Answer:	If you crank up the discrimination, it will work fine. You will miss some things, especially iron, but I have found lots of coins and jewelry at the beach with mine.

Answer:	Yes, as long as you consider the conveyor system metal below the item you are scanning. If you get too close to the floor while scanning people you can pick up re bar in the floor for a false reading.
