14 best cannabis nutrients
Cannabis nutrients are essential for the healthy growth of cannabis plants. Properly feeding your cannabis plants with the right balance of nutrients is crucial for maximizing their growth and potency. Here are some key points about cannabis nutrients:
Macronutrients: Cannabis requires three primary macronutrients, often referred to as NPK:
- Nitrogen (N): Nitrogen is vital for vegetative growth and the development of leaves.
- Phosphorus (P): Phosphorus is crucial for flower development and root growth.
- Potassium (K): Potassium plays a key role in overall plant health and resilience.
Secondary Nutrients: In addition to NPK, cannabis plants also need secondary nutrients like calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and sulfur (S) in smaller quantities.
Micronutrients: Cannabis plants require trace elements such as iron (Fe), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), and boron (B) for various metabolic processes.
Organic vs. Synthetic Nutrients: You can choose between organic and synthetic nutrients. Organic nutrients are derived from natural sources and provide a slower release of nutrients, while synthetic nutrients are chemically formulated and offer more precise control.
Nutrient Ratios: Different growth stages of cannabis plants require different nutrient ratios. For instance, during the vegetative phase, higher nitrogen levels are needed, while during the flowering phase, higher phosphorus and potassium levels are essential.
pH Balance: Maintaining the correct pH level of the soil or growing medium is crucial for nutrient uptake. Cannabis typically thrives in a pH range between 6 and 7.
Feeding Schedule: Follow a feeding schedule that matches the growth stages of your plants. Many nutrient manufacturers provide detailed guidelines for different growth phases.
Overfeeding and Underfeeding: Overfeeding or underfeeding your cannabis plants can lead to nutrient deficiencies or toxicities. Monitor your plants for signs of nutrient problems, such as discolored leaves or stunted growth.
Flush Before Harvest: It's essential to flush your plants with plain water in the final weeks before harvest to remove excess nutrients, which can affect the flavor and quality of the final product.
Soil vs. Hydroponic Growing: The type of growing medium you use (soil, hydroponics, or soilless mix) will affect your nutrient requirements. Hydroponic systems typically require more precise nutrient management.
Nutrient Brands: Many reputable brands produce cannabis-specific nutrient solutions. It's essential to choose a product that suits your growing method and goals.
Composting and Organic Matter: Improving the soil with organic matter and compost can help provide a steady supply of nutrients to your cannabis plants.
Remember that while these are general guidelines, specific strains and growing conditions may require adjustments to your nutrient regimen. It's important to monitor your plants closely and adjust nutrient levels as needed for optimal growth and a successful harvest.

User questions & answers
Question: | Do I use all three in every stage of the grow |
Answer: | Yes the directions say to use all three in conjunction with each other but in different proportions for the stage of growth that your plant is in. |
Question: | If you’re supposed to always use all three at the same time, why don’t they just come in one bottle? Can I mix them all together to save time |
Answer: | It causes a chemical reaction and nutrients will precipitate out of the solution and become unavailable for uptake by the plant. Must be mixed in proper order and with the recommended amount of water. |
Question: | How long will a liter last you |
Answer: | A liter not make quite 3 weeks my res is 150 liters so I use 600ml a week |
Question: | Can these 3 be used in soil |
Answer: | Yes, I have been doing so for over 5 years now using Advanced Nutrients in soil only. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do i add this to water that is already balanced or do i mix it then set pH for my needs. I guess what im asking is is it neutral |
Answer: | I have to very slightly adjust PH, down, as always, after adding nutes. My tap water has a TDS of 90-ish ppm and a PH of 8 out of tap. When mixed in 5 gallon buckets... I add 20 ml of each ( Micro, Grow, Bloom: in that order) I end up with a TDS of 480 - 500 ppm and a PH of 6.2 ish. Growing hydro lettuce (Kratky and DWC) So I drop 4-5 drops of PH Down in the bucket and things look good, dropping PH into the high 5's. |
Question: | I dont see how often you apply just the strenght |
Answer: | On the website it says that if you dump your reservoir once a week then you can top it off with just plain water in between. The table on the bottle is not for any photoperiod plants so please check their website as they do have a feeding schedule for photoperiod plants, such as medical marijuana. They will not answer any questions regarding marijuana so never say or use any term referring to marijuana. So far this may be my favorite hydro fertilizer I have used, it's easy to use, helps stabilize PH and has made my plants grow much faster, not to mention how great the root growth is. |
Question: | Approximately how many gallons of nutrient solution will this make |
Answer: | 1 (US) fluid ounce, equals 6 (US) teaspoons. So it's 6 times the amount of ounces in bottle for the total amount of teaspoons telling you how many gallons you can get. With a 32 oz bottle if you use one teaspoon per gallon of water that's 102 gallons of mix. 204 gallons of mix if you only use half a teaspoon. |
Question: | Is it necessary to mix 2 tonics together? How much tonic do I use if I have a 20 gallon reservoir |
Answer: | I grow in soil. The soil I use is already rich in nutrition "Happy Frog". I use about 1/2 teaspoon of FloraGro & 1/2 teaspoon FloraMicro per Gallon of water. I water every 3 to 4 days depending on the Moisture of the soil. Every 3rd feeding I flush the plants with pure water and let the soil to dry until I notice stress in the plant and resume feeding. When it's time to induce flowering I quit using FloraGro. And start using 1 teaspoon FloraBloom and 1 teaspoon FloraMicro and follow the same feeding schedule as above. The FloraMicro is very important for overall health and vigor of the plant. About 10 days before harvest I flush with a 1/2 teaspoon FloraBloom and FloraMicro, 5 days before harvest I flush with pure water and let dry out for 5 to 6 days then harvest. Very IMPORTANT! Is the Ph of your water after adding your fertilizer and when you flush with pure water. I keep my Ph @ 6.0 Just a helpful hint. Happy growing! |

