Question:	Can this thermometer get the temperature in a dryer
Answer:	I doubt it. The wavelength of the sensor is 8-14 microns and plexiglass has very low transmittance beyond about 3 microns (according to this spec sheet http://www.plexiglas.com/export/sites/plexiglas/.content/medias/downloads/sheet-docs/plexiglas-general-information-and-physical-properties.pdf). Whether or not the material your dryer door is made of is the same is another matter. If the transmittance is close to zero then you will essentially be measuring the temperature of the outside of the door.
Question:	Does this work on internal meat temperatures
Answer:	If you cut the meat in half you might be able to take the surface temperature of the meat, but then your meat is going to be cut in half and that's not real appetizing. Blue cheese is very appealing, maybe some bacon.

Answer:	If your child can open their mouth and hold it open for a few seconds, then YES! It is an extremely accurate way to measure temperature! Just point the dot at the back of the throat, and it gives you an immediate and accurate reading. I'm at a loss why people only considered pointing it at their foreheads or other external body parts.
Question:	What is the range (distance from gun to target) or recommended for this gun? How accurate is it at 6-8 feet range
Answer:	The 12:1 ratio means at 12" the gun is accurate for a one inch spot. So at 6'-8' it will be accurate for a 6"-8" inch spot. So the farther you get away from the spot being measured, the less accurate it will be. Like Cheryl said, think of it like a cone.

Answer:	I use this device for my wood burning stove that's in my outdoor sauna. I aim it at the side of the burning chamber and it works great. I know when it's 600F or higher, that there is a good burn inside. When the temp drops to 500F or lower, I know it's time to add wood!

Answer:	Hello,There could be a few reasons. One could be that when the temperature is either above or below the measuring range, the LCD displays "HI" or "LO"; another reason usually is that you need to check the battery to see if you may need a new battery.Etekcity Support
Question:	What is the distance that it can detect with accuracy
Answer:	I calibrated mine by pointing it at a cup of boiling water and it was within a couple of degrees. I usually use it at fairly close range (wheel bearings, tires, heating pads, etc) so haven't done any tests to determine long range accuracy but because of the physics of infrared I have no reason to believe it would be any less accurate at longer range. However it is rated at 12:1 spot ratio which means at twelve feet it would nominally be measuring the temperature of a one-foot circle and the farther removed you are the large the circle you would be averaging. One reason I chose this model was because its 12:1 rating was tighter than many other brands which were rated at 10:1 and 8:1. I have also used it to detect cold spots in my walls while standing back 8-12 feet and it has done this reliably.

Answer:	-10C is at 13F needs to go CW to 14F, 0C off by 1F needs CW to 32F, BUT 10C is almost spot on at 50F, 20C falls a bit short of 68F. Or if you're European or like metric system the Fahrenheit scale is the wrong one. Looks like art work is not so good and all people on this product team failed elementary grade science!

Answer:	The 6 inch measurement is for the display card it is attached to. This is typical for Amazon descriptions for items of this kind. As stated in other answers, the thermometer itself is 3.5 inches tall

Answer:	The only way to make sure a thermometer is accurate is to calibrate it. This is done by boiling water and using the thermometer to test the water. If the thing reads 121 degrees, it is accurate. If not, then it needs to be calibrated...that is, the dial needs to be rotated in relation to the dial so it reads 212 degrees. From what I see, most dial type oven thermometers are no longer manufactered with a small nut on the back to allow calibration. Find an old one at a yeard sale and you might be able to.

Question:	Can I use this for my grill
Answer:	Well, it says GRILL Thermo right in the item title... I wouldn't leave it in the food being measured in any case. The good thing about this thermo is that you can set the base off to the side and just probe the meat with the pointer while keeping the main unit away from the grill heat. That is a real plus, because the grill even down to 350 is Quite hot and I don't like scorching my hands and arms trying to get a reading. I'm going to get one.
Question:	Is there a way to set the temp at what I want on the thermometer and will an alarm go off when hits the temp I set it at
Answer:	Yeah, what you’ve described is the main function of this thermometer. You turn it on, and hold the temperature arrow to the direction of your desired temp. If your temp is say, 225, as soon as thermometer reading hits 225 or above, thermometer will beep loudly until you change the target temp again or turn it off. Works well for this purpose. Though the build quality on this is not great, I would spend a bit more and go for a ThermoWorks Dot which is far better built
Question:	I have a couple of these and the probes keep going bad, is there a multipack of probes available? The only replacements I’ve seen on here cost
Answer:	Just to throw this out, if you get water in the probe when you clean it (water gets in where the wire enters), it will ruin the probe. You gotta be careful to not let this happen. Others have said that too high a heat will ruin the probe, but I cannot imagine how this would happen without exposing the probe to an open flame.
Question:	Does this give an "instant" reading - like can you take a turkey out of the oven, insert the probe and immediately see the meat temperature
Answer:	I'm seeing widely conflicting answers. Some say it's an instant read thermometer, while others say it reads in 15-30 seconds. FYI, 15 seconds is about 7 times longer than an instant read thermometer, which reads in about 2-3 seconds. 30 seconds is an eternity, by comparison. So does it take 15-30 seconds or does it read within 2-3 seconds after insertion into the food.
