User questions & answers
Question: | I'm a total rookie. Can someone please recommend the best thermometer? Wireless or wired? Help |
Answer: | Seriously, go to Webbers website and check out the video on how to tell when meat is done. It’s all about touch. If you’re doing a roast or a whole chicken or a small turkey, yeah, you may want a thermometer. But for steaks and chicken breasts, use the finger test. It’s easy to learn, and once you do, you’ll cook things perfectly every time. |
Question: | Where is it made |
Answer: | 100% of the parts come from Mexico/China. It is only turned into packagable sub-assembly in America. Not really any American content and a little labour only ASSEMBLED in the U.S.A. Big deal Still it is a good item and I bought one. |
Question: | Is there enough clarence between lid and cooking grate to cook "Beer Can Chickens" if so how many? Also what about a turkey and a large pork ham |
Answer: | Beer can chicken is a gimmick, and yes it’ll fit under the lid of a 22” grill, and yes a 12 lb Turkey will cook here easily. I cooked my first Turkey on an 18” Weber. Have fun |
Question: | Theres another one like this but 199.99. Whats the difference between |
Answer: | Hi, Thanks for your question! The $199.99 models is probably our Master-Touch Kettle, which is the same as the Original Kettle Premium, except it also is about 2" taller, has a warming rack, rubber wheels, a Gourmet BBQ System and 2 charbasket charcoal holders. Thanks! |

User questions & answers
Question: | How well does this pack away for trips |
Answer: | A hibachi would be better option for pack-way tripping. |
Question: | We got this but our apartments don't allow charcoal grills. Any other type of grill is fine, just not charcoal. Can we convert this at all |
Answer: | Nope. It's basically an aluminum bowl with holes in the bottom and in the cover. There isn't much room to convert, unless you intend on using it to, basically, build a gas grill from scratch. |
Question: | Is the recommended amount of charcoal (50 pcs) enough to cook with, or do you need more |
Answer: | Weber recommends for direct grilling method to start out with 50 pieces. Use the direct method for foods that take less than 25 minutes to cook: steaks, chops, kabobs, vegetables, and the like. If you are cooking alot of food you may have to add charcoal. Thank you for your inquiry. |
Question: | I am from Indonesia and I have been interested to buy this product, how do I buy this product |
Answer: | You might have found this review through a search and not know much about Amazon, but the item can be ordered through this website. I do not know anything about retail options for you to buy a Weber grill in Indonesia. If you try oredering through Amazon, be sure and look carefully at shippings costs. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why do these grills keep coming with those crappy porcelain coated cast iron gratea? its not a stainless steel grill with those worthless items |
Answer: | Hello, we're sorry to learn about your disappointment with our porcelain enameled cast iron (PECI) grates. We offer multiple models of grills, with some including the PECI grates, and others including stainless steel grates. PECI grates are preferred by some customers for their superior heat retaining properties, which make them exceptional at searing foods. Stainless steel cooking grates are preferred by others for their potential longevity. We do not market the Genesis II E-315 model as a 'stainless steel grill', as the 'E' in E-315 stand for enameled, with the lid, and cooking grates both being porcelain enameled. The Genesis II S-310, Genesis II E-335, and Genesis II S-435 all include a stainless steel lid, stainless steel doors, and stainless steel cooking grates. We do make stainless steel grates for this Genesis II E-315, and they are part # 66802. Thanks! |
Question: | Can i get replacement wheels for this grill? i need the caster type for the weber genisis |
Answer: | Hello! The wheels for this model are currently only available through our call center at 1-800-446-1071, and they carry a 10 year warranty. Thanks! |
Question: | What material is the grill box. i know the lid is porcelain but what is the actual grill box made of |
Answer: | According to the description online, the grill is stainless steel. However, I don’t know what makes you think the top is porcelain. |
Question: | is this specific model made in china |
Answer: | Hello! As of November, 2018, Weber uses a “dual source” approach to the manufacture of Weber’s Genesis II series gas grills. Some of the Genesis II grills are manufactured at our plant in Palatine, Illinois using globally sourced component parts. Some of our Genesis II grills are manufactured in China. The quality of the Genesis II grills are identical, no matter where they are sourced from, and the warranty you receive with a Genesis II grill is also identical, being 10 years on all components. Please check the box of a Genesis II series grill and there will be a “Statement of Origin” that identifies the location where the Genesis II grill was manufactured. Thanks! |

