I've been sleeping on mine alone, I'm nowhere near 500 lbs, and it's falling apart in every conceivable way after about 4 months. Answer:	Description says it is made of hemlock wood (similar to pine) with a natural fir finish. The fir finish looks like a very light shade of stain.