Question: | Can you use these for coco |
Answer: | We are an organic farm and the Tiger Bloom is not organic, so we don't know about that product. Would seem to be the same products based on their purposes, and so using both would seem redundant to use both. |

Answer: | Yes |

Twin Canaries Liquid Volume Conversion Chart
Soil Feeding Schedule
Use your preferred FoxFarm potting soil when transplanting seedlings into larger containers. We recommend a two gallon size or larger. FOR BEST RESULTS: Feed up to two times per week. Maintain a pH of 5.6 to 6.8 to prevent nutrient lockout and reduce stress on plants. Never mix pure concentrates together; always add water first. Should plants show signs of stress or color irregularities, flush your system. When using coco-based media, flush every two weeks during the flowering cycle as coco has a tendency to retain unwanted salt residue more than peat-based soils.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the n-nitrogen, p-phosphorus, k-potassium |
Answer: | I dont know BUT I do know this. I have used it on my flowers and my vegis and My tomatoes were the largest yield in my 57 years and the plants were over 14 feet tall, ( yes i said 14 feet tall ), with yields all the way to the top and until late Oct. This is the best fert. I have found on the market. My fruits are HUGE, my houseplants and porch plants are vibrant and multi flowering. I cannot say enough good things about it. My melons were huge, my beans were too abundant to eat all of them and I have used many many products. I checked my box and it is not on the side panel. I use one tablespoon to a gallon watering bucket, 1x every 2 weeks, and within an hour of using it, each time, The plants act like Ive given them a B12 booster. The difference in the ones that got it, and didnt ( the 1st year) were day and night. My impatience had a growth diff. of over 2 feet in height and 1 foot in girth, ( we couldnt see over them if sitting on the back deck, to see the kids playing on the trampoline), they had HUGE blooms that cont. to flower way past typical season, where as the ones not getting it, were mini's by comparison. Same soil. Same light and same new growth plantings. This went for deco greens and bushes, fruit trees and vegetables. I WAS AMAZED |
Question: | Why can't you ship to my location |
Answer: | That would prob mean you are off the routing or in a small town or country location. Try getting a POBox near a major city. Contact Amazon |
Question: | Is this really organic |
Answer: | It's labeled "OMRI", and must've passed "OMRI" requirements to be so! I noticed "Nitrate of Soda"(Sodium Nitrate?). Which I don't see often, higher salts, but maybe that's a natural version. Also, "Sulfate of Potash" (Potassium Sulfate), which is commonly listed on Organic products. I'm still not sure if they're the same thing, different wording, or if they're man made. Like Magnesium Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, etc, which are accepted as Organic, because there the same molecular make-up as the naturally occurring elements. I'm not surprised "Miracle Gro" has a decent Organic product. I've been very impressed with "Doctor Earth" products! Especially "Doctor Life", w/ lots of beneficial microbes, probiotics! "Humic Acid", also, will really help Organics! Chelating many nutrients for faster intake, with better, healthier growth. ...hint; add some endo-mycorizzae! Just sprinkle a bit on the rootball and a bit below. A Big difference maker for Organics! And always have fun! |
Question: | Does this product meet requirements for organically grown vegetables |
Answer: | It says it's organic, but there are no "certified organic" designations on the product. Looking at the ingredients, it appears to be clean and free of nasties. I can tell you that the product works phenomenally! |

User questions & answers
Question: | How much liquid does the pipette hold |
Answer: | There was only one bell in the box. |
Question: | Is this organic |
Answer: | Unfortunately, many items we purchase in the USA, are made in China. This bell is made in China. However, it is stainless steel, very high quality, and most importantly my African Grey absolutely ADORES IT. |
Question: | Does it have to be special soil |
Answer: | The one I ordered was the Small. The bell itself is about 3.5" long, with the chain approximately 7.5" long. The sound is not super-loud, but I love that about this bell, because it's not annoying. |
Question: | is tiger bloom the last stage of product to use in the end of flowering or is it fox farm Big bloom |
Answer: | Yes, it is solid stainless. The thing I really like is that because of the elongated shape, my African Grey can in no way get the clapper out of the bell, although he tries. Most bells I've bought for him, he works on them for a few days and I end up taking them away because he loosens the clapper which is a choking hazard. |

