The Spetsnaz is a Soviet special ops group that had its beginnings in WWII era Russia. During the Cold War, the need for a multi-purpose blade became apparent, so a survival machete was designed to chop, cut, pry, saw, hammer, and perform just about every other field duty. This modern update takes the original design and improves the functionality in a couple of ways. The original had a hollow, squarish plastic handle to store matches and the like, but made the knife incredibly tip heavy and hard to use. This version has a full profile tang and contoured hardwood scales for superior comfort and balance. Secondly, the original blade was made from super-hard steel so the knife could be used as a pry-bar but was next to impossible to sharpen. Modern carbon steel makes this updated blade easier to give a fresh edge. Answer:	I can't imagine he would be able to hear the machine from two rooms away; much less with a mat or carpet under it. I work out on my machine in the family living room and my family doesn't even know i'm working out most times until they come downstairs. So two rooms away should be more than enough social distancing so to speak in order to avoid disrupting your husband's sleep time.

Answer:	I found this product to be well worth the price. Of course, I'm only 5'2" and am working on low impact gradual weight lose. I set the tension as high as it will go and row until my heart rate is up then keep it there for 15 minutes. My blood pressure has dropped and I've got abs now underneath a layer of fat. I may have to have the skin removed due to my age. Skin stops shrinking around 35. I am gentle with it but my grandson is kind of rough when he visits and plays on it. I need a new bumper pad for the gliding seat. One came off and i found it on the carpet and stupidely threw it away without thinking about what it came off of. I'll have to figure out something else to keep it from beating the heck out of the the seat. I think as with everything. You get what you pay for.

Answer:	The machete itself does not state exactly where it's made. From my research about Gerber they state they still make many of their knives in Portland, Oregon since 1939. The small leaflet doesn't state where it is exatly made either. I hope and assume it is made in Portland. Hope this answers your question.

Answer:	I would have to say no. There Gator Bolo is listed as full tang. This one is not. So far I haven’t had any issues with mine. The Bolo is quite a bit more money than this one.

Answer:	I think so. 1000 isn't the most course grit I have and 3000 isn't the finest, but unless your blades are seriously nicked up you don't need any courser. And 3000 grit properly used will leave a sharper edge than most chisels have new.
