Answer:	It is used in special circumstances where you are feeding the power via coax from a remote location. The notation will not hut yu tv in any way.

Answer:	The pre-amp is used to amplify weak signals right at the antenna source. We used the Winegard LNA-200 mast mounted pre-amp. This unit is used to amplify signals if you (a) need to feed many rooms, and (b) have long cable runs. Each time you split the signal, you lose half the signal, so to get 8 outputs from one source, the signal at each output is only 12.5% of the source. Long cable runs can cause another 50% loss. By amplifying the signal at the splitter you can overcome many of the losses. In our situation we have 100-150 foot cable runs and found it necessary to amplify the signal at the TV end for two reasons (a) we have multiple devices (TV, DVR, DVD recorder, VCR) that need the signal and to (b) boost the gain after the long cable run. We checked the signal strength via the TV's meter and were always on the borderline between okay & good on a scale that reads fair, okay, good

Answer:	I'm not sure this is the way to improve performance. You have an amplified antenna - typically the built in amps are a medium to low quality. What you're proposing is to amplify a signal that has already been amplified. The amp in the antenna amplifies the signal that you want, but it also amplifies noise static and other stuff that you don't want, that's why this amp talks about low noise and filters. I'd use this amp with a non-amplified antenna. Consider mounting your current antenna another 10+ ft higher. That will improve range - cheap!

Answer:	Hello, Anne; You could purchase one of those white plastic panels such as is used for plumbing repairs. They are available at Home Depot or Lowes. If the wall is new construction, I would install blocking inside the wall cavity to mount the amplifier to. Do you best to assure adequate ventilation inside this one wall cavity, i.e., no insulation at the installation area. I hope this is helpful.

Answer:	The amplifier itself is rated for -40 to +140 degrees F. Personally, if you want it to work well you should mount it outside an attic... other areas should be ok, or in an enclosure outdoors.

Answer:	I've been a CATV/DOCSIS engineer since 1998. The optimal specification is to receive downstream channels around 0dBmV. (+/-15dBmV is the max range). As long as you are between -3dBmV and +3dBmV you will be good. Some channel receive levels will vary, but shouldn't vary too much. You want your modem transmitting upstream around 45dBmV to 47dBmV. My recommendation is to log into the modem's internal management to view the power levels, receive and transmit. This amplifier will increase your downstream receive power by +7.5dB and because it amplifies your upstream channel power, the modem will transmit 2.5dB lower. This is because the modem adjusts transmit power to reach the CMTS in the head end at 0dBmV. If the gain on this amplifier is too much, an attenuator can always be added to optimize the modem's receive and transmit levels. This amplifier will only help ensure the power levels are optimized and has no effect on speed. Power levels out of specification can produce errors and will effect your speed. I use this amplifier with a DOCSIS 3.1 modem and attenuators to provide the power range I described above. I have used the modem with this amplifier to get 1Gbps but currently I'm only subscribed to 70Mbps. If your power levels are already optimized, there is no benefit for buying this amplifier. The other benefit is that if you need extra ports, adding a 4 way splitter would cause a 7 dB loss on all four ports. Using this amplifier with a 3dB attenuator would essentially give you a lossless 4 way splitter with essentially no loss on the upstream and a 4 dB gain on the downstream channels. I think the amplifier would be better if the gains for both upstream and downstream were nearly the same, but at least you can attenuate (lower) the signal per port and customize it for your own home.
