Answer:	It comes with an electronic starter, but it doesn't seem to work reliably, if at all. (We only got it to work once). It's easy enough to light it with a lighter if this is your experience as well.

Answer:	As far as I can tell you have to make it yourself. I went to Home Depot and bought an 18"x18" ceramic tile, drilled holes in it and attached 2 drawer handles for ease of lifting off. A 20"x20" would fully cover the pit, but I wanted something that just went to the edge. I like this because when not using the fire pit you can use that as table space.

Answer:	Mine won’t light anymore. I push the switch in and have to hold it pushed in, it will stay lit with my pushing in of the switch. As soon as I let go the flame goes out. Piece of junk. I like everything else about this, but the manufacturer fell short on the switch design/capability. So now I have a usless fire pit that I can’t have fires on. Wonderful!

Answer:	I figure about 14-16 inches. 12-inch stove-length wood is too short to span between the horizontal 2x4's, but not by much. I usually cut a bunch of longer pieces for the bottom layer, to span the 2x4's, and then stack my 12-inch stove-length pieces on top of that "base."

Answer:	Yes' they'll hold 12" long wood but I suggest 16"-18", I cut mine 20" since I have a boxwood stove I can fit longer pieces in. But the 2 2x4's at bottom are close enough to hold a 12" piece but I might not stack to 4ft high as a traditional rick would be as the stack would be unstable with that short of wood but not really a wood rack issue more of a wood length issue.

Answer:	These valves are pretty universal. The main components are the same in all firepits. Rust and corrosion is a main issue. Make sure before buying the replacement that you can remove the existing valve without too much difficulty. Pits left out in the elements without a cover may be too rusted out. Have a couple of good adjustable wrenches and some penetrating oil to help with dis-assembly. Take pictures to help with re-assembly and you shouldn't have any problems.

HOW TO SAVE ON THE COST OF YOUR FIRE GLASS

Lava Rock is inexpensive when compared to fire glass. You could use a one inch deep lava rock layer to initially cover your burner pan. This will reduce the glass depth needed by one inch. This can be applied to any fire pit or fireplace, no matter what size and make a considerable saving over the cost of using fire glass throughout.

Using lava rock as a base material does have a single draw back. It will cause some soot build up on your fire glass. So periodically you may need to remove your fire glass and rinse off the soot. Be sure to allow the glass to completely dry before placing it back over the lava rock.

Answer:	This particular log set comes as a "Match Lit" kit, which means that the only way to light it is to use a match while turning on the gas with your key valve. To turn the unit on using your wall switch requires purchasing a switchable auto pilot safety kit. This type of valve can be obtained directly from an RH Peterson dealer and can be installed after the fact if lighting with a match/gas lighter becomes inconvenient.

Answer:	What you are buying includes the remote and the receiver. I ordered mine as a replacement for a remote that had been damaged. In my case, the receiver was already in place and had been professionally installed with the fireplace and I simply had to pair the new remote with the existing receiver. Installing the receiver from scratch would require some knowledge and effort. It doesn't appear to be incredibly complicated, but it's not just plug and play. In my case, you'd have to remove the entire fireplace insert just to get to the location where you need to wire in the receiver. It's possible that other stoves and inserts make this more accessible, but mine is buried way underneath.

Answer:	the ember effect is created by adding a cotton-like substance to the sand. If you don't want the ember effect you can scale back or not add any.

Answer:	Hi. The logs, when stacked according to the directions for ideal airflow, are flat on the back so, no. It doesn’t look good from both sides. Also the slope of the ember tray wouldn’t view well from the back. Pretty happy with their product though. Hope you find the right one for your setup.