Big Blooms & Buds – N5 Fresh Fish Liquid Concentrate, P5 Fish & Kelp Liquid Concentrate, K5 Ocean Kelp Liquid Concentrate have been developed especially for flowering and bud cultivation. Compare NPKs! This 3-part system focuses on macronutrient emphasis of Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium for ease of transition at each growing stage. This allows you to feed your plants only that which they need at each stage. By isolating each macronutrient, the BB&B system enables growers to monitor plants for specific results and to control nutrient supply by their choice of product and the custom dilution from 1/2 oz. to 2oz. of product per gallon of water. Can be applied to soil / media or as a foliar spray.
- Suite Developed for Flowering and Bud Cultivation
- Compare NPKs N5 = 5-4-2, P5 = 2-5-1, K5 = 0-0-5
- Makes up to 24 gallons at 1-2 oz. to 1 gallon of water dilution
- Naturally sourced to prevent chemical exposure
- Increase your harvest, your blooms, your produce quality
User questions & answers
Question: | Does this product have a smell to it |
Answer: | Yes, a very strong smell. The smell depends on which formula you are using. By the way, it’s smell attracts critters also! |
Question: | Can it be used for a hydro set up |
Answer: | We have customers using it in hydroponic systems. Because Big Blooms & Buds is biologically active, the water may need to turn over more often than with chemical nutrients. |
Question: | Is there a feeding chart for this |
Answer: | On the listing their is a chart called the Gradual Transition Treatment Model. Due to to the variety of grow media, plant development, strains and other supplements that may be used, it is impossible to be that specific and be accurate for every situation. Our chart emphasizes starting with N5 at the vegetative state at a lower % per gallon (1/2 - 1oz. per gallon of water) to observe how the plant responds before increasing the concentration (to 2oz. per gallon of water), then as you observe the flowering stage, transition to P5, and at the final bud or fruiting stage, transition to K5. Observation of your plants is always key to determining when to leverage your Nitrogen (N5), your Phosphorous (P5) or your Potassium (K5). Thanks for using natural nutrients! |
Question: | How do I feed using all three products |
Answer: | Tiffany, thanks for your interest in Big Blooms and Buds. Each of our natural fertilizers offer specific nutrients to each stage of the growing process. N5 is used in the Growing process, P5 during the Bloom stage, and K5 in the Budding phase. Happy Growing! |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have read some of the reviews and noticed that this product may not be as simple to use as described. Does this have a good set of instructions and |
Answer: | We do include instructions and a detailed mixing chart. The most common questions about use that gardeners have are about how much to use when growing autos. Some varieties require much less nutrient then others and in this case we recommend starting out at about 50% strength and increasing if needed. If you have any specific questions you can use the contact seller option to get a direct response. Thanks for the question and happy growing! Matthew RxBlend |
Question: | Will this harm a living soil |
Answer: | Not At all, it will only enhance it with its organic, cold pressed nutrients |
Question: | How many plants can I grow with this kit at one time |
Answer: | If you are growing Autos it will at least do 10-15 autos So that’s about $6-8 per plant to feed them, isn’t to bad. When I plant autos I use a 3 gallon pot for indoors and 5 gallon pot for outside, because its hot here. When I water them depending on how many gallons the pot is. The first week I do 2 cups of food. 2nd wk 3 cups. 3rd week 4 cups. 4 wk 5-6 cups. The rest of the time 6 cups for 3 gallon pot. Im not sure if 3 gallon pot will handle 6 cups. Im not there yet. But 5 gallon pot can handle 8-10max after week 4. Its not a perfect science. For 5 gallon pot add 1-2 cups extra per week. Watch out and make sure that the plants doesn’t get to dark green. Or burnt tips. If you grew regular plants out side I don’t how long it will last. I use Fox farms stuff for outside. Other things I do with the water is adjust the ph and airiate the water with fish tank air pump. That helps get rid of the chlorine in the water. So far I like using prescription blend. I haven’t had a complete grow yet using this stuff. But everything is looking good. I got 2oz of goodies from a 1ft auto and 5oz from a 2ft plant. I got my seeds from I-49 seed store. If you send them a check don’t worry I got my seeds. If you are growing inside under Leds? I have lumem specs for that. Buy a $10 lumens checker that also checks moisture and Ph. Those work under leds. Led lumens specs are. Veg 400-550 Bloom 600-720 max. I like 460 for Veg and 660 for Bloom. You won’t find any lumens specs on the internet. It’s something my friend and I figured out so you don’t get light burn. I hope that I have helped you. |
Question: | Do you have to mix the base nutrients in a certain order like other brands |
Answer: | That is a great question! We recommend mixing Bio-Si first and the other components in any order. No matter what brand of nutrients are being used it is always best to mix the silica components before mixing chelated micronutrients. |

Question: | Do any of the products contained within this set contain chelated acids |

It is simply not registered or certified by any board because they require information that is proprietary and we are not willing to divulge. It is also very expensive and we do not have a large contingent of certified organic growers that use our products. So, it doesn't make financial sense. Thank you,Jesse Pennington"So, no, there are no chelated acids. |