Question: | How would this grill be for a family of two with occasional parties of 6-8? Can you cook a good amount on it |
Answer: | We are a family of two. However, when our kids and grandkids come for a visit, we turn into 8. A few weeks ago when they were all there, we cooked hamburgers. I believe I cooked 12 meat patties at one time. The primary cooking grill was used. The top narrow grill surface was not used that day. I believe it worked great for our group. I will not hesitate to plan outside cooking for groups of that size ... even up to 10-12 people. |
Question: | What is the width of the E210 grill WITHOUT THE 2 SIDE TABLES |
Answer: | Without side tables: 22.5 inches. With 2 tables folded Down: 29.5 inches |
Question: | How hot can you get this grill? Say in 70 degree weather, no wind, after 15 or 20 minutes of pre- heating on high |
Answer: | Well over 400 degrees if both burners are on. Here in San Diego it averages 70 degrees and have no problem getting my grillover 400 degrees |

Question: | Can this be used to smoke or would it use too much propane? Also, do you need lava rocks? I have only used charcol in the past. Thanks |
Answer: | You can definitely slow cook with this, and add a smoke box with wood chips to flavor the meat more. If doesn't require rocks as it has metal flavorizer bars that the cooking meat will drip on and then transfer the grilled flavor to the finished product. I think you could get several hours from a tankful of propane. Have done this with my old gas grill before. I suggest using one burner and placing the meat on one side or the other or in the middle for.this grill and try keeping the temp to around 225 degrees F |
Question: | My weber silver b has handy flip up /flip down, melamine side tables, which extend to the front. is this feature available on genesis models |
Answer: | Hi! Our Genesis II models have a side table that has the ability to fold down. The other side is stationary. Thanks! |
Question: | Is this the newest model with the "sear grate" in the middle? Thanks |
Answer: | Mine is the 200 series and no sear grate |
Question: | Do the side tables fold down on the Weber E |
Answer: | This does seem to be a highly confused question due to Amazon having these all grouped on the one product page.To clarify:ANY of the 3 burner models (including the E310, which this question specifies) DO NOT have the fold down side tables.ONLY the 2 burner models WITHOUT a side-burner (E210 or S210) DO have fold down side tables. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What are the assembled measurements of this grill? Height x diameter. Thanks |
Answer: | Pretty close to what I got...I came up with 18 inches high, but it's hard to measure. 14 3/4 to 15 is a good diameter. |
Question: | how does it compare to the Smokey Joe Gold grill |
Answer: | Here's what I put in my review: "The reviews for the gold suggested that the silver was a better option for two reasons: the ash catcher tray and the fact that the holes were on the bottom rather than the side. The Gold cannot have ashes removed unless the coals are out and the charcoal rack can be removed. After using the silver, I question what good the ash catcher tray is. How do you clean it out while charcoals remain lit or unlit in the grill? With a tiny little brush or shovel? It's cute.As for the holes on the bottom. This is all well and good until your charcoal crumbles and the ashes clog the holes. And if you have the lid on, the charcoals go out. And you wonder why your hamburgers are not cooked. Having the holes on the side would keep air flow, regardless of crumbling charcoals.Third, the Gold has a handle, which would make this easier to move. After the fact, I discovered that Cook's Illustrated has reviewed portable grills, and they included the Gold in their review, but not the silver." |
Question: | Can anyone recommend this grill vs. the Smokey Joe Gold Vs. the Go Anywhere Grill? I don't want to travel with grill and want to use in a screened in porch. Thanks |
Answer: | The Silver has an air damper at the bottom. The Gold does not. The Gold allows you to lock the lid to the kettle for easier transportation. For open grilling, both will do the same job. With both models, you can easily starve airflow to the fire in case of flare-ups. The Go Anywhere is designed to be portable, and with a rectangular surface area, it allows for a different arrangement of food and charcoal. The go anywhere allows for stacking your charcoal on one side, so that you can have a hot side and cool side. With both the Silver and Gold models, the coals are usually right in the middle unless you use a patio brick or some other improvised device to keep the coals on one side. Depending on what you plan on cooking, you may prefer the rectangular grill surface. The