Question: | Can this start and run a 1/2 HP sump pump |
Answer: | Probably, what is amperage draw of the pump? |
Question: | what is the sound decibles for this |
Answer: | The noise level is 57 dB(A) when running at the rated load (1800W) and 48 dB(A) at 1/4 load (450W) with Eco Throttle ON |
Question: | I just opened the box. the top/large air filter ship is wet with oil is that by design? how do i contact the seller |
Answer: | The air filter is dampened with oil for proper filtration. It is washable and you must reoil it after cleaning. See the manufacturers website for a how to video. |
Question: | What is the difference between the $1099 and $1199 generator |
Answer: | The $1099 generator is the "standard" model and the $1199 generator is the "companion" model. The only reason to purchase a companion model is if you already own a standard model and want to link them together to produce more than 2200 watts from one generator. A standard US 110v 20amp outlet can only handle 2000 watts continuous (up to 2200 watts peak, Volts x Amps = Watts). By connecting both generators together, you can use the 30 amp receptacle on the companion generator to power equipment that requires more power than a standard 110v, 20 amp outlet (think normal house outlet). This would not be common in a standard house unless you have a special receptacle setup to power multiple breakers on your power panel. Most RVs have a 30amp or 50amp receptacle used to power the whole vehicle including the AC unit which typically will pull more than 2000 watts continuous. |

User questions & answers
Question: | start a 13500 btu AC |
Answer: | We have a 13,500 BTU A/C in out 2004 Mountaineer and this generator starts and runs it with no problems. We leave the generator in "economy" mode all the time and it naturally revs up when the A/C starts up, but has never failed to do its job. Also, we run it only on propane... it's never had a drop of gasoline in it. |
Question: | Looks like it would weigh more with the battery and starter. Not much heavier than the 75531i |
Answer: | Rope start backup. |
Question: | How to connect to 500 gal tank |
Answer: | mine is connected to our 500 gal tank but it took some work going back & forth between the tech at champion (have to get the right one) and my propane company. i had propane company put a quick disconnect valve at the house, where the propane goes into the house on the low side of the step down valve, then i had them make me a 20' hose that connects to the diaphragm / hose that champion provides minus their regulator. There is a limit on how long the new hose can be as the pressure will drop with distance and you do need a minimum about of gas pressure for it to work. (see other answer from Champion here). Triple check w/ both Champion & your propane company. Also when you turn it on to run, the gen will have to pull out the air in the hose, takes several short cranks on the gen and if it's cold out you may end up having to pull the cord - takes some practice w/ the choke. Once the propane is flowing it's easier to restart if you don't disconnect the hose from either end. I used it this way for 22 hrs recently and it worked like a charm. Don't forget to check the oil regularly. The diaphragm must be exposed to ambient air pressure but also must stay dry. |
Question: | Does this come with the lp hose? And what connection is it |
Answer: | Yes it does. The hose connection is std. 3/8 propane connection like a barbeque uses. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Please tell me decibel of this generator |
Answer: | This is a jobsite generator, NOT the same as a camping generator. It will be very noisy. Camping generators are more expensive, but much, much quieter if that is what you want. Do not confuse the two. A few points in decibels is exponentially louder. Jobsite generators are not suitable for campgrounds. |

