10 best gasoline generator

Gasoline generators, often referred to simply as gas generators, are portable power generators that use gasoline as their fuel source to produce electricity. These devices are commonly used for a variety of applications, both in outdoor and emergency situations. Here is some information about gasoline generators:

  1. Power Generation: Gasoline generators are designed to generate electrical power when a stable source of electricity is not available. They consist of an internal combustion engine that runs on gasoline and an alternator that produces electrical output.

  2. Portable Design: Gas generators are typically designed for portability, featuring wheels and a handle for easy transportation. They come in various sizes and power outputs to suit different needs.

  3. Fuel Source: As the name suggests, gasoline generators use gasoline as their primary fuel source. This makes them readily accessible, as gasoline is widely available at gas stations.

  4. Starting Mechanism: Most gasoline generators use a pull-start mechanism similar to that of a lawnmower. Some larger models may have an electric starter powered by a battery.

  5. Power Output: Gas generators come in a range of power outputs, from small units that can provide a few hundred watts for powering basic appliances to larger models that can deliver several thousand watts to run multiple appliances and tools.

  6. Runtime: The runtime of a gasoline generator depends on the size of the fuel tank and the load it is powering. Smaller generators may run for a few hours on a single tank, while larger units can run for a longer duration.

  7. Applications: Gas generators are versatile and can be used for various purposes. Common applications include providing backup power during electrical outages, powering tools and appliances at remote job sites, and supplying electricity for outdoor events and camping trips.

  8. Noise Level: Gasoline generators can be noisy due to the internal combustion engine. Some models are equipped with noise-reduction features, such as mufflers, to reduce noise levels.

  9. Maintenance: Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the reliable operation of a gasoline generator. This includes checking the oil level, changing the oil and air filter, and inspecting spark plugs. Maintenance intervals vary by model and usage.

  10. Safety: Gasoline generators produce carbon monoxide (CO) gas, which is toxic and can be deadly if inhaled in high concentrations. They should always be operated in well-ventilated areas, and users should never run them indoors or in enclosed spaces. Additionally, users should follow safety precautions regarding fuel handling and storage.

  11. Inverter Generators: Some gasoline generators are equipped with inverter technology, which provides a more stable and clean electrical output, making them suitable for sensitive electronics.

  12. Cost: Gasoline generators come in a wide price range, with smaller, basic models being more affordable than larger, high-output generators. The price also depends on additional features and capabilities.

Gasoline generators are valuable tools for providing temporary power in various situations. However, users should be aware of safety guidelines and maintenance requirements to ensure safe and reliable operation.

User questions & answers

Question: would like to adapt to another gererator. can someone tell me the actual axel length/wheel base measurment
Answer: axel length is 19 inches long, wheel base is 8 inches wide.
Question: Ran gen and turned off petcock till unit died. Why is gas still getting into carb/air cleaner assembly
Answer: It seems that if you overfill the fuel tank, the gas makes it's way into the vent and and then drains thru the hose back into the air cleaner assembly. Not the greatest design, but I drained some fuel from the tank and now the problem is solved.. Thanks for you input anyhow.
Question: can you plug a power strip into the outlet and run lamps, refrigerator and sump pump all at the same time
Answer: Yes - as long as the wattage doesn't exceed the rated capacity. We've used ours to run two refrigerators, two fans and our water well without any issues.
Question: Can somone explain the difference between surge watts and running watts
Answer: Think of the running watts as the generator stabilizing its power output & staying level. When you plug another item into it that means it has to do more or output more power for a few seconds it amps up to compensate for the new item plugged in. A quick surge in watts happens & eventually levels out back to the running watts. If it happens to go over the max surge watts too far it'll shut off.

Question: Does anyone know how loud in dh this generator produces
Answer: I do not think so. They fit in most gel pen barrels as long as they are not click pens.
Question: Will this generator run off of natural gas as well
Answer: They fit a regular gel pen barrel. I've been buying these for 2yrs. I bought an extra 100 set of popular pens & these refills too. Nice amount of ink, flow great & long lasting. Kept the barrels of the named brand set & put the $9.99 refills in & ordered another set of refills. I highly recommend these.
Question: Danielle, does it need, or come with a battery
Answer: I am not familiar with this diy product, but they work fine in my used gel pens.
Question: Why are there no stars? Has anyone tried this
Answer: It's 0.5mm, will fit 0.5mm and 0.38 pens

User questions & answers

Question: Is the generator all gas
Answer: After I received the fog machine, view the instructions and the product information. it explained the fog machine should warm up around three minutes before start the machine. Each time spray is 30 seconds and stop two minutes rest, and then continue the spray cycle.
Question: How do i attach the handle? Do I have to take of the top
Answer: No I have not experienced any stains or films on the floor or the wall.
Question: Can this Run a freezer
Answer: You have to keep pushing the button for fog and the lights don’t stay on they only come on when you push button for fog 😤🙄
Question: Does this gennerator have a 30amp outlet
Answer: they are not meant to be. They do not have the same shiny white texture as a white board. they are slightly textured to the touch. not the same as a costco foldable table. Easier to write and color cleanly on without bumps. they are a very light white gray and pretty easy to clean. i have tried using a white board marker on it and it scrubbed off cleanly, but again not the same texture as white board. for hard to remove stains, I use those mr clean magic eraser things.

