14 best drippers
Drippers, in the context of gardening and irrigation, are a type of automatic irrigation equipment used to deliver a slow and controlled flow of water directly to the root zones of plants. These devices are commonly used in gardens, landscapes, and agricultural settings to ensure efficient and targeted watering. Here's what you need to know about drippers:
Purpose: Drippers are designed to provide a precise and localized water supply to individual plants or specific areas of a garden or field. This method of irrigation minimizes water wastage and helps ensure that plants receive the right amount of moisture.
Types: There are various types of drippers available, including:
Drip Emitters: These are small devices that emit water drops or a steady trickle of water directly onto the soil near the plant's root zone.
Drip Tubing or Hose: Drip tubing or hoses are perforated or have built-in emitters spaced at regular intervals. They can be laid out along rows of plants or buried beneath mulch to deliver water slowly and evenly.
Drip Stake Emitters: These are small stakes with built-in drip emitters that can be inserted into the ground near individual plants.
Advantages:
Water Efficiency: Drippers are highly efficient, as they deliver water precisely where it's needed, reducing water wastage and minimizing the risk of overwatering.
Healthy Plants: Drippers promote healthier plant growth by providing consistent moisture levels, which can prevent soil erosion, root rot, and surface runoff.
Weed Control: Since drippers deliver water directly to the plant's root zone, they can help suppress weed growth by keeping the soil surface drier.
Customizable: Drippers can be customized to suit the specific watering needs of different plants. You can adjust the flow rate, spacing, and placement of drippers to accommodate various plant types and soil conditions.
Automation: Drippers can be integrated into automated irrigation systems, allowing you to set schedules and control the watering duration and frequency. This is especially useful for large gardens or agricultural fields.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance, such as cleaning and flushing the system, is necessary to prevent clogs in the emitters and ensure the system's longevity.
In summary, drippers are an essential component of modern irrigation systems, providing an efficient and water-saving way to deliver moisture to plants. They offer precise control over watering, promoting healthier plant growth and conserving water resources in gardening, landscaping, and agricultural applications.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is anyone else experiencing more than 2 gallons per hour with these emitters |
Answer: | It depends on what the supply water pressure is. If your house is greater than 60 psi. You may want to consider a whole house pressure regulator. You can also buy an inline hose pressure regulator that drops the pressure to 25 psi. Which is what a lot of irrigation people recommend. |
Question: | will this work with 1/4 " ID tubing |
Answer: | yes, that is what it is 1/4" |
Question: | Once I puncture a hole in the 1/2 inch and plug the green side into the 1/2, can I still run 1/4 inch from the black side |
Answer: | No. The Green side plugs into a hole which you have punched into the SIDE of the 1/2" tubing. The black side, which is the drip head itself is still exposed. Since you punched a hole in the SIDE of the tubing, the tubing is still continuous. You can then attach additional drip heads to the continuous tubing. Of course, at some point, you will have to plug the end of the tubing to create pressure inside the tubing. What I find works best is to create a "loop", i.e. route the tubing all the way around the desired area and attach it with a T to the original water source. Don't buy a pressure "regulator." It's just a restrictor to limit water flow which in turn controls pressure. You can do the same thing with an ordinary spigot. Just open the spigot enough to get the dripper flow rate you desire. |
Question: | Can these be plugged directly into a length of 1/2” hose without using 1/4” runners |
Answer: | You can attach these to 1/4 inch tubing or puncture a hole in the 1/2 inch and plug the green side into the 1/2 |

Sadly, at this point in the listing, we’ll have already lost the less discerning coffee drinker. They’ll have hauled themselves into their cars and vacantly wandered into some faceless coffee chain by now. They’ll mindlessly guzzle down their joe. It won’t occur to them to wonder why it tastes bitter and like it was made last Tuesday. We feel for these poor folks, we really do. But what can we do? As the old saying goes; you can lead an absolute simpleton to outrageously good coffee, but you can’t make them drink.
On the other hand, there’s you. The fact that you’re still reading all the way down this long, rambling listing indicates you’re a coffee-drinker of impeccable distinction. You’ve already demonstrated you’re sensible (and good-looking) enough to spot a bargain when you see one. So we’ll leave it there. Be a darling, though will you? User questions & answers
Question: | what water pressure should be used with these droppers |
Answer: | Most information seems to be 25 PSI, I'm using them at 30 PSI and they are working without problems. |
Question: | How many of these 1 gph drippers can i install onto a 1/2" line at 25psi without slowing down the 1 gph rate |
Answer: | Measure the water flow with a big container at the far end of the main line. It is 5.5 Gallon per minute in my situation. So the max water flow is about 330 GPH, about 330 1gph drippers. |
Question: | Black is usually 1 gal per hour. What is the flow rate of this totally green dropper |
Answer: | 2 gallons per hour for the green ones. 1 gallon for the black or blue ones. 1/2 gallon for the red or orange ones. |
Question: | can i insert these directly into my 1/2" tubing |
Answer: | Yes you can but it is not self puncher type. You'll need to punch hole in tubing first. |
- SIZE: For use with any 1/4" Inch tubing size - 4 to 7 mm (Can also be punched into 1/2 drip tubing).
