Answer:	Not sure what you mean by painted steel but it's not cast iron. It requires you to clean it with a wire grill brush so definitely not cast iron. I've used it twice - first time to season it so I did not cook on it. second time I cooked bacon and a pork roast on it. worked out good. Only thing i don't like about it is the hinges come apart sometime when it's over the fire pit and you try to lift up the one side. Just have to be careful

Answer:	I don't know for sure, but I was able to move it by myself after I assembled it. It is pretty light weight, made from a thin metal. I am a 5 foot female, average build, and in no way a body builder. This was while the pit was empty. If there is something in there it will add to the weight of course.

Answer:	The bracket is permanently welded on the inside of the ring. The grate is removable. One could grind the bracket off if you did not want to use the grate. I did not bolt the grate through the bracket/hinge and it is easily removed or installed depending on plans.

Answer:	The ring itself is intact on delivery. The grill and handle have to be assembled and attached to the ring. Very simple. Very easy. There are also two stakes that can be hammered into the ground to seat the ring in the event you want to lift it up to clean the ash pile. I did not use them because I have the ring encased in landscaping stone with no intention of moving it.
