User questions & answers

Question: Will this fit tetra pond bio-active pressure filter with uv clarifier
Answer: Thanks for asking! This 18-watt bulb will fit the BP2500 - UV. We hope this helps! For more help please contact Tetra at [email protected]. We are happy to help you!
Question: If the bulb has black spots on them are they burnt out
Answer: If it is black down where the pins are, it may be, yes. However, that can also indicate it is getting old. Change the bulb every season if you live in areas where you do not have freezing weather and use it year round, or every other season if you do have winters.
Question: Will this bulb fit an Oase Vitronic
Answer: Not that we know of, no, it fits the Tetra GreenFree Clarifier UVC-18.
Question: Ok, We have purchased 3 of these. 2 of them have burnt out immediatly! We'd like to know why? Before we put in the last back up
Answer: There are a few possibilities. One is that the ballast is bad or old. Another is that perhaps the bulb is the wrong wattage for the unit. You could have water getting into the unit as well so once you fire it up, it fries the bulb. Please let me know if I can be of more help! If you provide me with detailed information on the set up, I might be able to give more personalized, specific help.

User questions & answers

Question: We have a smaller 125g pond with a huge algae bloom. Would we need to run this continuously or just once in a while
Answer: We appreciate your interest in this product! It needs to run 24/7 during the warmer months, but you store it during colder months. If you live somewhere that has freezing weather it can crack if left outside.
Question: Is there a -minimum- gph recommended for the 5 watt unit? or for the 9 watt unit? i have a small pond, but many algae troubles
Answer: Great question Mary! The ideal flow rate is 50% of your total pond volume per hour through the UV. So if you have a 1,000 gallon size pond, for example, you want to move 500 gph through the light. In the event your flow rate is greater than 50% of the pond volume in order to create a powerful waterfall or generate more filtration, go up a size in UV lights. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Question: Has anyone had their Tetra seperate in half. It is actually 2 halves glued together and it leaks no matter how hard I push it back together
Answer: I have had 2 units and neither split in half. I had the clear chamber break. Are you sure this wasn't due to being left in a situation where it was subject to freezing?
Question: Will the glass tube inside crack during frozen winter
Answer: I pull mine out and shut down my pond for the winter as the cold weather will not typically allow an algae problem. I do aerate about once a month for the fish. I have a submerged defroster that kicks on at 32 degrees and off at 34 degrees. The fish pretty much go dormant at these temps. My pond is 120 gallon and is ABOVE ground. I am in Michigan and we had temps in the -20 degrees actual this winter. During January and most of February the Pond was snowed over with a small hole that the submerged heater seemed to keep clear. I just went our and looked. The fish are still alive (very lethargic) and I can see the bottom of the pond. The water is a little murky. My pond is only abut 2 feet deep. I realize this is a lot more information than you were asking, but I wish someone would have told me this when I first started my pond. This is my 3rd year. This TetraPond UVC made all the difference in keeping my pond clear. Prior to getting it, I had to 'overfill' (Because it is above ground, it would overflow until I had all fresh water in it.) my pond about every 2-3 weeks. I have a large canister filter and a waterfall with a filter. Those filters did not keep the algae and green water from emerging. This is what worked all summer for me. Now, my pond is in direct summer afternoon sunlight from about noon until about 8:00 PM. Again, sorry if this is too much information, but I thought you might like to know.

User questions & answers

Question: The cap where you replace the lightbulb cracked fully around and caused water to pour out. Has anyone had this problem? Why would this happen
Answer: This definitely is not an issue that is commonly reported. Contact our team for help at 1-800-526-0650.
Question: the UV for $139 is this a 18 watt?? it does not specify
Answer: I bought the 9 watt for ponds up to 1800 gal...I think that is about what I paid in Dec 2013.
Question: What diameter hose or tubing do I need to connect to a pump
Answer: You can see from the picture that it accepts different sized tubing. The smallest size is 1" diameter. Unfortunately, my pump uses 1/2" tubing so I had to jimmy-rig a transition from my pump's 1/2" tubing to 1" tubing that I then connected to the UV filter.
Question: Is the filter come with everythings, included the UV light
Answer: This includes the UV light bulb. Enjoy

Answer: no, mounts to the fountain head
Question: Will this work in a five foot deep pond
Answer: This is a small fountain ... the depth of the pond will not affect it, but if you are talking about a very large pond, especially a large natural mud bottom pond, this is the not fountain for you as it will clog up and look very insignificant in a large pond. Sincerely, Nate at practical Garden Ponds 484-356-5351

User questions & answers

Question: Will it fit on a 9inch spill way waterfall
Answer: It will not fit exactly as it is approximately 12" long, but you can definitely center it if you like, and it will work for you.
Question: Its very blue, but it dosent make the water blue. What is the best way to have a waterfall light up
Answer: I'm not sure I understand the question. This light is not intended to make the water a certain color, but is just to highlight the waterfall itself.
Question: How does this connect to the waterfall container
Answer: It depends on your waterfall. The unit does come with a few clips that can be used in different configurations - My waterfall is all natural stone, not a plastic container. I have the lights and clips wedged in-between Rocks. it's been going for about a year now (all winter long) and no problems.
Question: Does anyone know if this LED is battery powered or plug-in
Answer: Hi Tasha, We don't actually sell the Tetra brand of this light, but the ProEco, Atlantic, and Pond Boss lights that we sell that are similar all wire up to a low voltage transformer that plugs into a regular household 110v receptacle. I am pretty certain this is the same. Nate at Practical Garden ponds 484-356-5351
