Answer:	The ridges are about as high as a hot dog is round. The problem is the Press that is hard to heat up.

Answer:	yes, you could use the pan for say 4 or 5 of the farmer john links. they probably would soak in a bit of grease before done. I cook two slices of bacon, cut in half, and they are usually soaking in a small amount of grease before they are done. the pan is small and grooves are shallow. overall, I like the pan because of its size.

The screw is a 3/4 inch flathead screw.

Answer:	I wouldn't, the handle is plastic although you can unscrew it.

Answer:	It is cast iron, which is seasoned with a food derived oil and then it's baked at high temps to create non-stick surfaces. Remove your handles/knobs first. The oil is brushed/sprayed onto all surfaces before baking. I use the big Cr*sco to season my pans, some people like soybean oil, some like other oils. Oven at 450 degrees, brush oil on all surfaces, pan in oven upside down & bake about 90 minutes. Put foil below to catch drips.

To answer your question about the safety of Teflon, the answer is that Teflon is safe to use WITH MANY CAVEATS (do not exceed temperatures of 500 maybe as low as 325, do not chip the teflon, do not inhale the fumes produced, do not wash wish any abrasive cleaning products, and the list goes on). To answer Michael R's assertion that, "Short answer : it's safe", I will quote directly from the article he linked to :"Just how safe are nonstick pots and pans? The answer is a qualified one...They're safe, as long as they're not overheated. Answer:	Common with cast iron. Never in dishwasher. Or with soap. Brush it clean and keep dry. Use oil sunfloweroil or similar regurly and it will last a lifetime
