Answer:	I was told by the manufacturer it is only IPS 65 rated. I found this out when I tried to find a target in 6” of water and it immediately started going crazy. I then noticed when I took the battery out it had leaked. It wasn’t in the water for more than 10 seconds when it happened. The manufacturer stated that it is only water proof if you were to drop it in the water and immediately pick it up. In my opinion that is water resistant not water proof.

One of my golf buddies lost his wedding band in some leaf-covered dirt and we found it with this device, but it was just barely under the surface. Someone had stepped on it and pressed it just barely out of sight. I feel confident that if it was an inch below the surface we would not have gotten a signal. You almost have to have a large loop "treasure finder" to get more depth.

And yes, even in water this baby will let u know if u are near metal objects.
