before I get in the bed and it doesn't cause any kind of irritation. |
Question: | Will this kill fleas too |
Answer: | I used this product on and around my bed and also my dogs bedding and believe it did kill fleas also. No bites on me, no scratching by dogs. |
Question: | How much is needed to get rid of the bedbugs |
Answer: | Thanks for your question! The level of infestation and number of beds infested will play a large role in determining the answer to your question. If you have one room that has a problem and you have for example a queen size bed. 1 bottle should be all you need with a fair amount left over. This will take into account spraying down beds, box spring, and around furniture and carpet. The larger the bed and room the more product you will need. 2 may be better for a king size bed and larger room. Please contact us with any other questions!Thank you!-Eco Defense |
Question: | Is there anyone, who has not received this product to reivew, who can tell me if this product works? Thank you |
Answer: | This is often mistaken for EcoRaider, which has better reviews & is used & endorsed by many professional exterminators & rated best on a number of review sites. We used this once (2 bottles & repeated 2 weeks later) with mixed results. We have had 2 other infestations in other apartments & 2 bottles of EcoRaider did the job 100%. Buy by the gallon if you can & treat a second time 2 weeks later. Also, bedbugs only bite certain people but ignore others. I would never have even known we had infestations if my wife hadn't come down with a number of bites. EcoRaider is also less expensive for 16 ounces at about $15.95 for 16 ounces. Last November it was only $12.95 (I don't know if EcoRaider raised its price or Amazon did - a lot of Amazon products are now as much as 25% more expensive than the same ones I can get at Target & Walmart (which also offer free 2-day delivery to your door without an annual Prime fee!). |

About Harris

In 1924, two years after its founding, the company tackled the Calvin Coolidge White House, which had been overrun for years by roaches and water bugs. User questions & answers
Question: | Is this product safe for my small dog |
Answer: | Hello, we also have the Bed Bug Killer 2oz travel size bottles . |
Question: | Not sure if we have fleas or bed bugs, but will this kill fleas if we have those with the bed bugs |
Answer: | You can use this product to end bed bugs anywhere. Since it is non-toxic and non-staining. You can certainly spry inside the car, which we always recommend as part of your treatment. Many people only treated room without treating the car, ended up in re-infestation. |
Question: | Help me, does this product work? I only see a few every now and then. And Tips |
Answer: | Usually the critters hide somewhere within about 10 feet of the bed (and many times in the mattress/bed). I bought the gallon size, and with a pressure sprayer, sprayed the entire perimeter of the room, walls, cracks, ceiling, and all outlets/furnace vents first (to kill them if they "scatter"). I then dusted, pretty heavily with diatomaceous earth on all flat surfaces and especially under the bed (to kill them if they walk along the floor). Covered the mattress and box spring with a bed-bug proof cover. Washed all bed linens/clothes/soft goods in "HOT" washer, or at least a 40 minute "HOT dryer treatment. Then sprayed all the bedframe, nightstands, dressers, etc. with EcoRaider. Every two weeks I reapplied the EcoRaider and I didn't vacuum up the diatomaceous earth dust under the bed. Look on YouTube and the EcoRaider website for suggested protocol to follow. They are really easy to kill, but amazingly smart at hiding out and avoiding all treatments, so you have to be diligent. |
Question: | Why does harris include here both the diatomaceous earth powder, and also the silica powder? when do i use each? or both? in separate places or same p |
Answer: | Nothing. Bed bugs do not like the scent of lavender and they would avoid it; however, if you have bed bugs just pay to exterminate of purchase Eco Raider. I bought this for someone who had a "light" case. She started having bites from bed bugs in 1 room. She used this for 1 week and they are gone. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would this cause harm to my pet chinchilla |
Answer: | Theoretically, if it were firmly mounted on a surface and if a tire rolled over it just right, it could puncture the tire. The spikes are not a sharpened point however. If one of these were laying on the ground and you ran over it by accident, I imagine it would simply flatten out. I would not mount these anywhere a car or bike tire would normally be found though as it could be dangerous to animals or children. |

Answer: | Hello, it can prevent rabbits from staying in the places where you set up obstacles. But if you want to prevent rabbits from entering, you need to install them in parallel layers, because rabbits will skip over single layer barriers. |

