6 best corded trimmers
Corded trimmers, particularly corded electric trimmers, are popular tools used in lawn and garden maintenance. These tools are often associated with brands like Greenworks and find their place in the Patio, Lawn, and Garden category. Here's what you need to know about corded trimmers:
Power Source: Corded trimmers are powered by electricity through a cord that needs to be plugged into a standard electrical outlet.Unlike cordless trimmers, which rely on batteries, corded electric trimmers provide a continuous power source, making them suitable for extended use without the need for recharging or replacing batteries.
Varieties: Corded trimmers come in various types, including string trimmers (also known as weed eaters or weed trimmers) and hedge trimmers. Each type is designed for specific tasks:
String Trimmers: These are designed to trim grass, weeds, and other vegetation around the edges of lawns, pathways, and garden beds. They use a spinning nylon string to cut through vegetation.
Hedge Trimmers: Hedge trimmers are used to trim and shape hedges and shrubs. They feature a set of reciprocating blades that move back and forth to make clean cuts.
Power and Performance: Corded trimmers are known for their consistent and reliable power output. They are typically more powerful than their battery-powered counterparts, making them suitable for tackling thicker and denser vegetation.
Lightweight and Maneuverable: Corded electric trimmers are often lightweight and easy to maneuver, which makes them suitable for precision trimming and edging tasks.
Zero Emissions: Since they are electric-powered, corded trimmers produce no emissions, making them an environmentally friendly choice compared to gas-powered alternatives.
Continuous Use: As long as there is a power source, corded trimmers can be used continuously, making them ideal for larger properties or tasks that require extended trimming sessions.
Maintenance: Corded trimmers generally require less maintenance compared to gas-powered alternatives. Maintenance tasks typically include cleaning, blade sharpening (for hedge trimmers), and ensuring the power cord is in good condition.
Safety: Users should follow safety guidelines when operating corded trimmers. This includes wearing appropriate safety gear, such as safety glasses and ear protection, and keeping the power cord clear of the cutting area to avoid accidents.
Cord Management: Managing the power cord can be a minor inconvenience, but it's essential to prevent tripping hazards and damage to the cord.
Accessories: Some corded trimmers may come with additional features or accessories, such as adjustable handles, telescopic shafts, and edging capabilities for string trimmers.
In conclusion, corded trimmers, particularly corded electric trimmers, are versatile and reliable tools for maintaining lawns and gardens. They offer consistent power, are environmentally friendly, and are suitable for various tasks, including trimming grass, weeds, and hedges. Proper safety precautions and maintenance are essential for safe and efficient operation.

User questions & answers
Question: | Pic near bottom says, "...automatic feed", but text near top says "...bump..."! so is line feed auto or bump type? why discrepancy |
Answer: | If you mean electrical cord, no. It has an electrical prong you can attach a cord to. |
Question: | Is it possible to use blades on this instead of the string |
Answer: | .065" line. = (Also known as 1.65mm line.) |
Question: | Which pre-wound spool do you purchase for this product |
Answer: | You certainly can, yes. It'll save you alot of money, over the life of the trimmer, as well. All you can do is to try. If it seems like it isn't the thing for you to have to do, then you can buy spools (# AF-100), that are already pre-wound with the required .065"= (1.65mm), diameter line on them. |
Question: | What replacement string spoolsdo i order for this product |
Answer: | I'm using the non-rounded trimmer line, and it feeds just fine. I absolutely prefer the non-rounded "star" shaped line also - far better cutting. |

User questions & answers
Question: | The string on mine stopped feeding and I can't pull any out either. Any ideas |
Answer: | I found this happens when I am weeding in cracks in concrete and the line is abraded quickly. I use the manual feed button the the bottom, but the manual states that the line auto advances with every pull of the trigger by 1/4. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.greenworkstools.com/media/documents/21332_E.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwj70PvA4LPkAhVjLH0KHR68AZYQFjAAegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw1tOELy7rumPyp1uRykqQsF&cshid=1567483754657 |
Question: | One person said the on button took a lot of effort to hold on. how much strength |
Answer: | I have arthritis in my large joint of my thumb, and after using this for about 30-45 minutes - my hand is screaming at me. The issue is that you have to squeeze two buttons simultaneously. The top isn't that bad, but the bottom button does take a bit of effort (for a 40+ yr old woman). Coupled with the weight of the motor, it is a noticeable difference from my prior small electric weed eater. It would stop me from buying it, but I think it should be a consideration in designing the next model. |
Question: | Do you sell extra line |
Answer: | Amazon sells replacement trimmer line for this trimmer. Greenworks .065 dual trimmer line replacement spool #29082 (1-pk), #29242 (3-pk) |
Question: | Suddenly stopped working? Power cord is good, all plugged in. Cannot figure out what caused it to stop |
Answer: | My problem to is no power, not working. The safety switch does not "click" like it is supposed to when I depress it thus the power switch will not turn on the trimmer. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this trimmer have a lock "on" switch |
Answer: | Hello Trish,No, this unit does not have a lock switch. Due to certification issues a lock on the switch (for continual run) design is not an option. |
Question: | Does it work well on blackberries |
Answer: | Can't answer that one, don't have blackraspberries, but seems to be a tough little machine. Used on an ancient hedge that was brittle & tough but did the job. |
Question: | Will the 4 amp handle rose bush pruning |
Answer: | I'm sure it will. I prune Rose of Sharon bushes and holly bushes. Love it! |
Question: | Where can I find a scabard to cover the blade |
Answer: | I made a cover for the whole tool. I cut off one leg of old Levi's and had my wife stitch the distal part of the garment (the ankle / cuff end). Drop the whole tool in and hang on one of those big "S" hooks. All good! |
