Answer:	It may depend on what kind of jays you have where you are. We have scrub jays with long beaks here, and they don't get into this feeder at all. If you have a different type of jay they may be able to find a way to get the seeds.

Answer:	It is perfect to feed small birds such as finches. Keeps squirrels from getting at the seed. However, one squirrel was able to figure how to unscrew the top. Had to use duck tape to secure the top. That solved the problem.

Question:	How tall is this pole? Can a baffle be fitted on it
Answer:	It's approximately 8-9 feet tall, I have a baffle on mine, however where the feed tray is, my squirrels can jump to by-pass the baffle, w/o the feed tray, they cant reach the other feeders, hope this helps.
Question:	What is the diameter of the pole and is hollow? Some posters mentioned getting a 6 1/2 foot rebar to reinforce the pole. Is this necessary
Answer:	I am not too sure about the diameter but the pole is hollow. I did not need any rebar and I have birds and squirrels all over it. I suggest that you put it in the ground after it rains or soften up the spot where you want to place it. My husband tried to bang it into the ground with a hammer but the metal rods couldn't take it and bent. We had to straighten it back out before we could put the top on.
Question:	What color is this? It 's hard to tell exactly by the picture. Is is black or a green of some sort
Answer:	It is black. You will want to get a six-foot length of 1/2 inch rebar to fit inside to give it the strength to hold up to squirrels jumping onto it (if you have squirrels). Home Depot will cut a length for you.

Answer:	I don't know anything about live mealworms. It is about 1 1/2" -2" deep, so don't know if they could crawl out. It has a mesh bottom and sides, so also don't know if they would fit through the mesh. Seed does not fall through, but the 'chaff' does. Sorry, hopes this helps. As a bird feeder with seed it is wonderful.

Answer:	The mesh is pretty fine - I use mealworms in it. Not sure what the consistency is of cracked corn but I would say it's probably doable. I think I could put oatmeal in it with no problem if that's a similar size. I also think it's not at all flimsy and seems like a well balanced tray when hanging

Answer:

I don't know exact amount, but it turned out to be larger than I expected and holds about a third more than the other one we bought. We bought this as a second feeder because the other one we had (That looks very similar to this one) couldn't accommodate all the finches. This one turned out to be larger, and it seems that even with having two feeders, the finches all wanted to feed together on one. Since this one was larger, we just took the other one down. Also, this one is sooo much easier to fill. The latch is spring loaded, so all you do is turn this little tab latch, and it pops right open. Super easy, it feeds more finches, and very good quality. No question, this is the best finch feeder.

Question:	Does it work with bluebird nuggets
Answer:	Yes
Question:	Will it work for sunflower seeds
Answer:	Our mix is Sam's brand, a (40 pound bag), mostly sunflower seeds, even has broken peanuts and some fruit in the mix so sunflower seeds are no problem in ours. This feeder don't have to be removed from it's hanging place, just push the button to raise the roof and pour the seeds in. Ours is 1.5 years old and in Fla and is still fine.

Answer:	The tray doesn't get wet when it rains. I have lots of birds when it rains. I like this feeder better than any other one I have had.

Answer:	There is a closed loop so a hook is not needed, but it really depends on where you are hanging it. The tree branch my feeder is on is very thick, so I use a hook. Question:	Does the tray have holes in it so if water does get in it drips out? I'm concerned about the tray collecting water and moldy seeds
Answer:	This is probably the best feeder I have for keeping seeds from getting moldy. I use it for golden safflower and it dries out quickly if it gets wet or snowed on. The tray does have plenty of holes but is shallow so sometimes there is a small amount of build up of wet seed to wipe off but very easy to do.
Question:	I have a problem with morning doves eating the safflower seed that I put out for cardinals. Does anyone know if doves can sit on this feeder
Answer:	Carefully wire the mesh up so that the sitting area is shorter. I did this , little by little, until I got to the height that the morning dives could NOT get on the feeder. Cardinals and smaller birds can still easily feed. Also use safflower seed which eliminates alot of unwanted birds!
Question:	Is this supposed to be squirrel proof
Answer:	Or.....you can put a squirrel feeder for ears of corn nearby so the squirrels have some place to feed.
Question:	Does this feeder work with mixed bird seed? Or only with black oil sunflower seed
Answer:	No. I only use it for black oil sunflower seed. If you use mixed bird seed then the seed will all fall out from the large holes.Several times the squirrels will climb onto the top and tilt it but the sunflower seed will not fall out. Also, it really is squirrel-proof cause the squirrels can only get one seed at a time since the top locks.I love this feeder - it is the best for all birds!

The Need for Clearance!

Remember it is the squirrel’s weight that triggers the closing mechanism. If a squirrel can reach over from a nearby foothold and avoid placing its weight on the feeder, it will be able to access the seed. Allow for at least 18 inches or 47 cm of clearance around the feeder. This will force the squirrel to climb onto the feeder triggering the closing mechanism.

Question:	Is it refillable
Answer:	I did paint one of mine and I got a small can of wood stain for the other two.
Question:	Just a couple of more questions....does the sock protect the seed from rain? Do you have to bring the sock in if it's raining
Answer:	It will fit in your hand, maybe 3 or 4 inches wide each one. I use them for hummingbirds, they like the smaller size.
Question:	Do the seeds germinate to produce weeds when eaten by the birds or falls below the feeder? If so, why or why not? Are the seeds heat treated
Answer:	I can; not answer that because they are painted and gone.
Question:	Probably a dumb question but it is not clear to me if the seed comes with this dual feeder
Answer:	These come assembled. The parts are glued together and they're stronger than I thought they'd be. Although, you could paint them.