What problems does the device solve?
Pest Repeller is an effective, safe and long-lasting device that will solve your pest problem and will prevent all diseases transmitted by pests. It emits Ultrasonic, Electromagnetic and Bionic pulses that expel ALL types of Insects and Pests including cockroaches, bed bugs, fleas, rats, mice, mosquitoes, midges and many others.
Our CRUELTY-Free technology doesn’t kill pests, it makes the conditions for them intolerable and they naturally leave the area. No dead Pests in your home!
Say GOOD BYE to unwanted guests in your house!
Step 1
After reading the instruction plug in the repeller into an electric outlet
Step 2
During the usage make sure that nothing covers the device or blocks ultrasonic waves
Step 3
Within 3-4 weeks of continuous usage you will see the maximum effect. Additional units - quicker result!
How it works?
Pest Repeller produces Ultrasonic, Electromagnetic and Bionic waves which drive pests out of your home. Different frequency of sound (from 20 to 40 kHz) it mean that pests will never adapt to the pulses and will not stay at your home.
Pest Repeller is the safest and the best alternative to chemical repellents, poison spray or traps that damage people. The technology doesn’t harm humans and pets but it only influences pests.
Because ultrasonic waves do not penetrate walls it’s most effective to use one repeller per room.
For the best result we recommend using 1 repeller for 600-800 sq Ft. Use 2 or more units for areas bigger than 1800 sq ft. to see result more quickly.
Tip 1
Use at least 1 unit in each room. (For an area bigger than 1800 sq Ft use an additional unit)
Tip 2
Do not cover the appliance with furniture or curtains
Tip 3
Use 2 or more appliances on opposite walls to reduce blind zones
Tip 4
Clean the room as often as possible in the first month of usage to block any source of food for pests

User questions & answers
Question: | Any reason I shouldn't put this on my mattress cover before sleeping |
Answer: | Hey, so one pouch is supposed to cover 500sq ft and if I know this right, an RV’s space is less than 450sq ft., so you should not need more than one rat repellent pouch. You can use two if you want, keeping both at extreme corners of the RV. |
Question: | How often can I apply mgk crossfire in my house |
Answer: | This product only promises to effectively repel all kinds of rodents, but most dominantly helps repel rats. So, to answer your question, no it does not kill possums. |
Question: | Where can I buy this in Canada |
Answer: | This product claims to be safe to use around both young children and pets, so you shouldn’t be worrying about it. Plus if they aren’t ingesting the thing, which is unlikely to happen, but if they do, it will be a good idea to call your vet. But the ingredients are all naturally derived and the only chemical compound it has is a surfactant(sodium lauryl sulphate). |
Question: | Can i use everyday |
Answer: | If you are looking to kill rats, you may need something a little on the pesticide side and not a repellent. This product will only repel bad smell, repel rats and keep your store safe without using any harsh or toxic chemicals, therefore it is an ideal choice for you if you are a grocery shop owner. |

Answer: | It's very safe, you can spray it on your mattress, on the floor, anywhere they can hide. If you've seen two adults there could be hundreds of nymphs in your upholstery and rug. Spray rug under bed, inspect and spray all matters and box springs seams, inside and any hiding places in furniture. Etc. I have two cats. It didn't affect them at all but kills the bugs affectively |
Question: | Does this have a sprayer |
Answer: | I did not get the larger one, but the smaller one has a pump on it. You can get a bottle from the dollar store and just pour some in it. The stuff works great!! |
Question: | does ecoraider have retentivity i.e. does the effect last after spraying ? if it does, how does it achieve its retentivity |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this have a residual effect |
Answer: | It does leave a slight tackiness when sprayed on the floor; however when fully dried there's no problem. As far as on fabric; no it doesn't leave any residue. Works great by the way. |
Question: | What is the difference between the black label spray & the yelloe bottle of Harris spray |
Answer: | The one that works best is the black label that's egg kill & resistant. I tried both and the one labeled pyrethroid resistant is by far the best. |
Question: | Is it eco fiendly |
Answer: | Probably not. Just don't inhale large quantities when applying or make a habit of breathing it when it hasn't dried on the surface it's sprayed on. It's quite odorless. |
Question: | So what is the actual product you are selling here? The pics seem useless for determining what the actual product is that is being sold |
Answer: | I cannot say what is in the bottle. I can say it is very good at getting of bed bugs. We had a visitor one time that left his bed bugs with us. We tried everything we could find in the retail market...……...no good, we still had the bugs. Finally I said enough is enough. I invested $50.00 in a gallon of the "Harris Pyrethroid Resistant" bed bug killer. Before using this I would see bed bugs in different rooms of the house; within 2 weeks of spraying the house bed bugs were reduced greatly. There has not been a bug in and around the beds for over a month. Can't say I have gotten rid of all bugs yet, but working on it. This spray is well worth the money. You will like the results. |
