The fine fescues are lower growing and blend well with wildflowers. Forty percent of this blend is creeping red fescue which is excellent for soil stabilization. It spreads through aggressive rhizomes to create a dense root system. Plant Legacy grass seed in the spring once soil temperature reaches 55F. If planting in the fall, allow a minimum of 8 weeks for establishment before the first frost. It is an excellent blend and covers very well and spreads out and fills in. I have large areas that get 90% shade and it grows almost as fast as the seeds in full sun. Very happy with this seed. Answer:	No. The grass is similar to a winter rye grass that that does OK in the cooler winter months, but died in Texas as soon as it got hotter and dry. I would not recommend this grass for any southern hot and dry climate.

Answer:	It will be probably be ok in Illinois. I have it in PA and it does fine. But it does turn white in early winter and stays that way till May till all of the dead grass disappears. The advantages in my opinion far out way the that. They are, when it fully takes hold, the thickness, slow growing, drought resistance, and it chokes out weeds because it is so thick. However I did not have good luck with this seed and planting plugs are a pain in the but. Hope this helps.

Most warm-season grasses should be planted in late spring to early summer, while cool-season grasses are better repaired in the fall. However, before repairing your bare spots, we recommend that you ensure that soil is healthy. Patchy spots are sometimes indicative of unhealthy soil. A frequent cause of this can be from pet urination.

How do I fix bare spots caused by dog urine?

If the bare spot was caused by dog urine, water thoroughly prior to planting. Flushing the area will dilute the concentrated salts and help the seed fully establish.

Answer:	Should be good. Seeding would be about now. It took 14 days to germinate which means it requires you to water lightly that entire time. Do not use in clay soil.

Answer:	You should be able to apply it in the fall as long as you are watering sufficiently. People often make the mistake of not watering plants just because it's cool. Fall planting would actually give the plants more time to get started. I planted Bermuda grass with my centipede knowing that centipede "sleeps, creeps and leaps" and takes a number of years to get thick and established enough to crowd out other weeds and grasses.

Answer:	I just spread it on soil that was very sandy and watered it in. I think it will do well in any soil as long as it is covered lightly with dirt and kept moist.
Question:	is fescue a perennial seed
Answer:	It really depends on how thick you sow it. I did an area about 12'x4' plus a smaller area 6'x3'. It came up fairly thick and did ok until late summer. The next spring it was pretty thin. This was the only seed I've had any luck with under 50 year old trees, but it took a lot of watering to get it started. I just decided it wasn't worth the cost and effort after planting it two years in a row.

Answer:	It work ok for me but still not great my area has very limited sun. Less than the 3 hours a day limit that that use as a guide. So I am still looking for a good seed in full shade my self. Were you have zero sun i would say it wont work maybe someone else has had better success than I ?

Answer:	The one I got from Amazon was 14.64% Endeavor II Tall Fescue, 14.63% Faith Tall Fescue, 14.62% Gazelle II Tall Fescue, along with 4.85 Wendy Jean Creeping Red Fescue. 0.01% were weed seeds with no noxious weeds found. 50% of the ingredients were the coating, 1% inert, and 0.25% was other crop. The batch I got in a 3-lb bag from my local Ace Hardware was 17.06% Endeavor II Tall Fescue, 17.05% Duration Tall Fescue, and 14.63% Gazelle II Tall Fescue. The 7-lb bag there was 17.06% Gazelle II Tall Fescue, 17.05% Endeavor II Tall Fescue, 9.74% Faith Tall Fescue, and 4.89% Dynamic II Tall Fescue. I'm undecided as to how I feel about that bit of creeping red in there, but I'm a little happier with the locally bought mixes versus the one from Amazon.