Go Anywhere, with the rectangular design, is better for travel and storage. The Go Anywhere has two dampers on top, and dampers along the bottom, for better control over airflow. The Silver has a damper on the top, and a damper on the bottom. The Gold only has the damper on the lid; simple enough to extinguish heat with, but not the ideal way to feed fresh air to the coals. With the Go Anywhere's rectangle shape, you'll be able to use more of the available square inches for ribs that won't fit the Silver & Gold. At the end of the day, none of these units are designed to cook larger cuts of meat. If you get your butcher to cut a 3 bone standing rib roast from the end with the smaller bones, you can get it on the grill - but closing the lid over your roast is another matter. All three can do a small cut of brisket, a whole chicken if you butterfly or quarter it, pork loins, pork butt, and just about anything that you can close the lid on - if you get good enough to be able to control the temperature. The real trick to turning out great food, with all three of these grills and any other grill for that matter, is temperature control. Master the flame, and you could turn out everything from smoke trout to wood fired pizza. The true adventurist will even use it as a fire pit for wok cooking. Or keep it simple with these little grills, and stick to kebabs, burgers, hot dogs, short ribs, and steaks. |
Question: | How high does the grill stand without the lid? Thanks |
Answer: | Hello, had to put my beer down and go measure it. it is 12" high without the lid. I just put mine on a set of cinder blocks so you don't have to bend down all day while cooking, or you can put it on a picnic table as long as it is not plastic. I love mine. take care |

User questions & answers
Question: | can you use would instead of charcoal |
Answer: | I assume you meant 'Wood'. The Weber (like all charcoal grills) is designed for charcoal and a different design is required for wood. I've read that wood burns hotter than charcoal, but we tried to roast potatoes wrapped in Aluminum foil on a camping trip by setting them in the coals and the aluminum got vaporized! I have see videos of professional BBQ chefs and competitors use wood by burning it separately from the smoker then using a shovel to load the coals in the smoker, but I think they were just creating 'quick charcoal'. As a former boy scout, you want to cook on coals, not flaming wood. It seems to me there is little difference -from a cooking standpoint-between a a charcoal fire and a burned down wood fire. The Charcoal may last longer and provide a more even heat; which is really the whole point in fuel selection. If I was in a pinch and out of charcoal I would build a wood fire in a pit and when it had burned down to hot coals, transfer them to the grill. I would not start a wood fire in the Weber and wait for hard wood to burn down to cooking level. Don't think it would do well, but maybe someone out there has tried it? |
Question: | Are the grill grates hinged with this model |
Answer: | So... we have 1 yes and 3 no's... I probably wasn't very clear in my initial question what I'm asking if the top grill grate has a hinged section that you can lift up during your cook to add additional coals. I think it only comes stock on the Gold series kettle after doing more research. |
Question: | Please say YES! Does the lid hold when titled to the side? Female WC used, the lid is too heavy to remove so say yes it tilts and make my day |
Answer: | You can purchase a separate hinge kit from unknownbbq.com that will keep the lid attached to your grill. It also has a removable pin to take the lid off all together. They aren’t cheap at around $50 to $60! |
Question: | Assembly help! I'm stuck on page 9, step 9 - what is the purpose of the H piece? I can't get it to stay on there |
Answer: | The "H" piece goes on from the bottom and connects to the 3 bladed vent covers that fit on the inside. You have to install the 3 bladed vent covers, then reach up from the bottom with the "H" piece and install the long steel rod with the loop bended on the end. This is the handle that allows to open/close the vent. When you start up the grill you open them and to cool down/extinguish the coals you close the vent, also ash will fall out of these holes. During assembly I found it hard to install the "H" piece, because you have to hold down the 3 bladed vent cover with one hand while using the other to install the "H" piece and steel handle. I suggest you have someone help hold down the 3 bladed vent cover while you install the "H" piece and then slide in the steel handle to retain all. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you have to purchase a charcoal starter or chimney starter for this? I'm thinking about purchasing as a gift and want to make sure |