Answer: | Right, there isn't an hour meter. At least not on my EU3000is.The bigger EU7000is does have an hour meter. |
Question: | why is the shipping weight so heavy |
Answer: | I believe that the mass of the generator leads to it being heavy. Something to do gravity and it being made out of predominantly metal. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I get examples of your successful household usage: frig + tankless water heater? Frig + flat screen, etc |
Answer: | I use this unit with my travel trailer. It runs the lights, the fridge. One or two additional appliances (coffee maker, toaster, hair curler) have been used, but only one at a time. I wouldn't depend on this unit to run my household fridge, or other appliances (go bigger). This unit is new to me. My prior generator was only 1000i - please accept replies from others who are using this unit; they might be more aggressive users than I am. |
Question: | Brand new, this smells like there is gas in the tank. Is that normal |
Answer: | I believe what you have observed is normal and results from function testing the engine at the factory. I saw some oil on the dipstick threads and could smell gasoline vapor in the fuel tank of my new EU2200i generator that came sealed in the original factory box. When I set the new generator on its side, about 1/2 oz. of oil dribbled out. You will find the following quote in the Owner’s Manual of some Honda generators (and lawn mowers) which I believe also applies for the EU2200i generator. “All Honda engines are run at the factory prior to packaging. Most of the oil is removed prior to shipment; however, some oil remains in the engine. The amount of oil left in the engine varies." For an example, look on Page 4 (second paragraph) of the Honda EB2800i generator Owner’s Manual online at http://cdn.powerequipment.honda.com/pe/pdf/manuals/00X31Z43B010.pdf#page=4 |
Question: | Will this generator run 2 full size refrigerators and a small freezer? I have a fortune in frozen organic meat and I need to save it |
Answer: | Jeannie, First, the EU2200i is a really great inverter/generator, even though I've only had mine for about 4 months. I had an extended power outage in July and it fired right up, no gas to mess with because I installed propane kit--worked flawlessly(see below). If you get this inverter/generator, if nothing else, get a magnetic dipstick--this will greatly extend the life of the engine by removing any metal particles in the oil. Amazon: BougeRV Fits Honda EU2200i Generator Easy Fill Oil Change Funnel Mess Free + Magnetic Oil Dipstick Fits Honda Generator EU2200i. I doubt if the EU2200i can run all three at one time--it can only handle max/peak 2200 watts. And, I would guess that you don't want to exceed 75%(1650 watts) of the EU2200I's rated 2200 watts capacity. Not knowing the size/age/amps of freezer/fridge it is hard to say. Check the fridge/freezer manufacturer's model/power label for max amps. Then to calculate watts required, use this formula: "watts =amps x voltage. For example my fridge has max 6 amps on a 120 volt circuit. 720 watts = 6 amps x 120 volts. Keep in mind when a compressor on the fridge or freezer kicks in, the power needed will temporarily surge beyond the rated amps used. If you need more power than the 2200 watts, there is an option to run a pair of Honda generators together (parallel) on the same circuit, AND get a combined 3600 watts. Honda has a kit for this. https://powerequipment.honda.com/generators/generator-parallel-capability The Honda generator/inverter setup that I have tested: Samsung (energy star) refrigerator (720 watts -- 26 cu ft) and LG (energy star) air conditioner, max cold/fan (660 watts---8K BTU) and ran for about 2 hours with no problem--a total of 1380 watts, this leaves excess power without overloading the Honda inverter/generator. AND during this test run my Honda never had to run at full power. This was run on a Hutch Mountain propane kit (that allows me to use either gas or propane or natural gas.) One last thought, and really give this serious consideration, because you never know when you will need the generator, consider a propane fuel kit (it is really easy to add a propane kit--CAUTION--this will void the warranty). Here is a youtube video showing how easy it is to add a propane fuel option--turn down the youtube volume, it has some weird music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xgJXJkLb7Q ALSO, with the Hutch Mountain tri-fuel kit (available on Amazon--but look at Hutch Mountain's website for more info: https://hutchmountain.com/), you can still use gas while leaving the propane kit in place. So you can switch be between gas and propane/natural gas as needed. The benefits of propane fuel, imho, outweigh gas for many reason. Storing gas, even if you use a fuel stabilizer only keeps the gas usable for 6-12 months, and the gas will still be degraded. Running gas through the carburetor will eventually foul and need cleaning. Propane/natural gas is cleaner running--propane has a lower carbon content than gasoline, diesel, heavy fuel oil, or even biodiesel and ethanol. Also, if you have propane tanks (like for a BBQ grill) you can store those tanks for years and the propane does NOT degrade. Also, the propane tanks will run longer than the gas tank on the generator. And, nobody likes messing with gas except putting it in a car. It is tedious to pour gas into a fuel tank on a hot engine/generator. I am NOT affiliated with Hutch Mountain in any way, just a really satisfied customer with their well-designed product and the huge benefits of propane fuel. |
Question: | What is the meaning of inverter. how is that different from a generator that does not say inverter |
Answer: | In addition to cleaner power (less electrical noise, voltage fluctuations, and frequency variations) an inverter generator can be more fuel efficient because it does not need to run at a fixed speed. Usually regular generators run at 3600RPM all the time to provide 60Hz power (60Hz x 60s/m = 3600). An inverter generator can run at lower speeds when demand is low giving more efficiency. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it electric start |
Answer: | Mostly yes, but you will spend 30-60 minutes assembling the feet, wheels and handle. |
Question: | What is the difference between the em5000s and the eb |
Answer: | the internet marketers and Honda are very coy with their wordings so it's almost impossible to get a straight determination. from studying all the literature on the web. I think that if a pure sine wave is really important to you (ie. for high grade electronics) then you need to find a generator which has a microprocesser controlled inverter. The EM6500s doesn't have this as nearly as i can tell. It appears that you will have to go up to the EU7000IS for what you want. (and spend lots more $$$). Be sure you really need it before spending 40 to 50% more for the same power. you probably don't need to. |

Question: | Does the bluetooth option onky allow you to monitor the unit or does it allow you to shut the unit off via bluetooth |
Answer: | It does not allow you to start the generator. |
Question: | Is this the product the Companion version or not? The description mentions the 30 amp receptical, but the pictures shown are not of a Companion model |
Answer: | The EU2200i companion has a built in 20 amp and 30 amp. |
Question: | I ordered this generator. how come the pictures says the industrial version? that cannot be correct, because the description says: eu |
Answer: | It is not industrial. Regular one you can get at a box store. |
Question: | will this run a water pump with at 19 Amps, 120V and 60Hz with a 30amp plug |
Answer: | The 30 amp plug is only good if you are paralleled to another 2200 watt Honda. 19 amps are asking too much from one 2200 watt Honda because of the starting amps the water pump. |
