| Answer: | Yes, It works great for me. It securely bolts to the frame of my trailer. The beam is 2 inches wide. There was plenty of length left on the bolts to fasten to a 3 inch beam trailer. The weld seems good. There is no locking mechanism but I just use a bicycle cable lock. I run it through one of the holes on the rim and wrap it around the beam. Works great. I read some of the other reviews where the weld broke and the tire came off. My spare is a 4.80X12R so its light and not so big. There is not much weight on the weld. I cannot speak for larger tire. Make sure it is tightly bolted to the carrier and it is not bouncing around. With that, the bicycle cable lock is also a safety just incase the weld does break. Another point that people have had issues with welds breaking. Their trailer may have bad tires and bad suspension. I just put on new tires and new springs on my trailer so it does ride very smooth, no sway and little bounce. All in all, I would recommend this spare tire carrier. It looks good and does its job. |