User questions & answers

Question: Can you use the pull start because it looks like the metal panel is in the way according to the picture
Answer: The design is not optimal. The panel is in the way to pull the cord straight out. You pull it at a 90 degree angle, outward toward the handles. Mine starts pretty easily, usually one pull and it's not a hard pull. The cord housing is rounded, so the cord won't fray when pulled at 90 degrees.
Question: What is the noise level
Answer: To me, the noise seems low/reasonable. It has a large automotive style muffler (not a small lawn mower type). The generator mechanism itself also makes some noise, but not too loud. Actually, i thought this cheaper generator would be louder so I'm very pleased with the noise level. In fact, everything about this generator works well and seems to be high quality especially for the low price. I've not needed it for an actual outage yet, but I've run several tests through my transfer panel with various load levels for 15-20 mins at a time with perfect operation.
Question: What type of gas should be used? Or does it even matter
Answer: Alcohol free if possible. If not add a little Ethynol remover to the gas. Also if this has a fuel shutoff valve you should close the valve and let the engine use all the gas in the carburetor so it won't get all gummed up from the alcohol in the gas. I have a 6500 watt I have been using regularly since 2005 and keep it running great this way.
Question: Can someone confirm if this (gas only) unit has an automatic choke? I'm seeing no reference to a choke lever/switch on pics or video
Answer: Yes it’s a choke lever it’s hard to see , but it has sticker pointing it out , This generator is a beast had mine for 5 yrs just used it for first time 8/11/20 had gas in it & everything started up & ran like a champ , had 2 full size fridges , sump pump , injection pump & 65 gallon fish plugged up didn’t budge 👍🏾

User questions & answers

Question: start a 13500 btu AC
Answer: We have a 13,500 BTU A/C in out 2004 Mountaineer and this generator starts and runs it with no problems. We leave the generator in "economy" mode all the time and it naturally revs up when the A/C starts up, but has never failed to do its job. Also, we run it only on propane... it's never had a drop of gasoline in it.
Question: Looks like it would weigh more with the battery and starter. Not much heavier than the 75531i
Answer: Rope start backup.
Question: How to connect to 500 gal tank
Answer: mine is connected to our 500 gal tank but it took some work going back & forth between the tech at champion (have to get the right one) and my propane company. i had propane company put a quick disconnect valve at the house, where the propane goes into the house on the low side of the step down valve, then i had them make me a 20' hose that connects to the diaphragm / hose that champion provides minus their regulator. There is a limit on how long the new hose can be as the pressure will drop with distance and you do need a minimum about of gas pressure for it to work. (see other answer from Champion here). Triple check w/ both Champion & your propane company. Also when you turn it on to run, the gen will have to pull out the air in the hose, takes several short cranks on the gen and if it's cold out you may end up having to pull the cord - takes some practice w/ the choke. Once the propane is flowing it's easier to restart if you don't disconnect the hose from either end. I used it this way for 22 hrs recently and it worked like a charm. Don't forget to check the oil regularly. The diaphragm must be exposed to ambient air pressure but also must stay dry.
Question: Does this come with the lp hose? And what connection is it
Answer: Yes it does. The hose connection is std. 3/8 propane connection like a barbeque uses.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this generator be hooked up to a larger (100+ gallon) propane tank, with some type of adapter
Answer: You need a POL to QCC1 adapter like this or similar. ( SHINESTAR Propane Tank Gauge and Hoses https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0ILKIJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_dmVNBbFV8KWDT) Just bought one of these generators for my in laws and a new 100# tank right before hurricane Florence.
Question: Can I run a fridge and a freezer
Answer: Definitely. I ran my furnace, fridge, heater for the fish tank, a bunch of lights and phone chargers. Just remember to start the generator first, let it warm up some, pull one thing it at a time and you'll be fine.
Question: What is the decibel noise rating
Answer: Remember folks that this is a air cooled engine which are notoriously noisy engines by design. The engine does have a large muffler which helps a lot with exhaust noise but this generator has a open cabinet and doesn’t have an enclosed cabinet so all the machinery noise from the engine and generator goes everywhere. Noise is relative to different people. If a rattling noise is what bothers you but low sounds don’t bother you, you might consider a more expensive model that is enclosed. If rattles don’t bother you but low sounds do, then this is a good product for you. Personaly I knew what I was buying. An open generator that is going to make some sort of racket so I made a very nice enclosure and mine produces 65db at 5 feet. All generators of this price that are air cooled and not enclosed make a lot of noise. It’s more of a matter of what you or your neighbors can tolerate.
Question: if battery goes dead can it be started manually
Answer: yes, but only if using propane as a fuel source. if using gasoline then the recoil start won't work without a charged battery attached. I have tried it, and Champion customer service confirmed this.

User questions & answers

Question: Will the iGen2200 be adequate to supply power to an ordinary apartment with full-sized refrigerator, computer, lighting, but no AC
Answer: Should be as long as you do not have any high power demand requirements hooked up like blow dryers, heaters, frying pans, microwaves etc. Just stick to the frig, computers, a few lights and you will be fine. There is a power meter onboard so if you get to the power limit you will know and can remove a few items to stay within limits.
Question: If I want to plugin my electronics like my fan and laptop, phones, etc, do I need to buy additional cabling? thanks
Answer: Hi! The great thing about inverter generators is that they are perfect for powering sensitive electronics like your laptop and cellphone so there is no need buy additional cabling for that purpose. There is two standard 120V 20A household outlets and two 5V USB ports. If you wish to connect more items than the number of receptacles allow, then we recommend buying an additional power strip to accommodate for that.
Question: I ordered the igen2200 peak watts and what I received says on the box 2000.... anybody else get that
Answer: peak watts means it can produce that much for a short period but will run long term at 2000. it's like overrevving a car engine. you would not run it at 6000 rpm for very long if you want it to last.
