| Answer: | Lots of great answers here already. We suggest using about 1/2 of a container and smearing it all around the inside of the insect deterrent cup. The important thing is to make sure you don’t have any dry spots without gel that ants could walk across. |

| Answer: | The large hook piece does not come apart. The bug repellent is in the pot, looks like Vaseline, and you spread it on the platform piece. |

| Answer: | I don’t know if it works for earwigs. I have never seen them on my hummingbird feeder, if that helps. The ants do not cross the barrier and I’ve only applied the gel one time this summer. It has been very effective!!!! |
