When comparing different gases, you will discover that they required different amounts of air for complete combustion. To burn properly LPG (Propane) requires an air-to-gas volume ratio of about 24:1. For Butane, it is about 31:1. Natural gas (Methane) requires an air-to-gas volume ratio of about 10:1. Incomplete combustion also results in hazardous carbon monoxide: Less Oxygen

You will also need 1/2" black pipe sections so suit your installation and a fitting to get from 1/2 pipe to the fitting on the control hose. Take it to your local hardware, they will have the fitting. I converted a chiminea to propane. Used 1- 6" nipple 1- elbow, air mixer, 1- 6" nipple, adapter to control hose. Works great

Answer:	We dug a shallow hole and dropped a flat square ( so water drains easily) sheet of metal in to build the fire on. Not needed, but we have done this once before with good results. The ring itself it above ground surrounded by brick.

Answer:	Yes, it should fit comfortably if you turn the fire pit so that the legs are aligned with the corners of the deck defender. The fire pit has four legs that form a square or diamond pattern. If you think of each leg as sitting at the corner of the square, the distance between the two on the same side of the square is a bit over 20" and the diagonal distance between the two legs on opposite sides of the table is just under 29" (the distances are with regard to the curved metal legs and would be about an inch less if you leave the leveling legs attached). The diagonal distance between corners on a 26"x26" deck defender will be just under 37", so you should be fine as long as you orient the fire pit legs to sit in those corners. In other words, the footprint of the square the fire pit legs form is smaller than the square of the 26"x26" deck defender.

Question:	can anyone recommend a good cover for this fire pit? I've read mixed reviews for the original landmann's cover. Which size should I go for
Answer:	Go to Lowe's (or similar), buy a grill cover (round). It will last a year or so for about $8. The fancy ones last 18 months and cost me $35-40 before I figured this out. The grill covers are black, fairly flimsy, and not pretty, but they do the job.

Answer:	Officially I cannot say. Unofficially, I absolutely would not cook on this grate until you build a raging inferno below and on top of and vigorously wire brush afterwards. Then, do it again. And again... Really well built product however. I only wish it was about 3” taller on the ring size so it could be sunk deeper into the ground.