Answer: | It's a matter of personal preference. You can start your coals in the grill with lighter fluid like any other grill, or use a chimney. I use both, if I have lighter fluid then I usually do it that way, if not then I will use the chimney, also the chimney works well if you're cooking something that takes a while and you need to add charcoal. |
Question: | how tall is it |
Answer: | Hi! Thanks for your question! The 22" Original Kettle Premium measures about 39.5" tall. Thanks! |
Question: | does it have a thermostat built into the lid |
Answer: | Hi! The Original Kettle Premium does include a built-in thermometer. Thanks! |
Question: | How many people can you cook for on this grill? i.e. how many chicken breasts or burgers could you fit on the grill at one time |
Answer: | Bear in mind this will depend on how you setup your charcoal for direct/indirect cooking. Probably, you'll set the pile of coals on one side of the grill, and leave the other half for indirect (if you're using the Weber Chimney to start your coals, a full chimney really only covers about half anyway). You'll likely want to char the burgers over direct heat first, then move to indirect if needed. This gives about half of the usable area on the grill. So I would say you could comfortably fit 6-8 decent sized burgers, or 4-5 chicken breasts on one side of the grill at any time. That being said, it would be easy to cook for, say, 6-7 people by cooking over direct heat first, moving to indirect to finish, and starting the next batch of burgers/chicken over direct (cycle it). |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there a cover or carrying bag made for Jumbo Joe Gold |
Answer: | RECOMMENDATION: IF your seeking a cover; USE the WEBER 6551 (weberQ 2000/2200 cover) for the Jumbo Joe; works great! |
Question: | Will the box fit on a large suitcase of 30" x 19.5"x 8.5" ? Or Unassembled |
Answer: | I'm not positive, but I think it would fit. The bowl part is close to 8.5 inches. If they are nested together it might just go. |
Question: | Is the vent on the bottom the same kind as the one on the top cover |
Answer: | They are not the same but the top vent is hard to turn it will scratch your top cover it happened to me I don't recommend this grill my cheap $20 Wal-Mart grill is way better |
Question: | Can I use this as a small 'firepit' bowl on my patio? Much cheaper than 'real' ones |
Answer: | I used the smaller Smokey Joe as a fire pit. It works but since they are designed to burn quickly down to coals, it seemed the wood went pretty fast. We were using pretty dry loose juniper wood though so it may perform better with a different wood. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does anyone know what the weight and dimensions of the boxed grill are |
Answer: | Hi! The box dimensions of the Q2200 are L: 32.5" x W: 18.2" x H: 17.6" with a weight of 43.5lbs. Thanks! |
Question: | All the dimensions I see are with the lid open and the side platforms extended. What are the "buttoned up" dimensions with the lid closed |
Answer: | Contacted Weber (800) 446-1071 Rep said it was approximately, since she had to go to floor and measure, lid closed tables retracted Q2200 is 27 inches long, Q1200 17 inches long |
Question: | how long does small propane canister last |
Answer: | I get 2 1/2 hours out of a Coleman disposable cannister using this way: 1. 8 minutes on high to preheat. 2. Turn down to 1/2 heat when I toss on my steak. 3. Steaks take around 4 to 6 minutes depending on thickness. I cooked exactly as above thru 3 canisters, and used a timer each time I fired it up and extinguished it. I have since converted over to a full size propane tank - I just wanted to see how long the canisters would last. |
Question: | Can anyone tell me the footprint of the legs? I need to know the length and width on the legs footprint |
Answer: | I don't have this grill yet, but I plan to buy it for my camper soon. The most common unanswered question I've seen about this grill is the closed dimensions, which you would think Weber would publicize, considering it's meant to be a compact, portable grill. Because of this, I went into a Home Depot yesterday, and measured the floor model. The width, with the side shelves closed, is 32 inches. The height, with the lid closed, is 15.5 inches. The depth, with the lid closed, measured from the front of the handle to the back of the hinges is 18.5 inches. The feet have a footprint of 21 inches wide by 15 inches deep. The side tables are about 12 inches wide, and they do fold to inside of the grill when not in use. The grilling surface, measured at its longest points, is 22 inches wide by 16 inches deep. The grilling surface does taper somewhat towards each end. There are two grilling grates, so one can be replaced with the griddle. The grate does have an integrated "cover" over the burner. The regulator does look like it is screwed in, so can be removed to attach it to another regulated source like that on a camper. I couldn't try to unscrew it in store, because the regulator is held in place with a couple screws. |
