Getting a solid fit of the handle on the files is not an issue with our wood handle. All you have to do is place the file in the hole, place the file on a flat surface with the handle pointing up and give the handle a nice tap and it will be nice and secure. • Place the File Guide over the cutter with the file in the gullet (between the cutter and the depth gauge)

• After every third or fourth saw chain sharpening, check the height of the saw chain depth gauges by placing the Depth Gauge Tool on the saw chain cutters near the midpoint of the chainsaw guide bar

• If a saw chain depth gauge extends above the slot in the Depth Gauge Tool, file it until it is level with the tool
• File the leading edge of depth gauges until they are round

Question:	how do you use this gage
Answer:	You take the gage and hold it with the hooked part just in front of a tooth, exposing the risers in the center of the gage, so you don't take a chance of hitting the tooth with the file. Hold the gage down and against the tooth. Then just file off the riser down to the flat area on the gage. It is best to brace the chain on something to keep it from moving while you are working. Also use the gage in the middle area of the chain, on the top of course, as the depth of the risers will change as you get to the end of the chain and you might just file off too much of the risers. Once you use it you will never forget again. It is very easy to use, once done. Best of cutting luck to you.

Question:	Will this work on a ripping chain
Answer:	I have been using this same tool for chainsaw milling for many years and it is the one I prefer. I like it because the slot is in the middle so you can use the same hand to hold the file on both sides of the chain. I also prefer .025" gauge for milling. I find that it tends to give a smooth finish more consistently than lower depth gauges. I've also tried .030", .040", and .045" and I usually use this one at .025" until the chain gets below half life, then I go to .030". That is my preference and this is my favorite for milling.

Answer:	I would say that if u push or pull on it hard enough that it might move around. I put mine out close to the end of the blade. Look for where maybe reinforcements could be by the outer roller bearing. I’m no expert but I would say just don’t get to close to bearing. Or get in the very center of bearing. I know my chainsaw wrench fit the turn handle. U can use it to snug it up a little tighter. That would probably fix ur problem
