Answer:	It seems to come with some sort of light finish or light stain already applied, so not sure painting would be a good option. You would probably have to sand it down to the bare wood first, or at least rough it up a bit. Before I assembled mine, I brought the table top and benches down to my basement and applied seven coats of prime exterior urethane to the top surfaces. Seems to help. Didn't touch the rest of it as it's already a decent color.

Answer:	I haven't used it yet. I had just zip tied a bag of moth balls to each of the 2 flat metal plates below the hood ?hinges? thingies when I saw these. I bought them not knowing how long the moth balls would last, so they are in the box, driving around with me. Mothballs also drove the rodents out of my basement so I assume they will discourage them from my engine compartment. Good luck!
