Pruning: Prune your tomato plants as needed to remove excess foliage and improve air circulation, which can reduce the risk of diseases.
Fertilization: Use a balanced fertilizer or one specifically formulated for tomatoes to provide essential nutrients to your plants.
Harvesting:
New Boy tomatoes are typically ready for harvest when they reach full color, and the fruits are firm but slightly yielding to the touch.
Gently twist or cut the tomatoes from the vine, being careful not to damage the plant.

Common tomato pests include aphids, whiteflies, and hornworms. Regular inspection and appropriate pest control measures are essential.

User questions & answers
Question: | how often do you water the seedlings? This is after they've sprouted but before 3 inches tall. They're outside in summer weather. 72 degree to |
Answer: | 2x a day if it's hot. If the soil is dry...water them. |
Question: | what i am asking is once you seal in the greenhouse do you wait till its 4 inches then remove and repot and start watering? So while its in green hous |
Answer: | I put mine in the greenhouse bag with a little extra water in the bottom of the bag and then sealed the bags. I left them sealed on my front porch for about a month. Mine were between 3 and 4 inches high at which time I transplanted them all into a very large pot a few inches apart and gave them a cage to grow up on when they get bigger. They have grown several more inches in the last month and still going strong. I'm excited for when I start to actually see some tomatoes. I want to add that we are currently house shopping so next year since I'll have a lot more room at our new home I will be back to get more of these kits if Maui Mikes has them available for sale. |
Question: | Can these really be grown indoors? If so, what would I need |
Answer: | Yes, you can grow our Big Red Flower Pot Tomatoes indoors with a bright window or good artificial lights. Pick the brightest area in your house. A large South-Facing window is ideal. If you don't have a window the will work, install grow lights. Our Big Red Tomato Kit is ideal for starting your plants from seeds. Place the Peat Pot with potting mix into the Kid's Greenhouse. Add 3-6 seeds in each Pot. Water well and drain excess water in 5 minutes. Fold the Greenhouse top on the dotted line and tape shut. Place in warm sunny place. When plants are 4-6" tall weed out the small ones and leave the biggest plant in the pot. Plant your biodegradable pot with the tomato plant into a 5 gallon to 10 gallon Maui Mike's Fabric Soft Pot. Place a saucer underneath and place in South facing window or use grow lights. Water regularly every few days. Fertilize every week with a balanced fertilizer. Help Pollination: Tomatoes have perfect flowers which means that both the male and female parts of the plant are contained in each flower. You can help the pollination process along be gently shaking the stems every day or by placing a small oscillating fan in the area to mimic the wind. Also, try hand pollination by using a cotton swab and insert it into each flower to help them along. Turn your plant frequently so each side gets adequate sun. Stake the plant as needed to prevent the fruit from dragging and breaking the limbs. Winter growing tomatoes will produce in about the same time as their outdoor counterparts. Happy Gardening |
Question: | Do I need to have a stake or pole for vines to climb for this product |
Answer: | I always use a pole or wire cage for my Tomato plant as the tomatoes are size of baseball.Happy Gardening. |

Placing your seeds in less than 1/4 inch of soil will do.
It is important to know how deep you should plant your seeds. Seeds are a living embryo that contains enough energy to germinate and break the surface of the soil. If planted too deep, the seeds will run out of energy and die before they break the surface.
We recommend planting your seeds 1/4 inch in the soil.
Keep your soil moist, but not wet.
Over-watering will drown the seed. A good rule to follow is moist soil will have a dark healthy look to it. It will feel like brown sugar on your knuckle. Dry soil will be dull, flaky, and feel like salt.
The best watering for germinating is from the bottom. Placing your starter plants in a tray, and filling with 3/4 water, allows them to soak up the water they need.
Seeds need enough light to grow.
Most seeds need 14 to 16 hours of daylight a day, so if you are planting indoors, a grow light will be needed. A regular florescent or lamp light will not work. Placing your pots on a window sill will not work with most seeds since they do not get the full amount of light.
If your seeds are not getting enough light they will grow tall, thin, and then fall over.

Question: | Are these hybrid or heirloom seeds |
Answer: | Not sure, BUT, they aren't as big as the Beefsteak tomatoes I remember from when I was much younger. And because of all the "stuff" that's done today, I can only believe that they are hybrid. |
Question: | Are these heirloom seeds |
Answer: | Beefsteak should be heirloom! |
Question: | which one of the five different types of beefsteak tomatoes is this one |
Answer: | Beefmaster VFN (a popular hybrid beefsteak) Beefsteak VFN Big Beef Brandywine (a pink heirloom variety) Bucking Bronco Cherokee Purple a dusky red/purple beefsteak, said to have exceptional flavour Marmande Mortgage Lifter (another popular heirloom tomato) Pink Beefsteak Since it is NOT advertised as pink, brandywine, Mortgage lifter, Marmade, Cherokee Purple, Bucking Bronco, Beef Master or Big Beef it is likely Beefsteak VFN. Yes there are different types but each are usually attached to their specific name. I bought two packs and they grew nice large tomatoes. My germination was better than 85%. |
Question: | Where are these manufatured |
Answer: | Don't Waste your money...I don't know where they are from...and I don't think they know either...I planted these seeds last year...Not even one was a beefsteak...some cherry tomatoes...some that looked like plum...Nothing that resembled Beefsteak...and you don't find that out till they start making tomatoes...I don't trust this supplier...The seeds are suppose to be Non-GMO...I don't think they are |

Burpee exclusive. Only Burpee could improve a classic. Many gardeners consider Brandywine heirloom tomato to be the best tasting of all tomatoes. But as all tomato connoisseurs know, Brandywine has its drawbacks. The tomatoes are often misshapen with uneven shoulder ripening. The plants grow wildly, set fruit late in the summer & yield a sparse crop at best. But not 'Brandy Boy'! our new Hybrid Brandywine produces loads of large pink fruits, up to 5.5" across, that ripen evenly, with soft heirloom Texture, thin skin & that same incredible Brandywine flavor. Better yet the plants sport an upright more manageable growth habit. 'Brandy Boy' is an indeterminate variety, ready to pick 75-78 days after setting out plants. If you love tomatoes like we do, & especially the rich, tangy-sweet taste of Brandywine, don't miss 'Brandy Boy'!

The Best Picnic Tomato
Slicing tomatoes, also called salad tomatoes, have been a long time American favorite for picnic sandwiches and salads. What better way is there than to enjoy a garden fresh tomato on your sandwich while you're out enjoying nature with your family!
A Classic Tomato Flavor
Slicing tomatoes go great in a freshly assembled salad, particularly, a salad you grew yourself! This tomato mixes particularly well with other garden fresh vegetables!
Fun For Everyone
This rewarding tomato will make a great addition to the family garden this spring and your family will love sharing these tomatoes during your summer picnic! Invite friends over to enjoy barbecue burgers and fresh garden slicing tomatoes.
Heirloom Tomatoes
For some of the best and classic tomato flavors, grow heirloom slicing tomatoes. Heirloom tomato seeds are a variety of seed that have been around for 75 years or more. They have been passed down as each generation learns more about growing larger and more delicious fruits.