- PREVENT LEAKS & BLOWOUTS: These emitters are designed with an operating pressure: up to 25 PSI. If your system is over that number blowouts and poor performance will occur.
- DESIGN: Barb design ensures tubing will not slip out or blow off at high pressure and temperature NOTE: THE MAXIMUM RECOMMENDED AMOUNT OF FITTINGS PER ZONE AT 25PSI IS QTY.22 IF YOU EXCEED THIS AMOUNT YOU MAY HAVE INSUFFICIENT WATER PRESSURE.
- ECO FRIENDLY: Provide water directly where you need it without any overspray!
- EASY TO INSTALL: Install emitters directly into the 1/2 main line or branch off with 1/4 inch tubing and connect fittings to the ends!

User questions & answers
Question: | What plastic are these made from? Is appears to be Polypropylene (pp; number 5 for recycling). Is it |
Answer: | There is no number on the item. I will say that this item works much better than most emitters I used that cost a lot more. It can spray out or up or both. The volume of spray is easily adjustable from off to full volume. |
Question: | I can't get these to mist, just a straight shot of water out the top. Do yours mist out the top |
Answer: | Same here. It just a straight shot of water |
Question: | How do you get the peices to fit together |
Answer: | 1/4” blank tubing, barbed tees and a main distribution line. Watch YouTube video on drip irrigation. It’s not hard to install. |
Question: | Maximum gph? Maximum diameter |
Answer: | Maximum gph:18.5;Maximum diameter:1800mm/70.8Inch |
- Max water flow rate of our drip emitters is 9 gallons-per-hour, suitable for lawn, garden, flower beds, vegetable gardens, herbs gardens, etc. Especially for large garden.
- Height 18cm/7inch, compared to the market, our drip emitters stakes have increased by 2 inches, which will make it more stable to fix in place.
- Spray diameter from 0 to 20inch. Flexible adjustable water flow while using, no matter you want it larger, smaller, or turn off. Our drip emitters can achieve what you need.
- These drip emitters are ONLY suitable for 1/4 inch irrigation tube with 4mm inner diameter, also can be inserted to a 1/2 inch or larger irrigation tube directly. Make sure soak the end of hose by hot water before connecting.
- Common matching accessories have 1/4 inch couplings and barbed tees. These drip emitters are detachable and very easy to clean. Don't worry about clogging.
User questions & answers
Question: | Well i be able to run about 90 of these on 1/2 tube |
Answer: | Not a great idea. These will work but only let out a slow drip. Garden hose bib let’s out about 240 gallons per hour max. 50 emitters if balanced would be able to Put out 2 gallons per hour each. |
Question: | Do they have an adjustable water flow rate? If so, what is the water flow rate |
Answer: | Yes, it is adjustable. The water flow rate is from 0 to 9 gallons-per-hour. |
Question: | Can i add 4 one to each corner of my 65 gallon pots to get even watering. I also feed with dry ammendments so im looks for the top soil to get covered |
Answer: | You can. These are quite adjustable, from no flow to a lot. The radius of spray will increase with the flow adjustment, so just place them accordingly. I’ve made several “rings” for pots with these and they work great. |
Question: | The water is just trickling out of the top and not spraying in the fan pattern when I have them all the open |
Answer: | Remove the top and see if the water sprays a full heavy stream.. If it's a trickle you have blockage in the supply line mineral deposits or small stones clogging the line. If you have full pressure the clog is in the top spray head. Check and clear with a thin wire or even a sewing pin.. Should solve the problem... Not too many options to check on these. |
Product features
Small Tips:
*How many heads can be installed on a single 1/2 inch line?
This depends on the line pressure, the further from the start of the line the water pressure will drop off. Adjust the flow rate of every emitter to ensure that all of them have water.
*How to add these emitters to my exist watering system?
Create your lateral lines(1/4 inch tubing and couplings) BEFORE hooking them up to the main line. You also can punch a hole in the main line and insert the emitter to it directly.
