12 best organic soils
Organic soils, often referred to as organic garden soil or organic potting soil, are specially formulated soil mixes designed for gardening and horticultural purposes. These soils are enriched with organic matter, nutrients, and beneficial microorganisms to support plant growth and health. Here are some key points about organic soils:
Organic Matter: Organic soils contain a high percentage of organic matter, which includes materials such as compost, peat moss, and well-rotted manure. This organic matter provides essential nutrients, improves soil structure, and enhances water retention.
Nutrient-Rich: Organic soils are typically nutrient-rich, with essential plant nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Some may also include trace minerals to support plant growth.
Microbial Life: Healthy organic soils contain a diverse community of beneficial microorganisms, including bacteria and fungi. These microbes contribute to nutrient cycling, disease suppression, and overall soil fertility.
pH Balance: Organic soils are often pH-balanced to ensure that they fall within the optimal pH range for most plants. Proper pH is crucial for nutrient availability to plants.
Aeration: Good organic soils are well-aerated, allowing for oxygen to reach plant roots. This promotes healthy root development and prevents soil compaction.
Moisture Retention: The organic matter in these soils helps retain moisture, reducing the frequency of watering and promoting drought resistance in plants.
Versatility: Organic soils come in various formulations for different gardening needs. There are blends suitable for indoor potted plants, raised beds, container gardening, vegetable gardens, flower beds, and more.
Potting Mixes: Organic potting mixes are a type of organic soil designed for use in containers and pots. They provide the necessary support and nutrients for container plants.
Sustainability: Organic soils often emphasize sustainable and eco-friendly practices. They may be sourced from responsibly managed and renewable resources.
Chemical-Free: Organic soils are typically free from synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This makes them a preferred choice for organic gardening.
Certifications: Some organic soils may carry certifications like the USDA Organic seal, ensuring that they meet specific organic standards.
Amendments: Gardeners can further enhance organic soils by adding organic soil amendments, such as compost, worm castings, or organic fertilizers, to tailor the soil to the specific needs of their plants.
Organic soils provide a fertile and environmentally friendly foundation for successful gardening and plant cultivation. They are particularly popular among organic gardeners who prioritize sustainable and chemical-free growing practices. When selecting an organic soil, consider the specific needs of your plants and the type of gardening you are undertaking to choose the right blend for your needs.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this shipped in a box |
Answer: | It’s a sunscreen so it should prevent you from tanning. It has a tint so you will get some temporary color on your skin. |
Question: | How many gallons is 1.5 Cu |
Answer: | Don’t think so |
Question: | How well was this packaged |
Answer: | I didn’t think it got any darker when reapplying. I really love this product and wish it was slightly darker. |
Question: | How many bags I need to fill 10 3gal pots |
Answer: | People really gave you some weird answers. Smh what they mean by tinted is that it has a slight brown color (typically iron oxide). When it’s rubbed in you won’t be able to tell that it’s tinted. Typically mineral sunscreen will leave a white cast (it will make your skin look ghostly white), but because this is tinted it doesn’t leave a white cast. It doesn’t look or feel like makeup. It isn’t for a starter tan smh. It’s to prevent the white cast and offers people with melasma some protection from visible light. 👌🏼 |

Product features
MYCORRHIZAE
Mycorrhizae is a plant-healthy fungus that goes beyond protecting the root system. This naturally occurring growth enhancement helps magnify root establishment. This fungus enhances nutrition levels in the soil without artificial fertilizers.
- Higher plant yield
- Larger production of fruits and nuts
WORM CASTINGS
Act as an extended barrier to plant roots when soil conditions hit extremes. These tiny healthy enzymes assist in root stability in soil conditions that are not ideal. Not to mention they can act as a flushing agent, removing toxins from the roots and soil.
- Luscious, vibrant green foliage
- Thicker, longer root systems
COCONUT COIR
Is a textured agent that creates air pockets in the soil. This can be extremely helpful in aerating the soil of plants that are kept in containers. It is a highly recommended draining agent as well as it has a neutral pH balance and does not affect overall pH when added to mix.
- Colorful and fragrant flowering periods
- Increased durability to environment change
COMPOSTED PINE BARK
Works as an absorbing agent of both nutrients and water. Composted Pine Bark chips can retain and drain water, which helps balance moisture levels throughout the entire container. The same applies for nutrients in the soil. These chips will absorb and hold nutrients that the roots can access when necessary.
PEAT MOSS
Sphagnum peat moss is incredibly beneficial to soil due to its ability to absorb almost 20 times its weight in water. This allows for a naturally-occurring fungi to grow; which aids in flushing toxins away from the soil. Moss also contains major and minor nutrients that are essential to almost all plant life.
PERLITE
Is a potting medium that allows aeration in the soil. Often times soil will compact together, suffocating certain sections of the container. This often times keeps plant roots from expanding to their fullest potential. Perlite assists in creating air pockets within the soil for roots to grow comfortably and access nutrients.

User questions & answers
Question: | What are the ingredients in this bag of soil? I'm looking for something that is animal cruelty free. As in no bone or blood meal, etc. Thanks |
Answer: | It should not! |
Question: | Any problem with fungus gnats? i know miracle grow has become infamous for them |
Answer: | It has basic fertilizer/worm castings mixed into it, but could benefit from another source of fertilizer being added. |
Question: | What is the ph level of this soil |
Answer: | Allowing for the plants themselves (which were in trade gallon pots) and a drainage layer at the bottom, I was easily able to get one bag to suffice for ~five 10" planter pots. |
Question: | How many of this bag to fill a 10 gallon pot |
Answer: | Great question. Currently it is under review. However the ingredients all come from the earth, Peat Moss a natural growing moss found in Canada. Perlite, which is ancient volcanic glass that is mined. Composted pine bark, which is the bark off of natural grown pine trees common over the southern United States. Worm Castings, which is short for worm poop. Coir, which is short for coconut hair. Last and our favorite ingredient is Mycorrhiza, which is natural occurring fungus found in nature that increase the root's ability to absorb nutrients and water from the soil by increasing the surface absorbing area of roots. Together these organic products are mixed together to make the perfect mix your plants will love! |
