Answer:	I had some on the ground around the feeder and did see the mallards eating it.

Answer:	I do not have weeds under my tray feeder. However, I only put a handful of seeds in the tray feeder once a day. The birds usually eat all the seed - if seeds drop on the ground they are eaten by the birds.

Answer:	I haven't used that seed since 2017. There is always a chance for seeds to sprout if there are no birds or squirrel to clean it up on the ground. Sometimes this also can happen if the birds don't like all the seed.
