Answer:	Yes, it can be used for both seed, fertilizer, salt, etc. The assembly instructions/diagrams are a little weak, but if you are used to assembling items then you should have no problems. I did use it for salt and it worked great and I tend to buy the cheap course salt. I am going to buy another one to keep at our rental property. Happy spreading!!

Answer:	Not likely. The gears in the unit are plastic and didn’t last but one winter when I used it to spread salt. The only possible way it will spread sand is if the sand is 100% dry and you only spread 10 pounds of it at a time. Good luck.

Answer:	If the Chapin 82088 spreader is not properly maintained, prolonged exposure of hopper, frame and steel parts to magnesium chloride can develop surface rust. This is why it is not recommended for use with magnesium chloride.

Answer:	The flip top doesn't go all the way back, but it's not a problem if you use this product as intended. I'd assumed this was a French press/travel mug combo when I bought it, but it is not. It's a French press/thermos. It keeps my coffee nice and hot and then I pour what I want to drink into my coffee mug. I tend to drink my coffee slowly, so it's been great to be able to sip a little coffee at a time and then pour some more hot coffee into my cup. It stays hot in the thermos for over an hour.
Question:	The instructions say not to tilt the unit when there's salt in it. How do you get extra salt out without broadcasting it out

Question:	I use very small pellet salt so will this work since it is designed for large rock salt
Answer:	It will work, it’s going to be trial & error as far as how much to open the chute....I leave my hand on mine until I got it where it needs to be. Start slow, as this spreader will dump it out FAST. I use mine commercially for rock salt & Dow flake. First season for mine, if it only lasts through this year (I’m sure it will) then it was Worth the $150, if it doesn’t last for next year, I will have no problem buying another 1. Better than any $250 spreader I’ve had.
