User questions & answers
Question: | I kinda have a black thumb, but I am trying to learn. My houseplant needs pruning, are these the right type for this |
Answer: | Not unless you have very large plants with substantial stems. These bypass pruners are to heavy-duty for delicate plants; buy smaller, lighter weight "snippers" for leaves and thin stems/branches. Otherwise, I applaud you trying to overcome your black thumb. Remember: common sense goes a long way in caring for house plants. Good luck |
Question: | Where are these made |
Answer: | I took the rubber handles off to see if there was any information as to where they are made. I found nothing. They sell them at Home Depot if you can look at the packaging there. Sorry I couldn’t help you. |
Question: | will this cut thru bamboo easily (clumping kind not giant 4 inch round one |
Answer: | For me these pruners easily cut through branches up to about half an inch wide. I have never tried cutting bamboo with them however. |
Question: | how do you slide back the safety catch? I can't move it |
Answer: | It should slide forward and backward easily. Put a drop of WD40 around it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have pair of loppers but the blade needs to be sharpened, how does one sharpen |
Answer: | Can be done with a dremmel tool with a small grinding wheel. A small sharp flat file, a hand knife sharpening stone, or other similar tools |
Question: | What country is this made |
Answer: | Taiwan. We have our original one, it was made in Finland. Looks the same but time will tell if it is as good. Original one is more than 15 yes old. Hope this helps. |
Question: | How heavy are these loppers |
Answer: | Not really heavy at all |
Question: | Where can one get replacement blades assuming that blades are replaceable |
Answer: | I just got a brand new replacement set after going to the Fiskars website product page and clicking on Warranty Claim. Sent a picture with my claim of the broken blade about 2 weeks ago and forgot about it and was surprised to find some new loppers in my box. I think it would be cool if I could just have 2 or 3 blades on hand, but I guess you can't complain when they do no questions asked replacement. During the seventeenth century a number of ironworks were founded in Finland. The large tracts of forestland in the Pohja region along with its unharnessed water power and good water routes made it an ideal centre for the Finnish iron industry. The ironworks at Antskog were founded around 1630, and Billnäs followed in 1641. Fiskars was started in 1649, and today is one of the oldest businesses in the western world.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will these last a while? I have Fiskars original and after cutting a lot of suckers the blades just aren't as sharp after only 2 months |
Answer: | I have had these tiny Fiskars for at least 5 years and they are still plenty sharp. You might consider contacting Fiskars as they stand behind their products, having replaced some loppers I bought awhile back. |
Question: | Can I use these to cut candle wicks |
Answer: | Why not, they are really sharp. |
Question: | Is the non-stick coating worth the extra cost |
Answer: | I find the non-stick coating on the cutting blades very helpful as this means they do not need as much cleaning as other pruning snips / cutters that I have used. I think the coating helps to keep it sharp. Whether it is the coating or the metal they used to make the blades, this snip is very, very sharp and cuts cleanly. I find it very useful for more refined work such as snipping leaves, ornamental grasses, soft plant stems, etc. which secateurs have a tough job handling because they are too big for the job or do not cut as cleanly. The only problem I have is the blades keep locking shut together when I grip /hold the handles too close to the orange lock while using the snip. But it does not feel natural to grip / hold the handles near their ends further away from the orange lock because of the shape of the handles - could have been more ergonomically designed. |
Question: | where is it made? Somewhere in Europe or China |
Answer: | These are made in China. I wish Amazon had a policy about listing where things were made. Had I known, I would have bought something else. |
