Answer:	European house sparrows are a danger to many domestic birds and especially bluebirds. Experts encourage their eradication. Domestic sparrows (russet, song, white throated, etc.) are not a problem. The two-entry nesting boxes use a special design that allows the bluebird to escape via the second doorway to take the fight outside, where they are competitive with the house sparrow in a battle. Otherwise the house sparrow will destroy the eggs and/or kill the parents in the enclosed area. House sparrows are the scourge of the "bird community." I wouldn't try to adapt an one-entry box into a two-entry box. You can do an online search for "2-hole mansion" for plans. Nesting boxes are pretty easy and inexpensive to build, often from a single board, cedar or pine, and it's a fun project.

Answer:	Yes, this nice sturdy birdhouse is ready to hang. I have mine on a tree, but it is intended to put on a post. Very solid, good quality.

Answer:	It would definitely be a bad idea. If you want to attract bluebirds then the house should not be attached to a tree or anything else that a raccoon can climb. We have ours attached to t-posts or 3/4" conduit. The instructions for the bluebird houses recommend them being placed in the open and about 50 feet from the nearest perch.
Question:	Do you supply houses for Western bluebirds? Think their holes are a little bigger
Answer:	This box and many others that you will see with a 1 1/2" entrance will work fine for western bluebirds. Some suppliers label some boxes as "western" with a 1 9/16" hole and "eastern" with a 1 1/2" hole, but the larger size is actually intended to accommodate mountain bluebirds, which are present in some parts of the west. So, in short, 1 9/16" is sold as the safe size to attract any bluebird in western north America, while 1 1/2" is a fine size for the specific species "western bluebird."

Question:	Is there an advantage or purpose to the copper roof? I would think it would heat up the house
Answer:	don't think copper transfers much heat but it does prolong the life of the roof as it sheds water and isn't porous like wood.
Question:	Will house sparrows nest in this bird house or do you have to do something to keep them out
Answer:	Yes they will as I found out this year. Next year I will make a plate/cover for the hole and take it off when the Blue Birds arrive next spring. They wanted to use it but the sparrows beat them to it.The Wren's wanted to use it as well. It's well made and worth you time...
Question:	What is the best pole to mount this house on
Answer:	I bought the Homestead Step-in Birdfeeder Pole -4025 from Amazon. Works great. It has a plate at the top for mounting to the bottom of the house. Plate is not shown on webpage, which caused a lot of people to ask about it. Easy to assemble. Hope this helps.
Question:	What are the inside dimensions? The exterior says L x D x H. Does L = Width (left to right when looking straight on)? Does D mean front to back
Answer:	The dimensions of the inside chamber are only 4" x 4"... too small for Western and Mountain Bluebirds which have larger clutches than Eastern Bluebirds. They need at least a 5" x 5" inner chamber.

Answer:	Probably indirectly- Glue a larger piece of plywood to the base and screw the base into the pole plate. It is intended to be hung on a branch or a shepherd's crook but I think its adaptable.
