Answer:	Well mine got knocked down by heavy wind and the clear cover cracked. I took it off and Im using it without the cover for now. Bought a cheaper basic one at Target for under 15 dollars and its nicer and better built. This one is off by 3 degrees.

Question:	Can it be calibrated
Answer:	No but there is a solution. The little bracket that the coil spring is mounted to on the back can be rotated to align the needle to the correct temperature. There’s a small amount of glue that may need to be to separated between bracket and backing plate but for example on mine the glue was already separated, probably causes rotation during transportation. Simply rotate that coil bracket which is connected to the needle to the correct temperature, mine was still tight but you could add a drop of glue to secure it if needed.
Question:	Is this safe in garage
Answer:	Unless you are in Jay Leno's garage, why do you need an 18" thermometer that can be seen from 100' away???
Question:	Is the metal coil that operates the thermometer enclosed in any way? The open coil on our current one gets water in it and freezes, which keeps it from reading the temp accurately. We live in a very cold climate
Answer:	It works great...I have had temps down to 14 below and as high at 120 throughout the years that I have had this model...it works great...even in the freezing winters of NY--it has never frozen...I can't get to it to tell you if the coil is enclosed or not, it is out of reach, and I don't remember...but, I would buy this one again if a wind storm took this one away...it could happen...lol...It is the best one I have found over the years...nice big clear numbers...you will love it...
Question:	I want the back to have no plastic. Where the screws go must be all solid metal.Is the Back Metal or Plastic
Answer:	The back is aluminum / metal, there are 2 tabs to mount the unit, both are aluminum. One tab is located at the top center and the other tab on the bottom center. These tabs are not shown on the photo, but are able to easy to put out to allow the mounting with either screws or nails. I used screws. My only other advise - keep the clear plastic cover waxed, otherwise over the years, the cover yellows. I usually clean the plastic face cover twice per year with a simply soap and water. In the Spring and just before our cold Northern NY Winter apply a good coat of car wax acceptable to plastic.

Use two screws or nails (not included) to securely mount the thermometer. Place the top screw approximately 1” below where you would like the top of the thermometer and leave 3/16” of the screw head out. Place the top keyhole over the screw and slip down to secure. Bend the bottom hanger down to expose the keyhole and use a screw to mount securely.

Please make sure that you are using standard alkaline batteries from a high-quality brand in both units, then perform the following reset. Please follow the steps carefully as the order is crucial to the success of the reset. Hard Reset: 1. Bring both the sensor and display unit together and power down by removing all batteries from each and/or removing the power cord. 2. Reinstall the batteries in the outdoor sensor. 3. Once the batteries are inserted you should see the red LED light blink approx. every 18 seconds on the front of the sensor. The red LED light should NOT stay on continuously. 4. Reinstall batteries and/or power cord into the display unit. 5. Let the units sit within a couple of feet of each other for approximately 5 minutes or until you see a solid sensor signal. Answer:	I'm almost certain it does. I bought this unit for our camper at the sportsmans club in Washington county ,Pa. If I remember correctly it does give you info according to moon fazes & direction of the sun. It's been a while since I've been there but the guys actualy use it to help predict the rut season for deer hunting.

Question:	What size replacement movement works with this clock? Like the clock but the movement quit
Answer:	Kathy, I had problems with my AcuRite keeping the correct temperature. My ordered one for me and one for my neighbor. Our temps varied by 4 to 5 degrees and finally mine started saying it was 151 degrees outside and sometimes 35 degrees outside when it was in the high 90s. I finally replaced it with a La Crosse Technology unit, but had trouble with it too, but after contacting their customer service, I think I have it working properly.

Question:	How long do the batteries last
Answer:	Assuming basic, alkaline batteries, performance depends very much on temperature. Below about 10 Celsius (50F) capacity begins to drop off. My experience is batteries will last about 5 weeks if the temperature stays above freezing. Sensor position matters too. My sensor is about 12 meters from the receiver, and the signal has to pass through 5 wood frame walls.
