| Answer: | The lights accept any conventional screw-in type light bulb though the wattage of the bulb should not exceed 150 watts. So the answer to your question is really another question: what are you trying to grow and how far above the seed trays are the lamps. You can use regular light bulbs like you'd put in any lamp, you can go with the far more efficient and longer lasting LED equivalents, you could use the screw-in style compact fluorescent bulbs. There are "daylight" bulbs that are supposed to approximate the visual qualities of normal daylight. I'd suggest going to your nearest Home Depot, Lowes or hardware store - bring one of the clamp lights with you. The folks there can show you what they have, talk about the purchase price versus the cost to operate and maybe even know something about their use for grow lights like your plan. You can also buy bulbs from Amazon but you'll be able to see the bulbs and know they fit your application by shopping locally. |

| Answer: | I would say no. I use it with infrared bulbs for the light therapy and I don't find these to be very good at all. The clamps do not work well like to dangle and hang. I am not able to direct them where I want because the clips are lousy, but even if they worked well I'm not sure this'll be a good set up for doghouse - in my opinion. I'm not sure it would be safe. The dog could still touch the light and get burnt. |
