Answer:	I believe the label says to apply every 30 days or as needed. I found that I needed to apply it every 10-14 days or so. And of course after it rains you need to reapply. I found it works well but it got kind of expensive having to reapply so often.
Question:	Will it spread rock salt or only the smaller, more evenly sized (and more expensive) chemicals
Answer:	No it won't keep plants from growing. We use it to keep animals away from our bamboo. It works to keep them away.

Be sure to know the size of your lawn and grass type before you begin. Read and follow all directions for use on the label of the product that you are buying.

2. Fill

Designed to hold enough product to cover 2,500 sq. ft. Be sure not to overfill or over-apply.

Answer:	Yes, it will though not as wide as it would with the spreader motor engaged. Mostly, it will just drop it directly down. This is a problem when something clogs the gate opening and you try and clear it.

Answer:	It will actually work to spread shell corn, so if your seed is smaller than that yes it will.

Answer:	I don't know-never tried. One word of advice: CLEAN out the spreader after use! Like all fertilizer spreaders, the gears, etc. will corrode and lock up if not THOROUGHLY cleaned, especially with something alkaline, after each use.

Question:	Wheels in one pic are bolted together with 4 bolts and nuts, but the pic of the "whole" do not show the bolts. are they 2 or 1 piece wheels
Answer:	If I remember correctly they are 1 piece wheels, but I was never successful in getting it assembled.....
Question:	Does this have plastic gears? I have read a lot about these and ones with plastic gears wear out quickly
Answer:	No! The drive and the lever that sets the opening are metal. The covering over the metal is plastic to protect it from the elements. If I were allowed to take a picture and attach it, I would, it is NOT plastic. Most of the wear and tear parts are metal with the exception of the hopper, inflatable wheels, and the little fan that distributes the product from the hopper. The drive which determines how fast the little fan moves to distribute the product rotates based on the speed you are going. This is hooked to the same metal bar that rotates the wheels and then to the part that rotates the fan. I’m sure that I’m not using all the proper names because I’m not a mechanic, but hopefully this all is a non-techie view. The machine operates exceptionally well, and I can easily compare it to the ones costing $250 dollars. The mechanisms are all built the same with the exception of the hopper and the fan which distributes the production; in the $250 spreader these are metal. However, both still only spread 4’. If you spend more $400, you can get a spreader with an axial; this doesn’t have one! The wheels on this are big and far better than the $250 one I had! Hope this helps!

Question:	How many pounds of fertilizer does this spreader hold
Answer:	It hold the contents of a 5000 sq ft Scott’s fertilizer product. Think that is about 15-20 lbs. nice unit but you have to be careful on the opening since there is no established way to know in advance the flow. Trial and error. Start at low setting and take it slowly step by step.
Question:	Anything I have ever spread just gives scotts spreader settings, so how do you know what the equivalent setting is using the earthway
Answer:	The spreader comes with a chart that you can use. You basically look at the lbs of the bag you bought vs the sq ft that the bag says it covers. You can use those numbers in the chart to get a value, then you look at another chart it came with and that tells you the setting to use on the spreader. I can't say it is 100% accurate, but that is how they say to do it. I used mine for the first time a few weeks ago and the amount coming out seemed about what I thought it should. Hope that helps.

Question:	Can you broadcast pellets like milorganite and shin nong pro
Answer:	I bought mine to use to spread Milo. I usually throw down 12 bags. Sadly, this spreader doesn’t hold an entire bag so I had to refill constantly. I ended up buying a Lesco 80lb spreader and called it a day. It can fit nearly 3 bags at a time. I also use BayState Fertilizer which is similar to Milo and. I can fit 2 of the 40lb bags easily. One other thing I wasn’t a fan of was it seemed like products like grubex empties way too quickly when on the “correct” setting, so make sure you use your judgement and adjust the setting as you go. Answer:	I have not been able to find them. I oil mine before each usage. They last a lot longer. Just buy a new one.
Question:	Can you use this product to spread mulch in gardens
Answer:	I don't think so. Mulch is way too coarse for a spreader.
Question:	do the seeds glump at the bottom of the spreader
Answer:	I have not had any problem with seeds clumping. As with any brodcast spreader things need to be dry and keep an even speed on the fan or crank. I love my spreader. It does get tireing on the back, if you have a full bag, but then take a little break
Question:	Can it spread hard corn kernels
Answer:	Probably, depending on the size of the kernels... The hole which the seed drops thru is adjustable it would have to be a bit of an experiment to get the flow to suit the kernel size and flow rate the way you want it. I would go for it.

Answer:	Yes but I don't know what setting you may have to use to get proper coverage. If it is very fine seed you may have to spread in the morning or evening when there is little to no wind.

Answer:	I used dolomitic lime and after about 10 bags, I stripped the gears.

Answer:	I would think it would dry just fine. The bag is kind of a nylon material and the rest is plastic. You may risk some residual crusting in the gearing so rinse it good. That would be my only concern/thought.

Answer:	I used it to spread grass seed - worked great as it it very surgical as compared to a broadcast spreader. I used it to seed all down my driveway line and some larger spots. I would think that flower seeds would be fine unless they are super small - because the may come out a bit fast - but you can only have 2-3 holes open instead of the 10-12 that are there. Its like a giant salt shaker!
Question:	How does it screw on? How do you unscrew the lid
Answer:	The lid screws directly on the top of the unit. The advantage to this product opposed to any of the other is the handle is actually part of the lid making it extremely strong. Look at the photos in the listing. There are 2 with the lid removed so you can see it. Thanks!
Question:	My Mom is *3 and can't drag bags of rock salt around. How much area will a container cover as don't to have to keep going up and down the driveway
Answer:	Hello from snowy MN!! It really depends on how thick she wants to lay it out. It holds up to 80oz. We have a walkway about 30 feet long to our garage and it easily covers this area with left over. The best part is we scoop out just the amount we need from the bag and go from there. We get it...those bags are heavy!!
