Answer:	Assuming basic, alkaline batteries, performance depends very much on temperature. Below about 10 Celsius (50F) capacity begins to drop off. My experience is batteries will last about 5 weeks if the temperature stays above freezing. Sensor position matters too. My sensor is about 12 meters from the receiver, and the signal has to pass through 5 wood frame walls.

Question:	Is this thermometer waterproof
Answer:	That's what I bought it for as well. Had it clipped to my hammock suspension this past weekend and it recorded a Min temperature of 5°F and a Max for the day of 17°F. The manufacturer's website lists a temp range of -4 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit. I'll be picking up a second one to keep inside my shelter to get a feel for the climate differences.In response to some posts about it being inaccurate, we had this and another thermometer hanging on a tree limb (both out of the direct sun) about 15 yards away. Both were within 1 degree of each other all day and into the night when we went to bed around 1:30am. I will second the battery comment though. I pulled the battery protector strip on a new unit at around 1pm before driving to the campsite. About 5pm it already had a low battery indicator. However, it is still kicking on the same battery. A spare battery might be handy, but it's not exactly a critical piece of gear so much as just a convenience / data collecting item.

Max/Min records reflect the minimum and maximum temperature recorded since the unit was powered on, since the batteries were changed or since it was manually reset (whichever was most recent).

To view the MAX/MIN record, press the MAX/MIN/CLEAR once, the MAX icon and MIN icon appears on the display.

To reset the MAX/MIN records, press and hold the MAX/MIN/CLEAR for 3 second. Dashes will display to confirm all values have been cleared.
