User questions & answers
Question: | On this blade and some of Shrade's other ones I have seen complaint and pictures of breakage. Has this issue been resolved |
Answer: | 1/4" but I've cut through some thick stuff with it |
Question: | Is the handle long enough for a two handed grip? Thanks for answering, in advance |
Answer: | The machete itself does not state exactly where it's made. From my research about Gerber they state they still make many of their knives in Portland, Oregon since 1939. The small leaflet doesn't state where it is exatly made either. I hope and assume it is made in Portland. Hope this answers your question. |
Question: | Weight of Machete |
Answer: | I would have to say no. There Gator Bolo is listed as full tang. This one is not. So far I haven’t had any issues with mine. The Bolo is quite a bit more money than this one. |
Question: | What is the blade length, how sharp did it come |
Answer: | How big is the hole. Lol.. I got it as a gift. Will ask my friend and get back to you. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does anyone know where this knife is made specifically when it is imported |
Answer: | Supposedly you can use a stick or dowel through the hole to act as a second grip. Using both hands you can use the blade as a draw knife. |

Answer: | Absolutely, it’s covered by ESEE’s lifetime warranty. |
Question: | is it similar steel to cold steel blades |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where do i find a replacement sheath? Ive looked all over and cant find one |
Answer: | http://clevelandkydex.com/kabar-becker-c-28_3_8/kabar-warthog-sheath-p-631.html this one |
Question: | Does it come with a sheath |
Answer: | Yes, it comes with a nylon and leather sheath. The sheath is worst part of the knife in my honest opinion. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Does the coating on the blade last or does it show wear the first time you cut into something hard...does it scratch easy |
Answer: | The coating is insanely tough, I've beat the hell out of this blade and everything from the handle to the coating have held up great. This thing is a tank! |
Question: | Is this knive made in the United States or has greed driven production overseas |
Answer: | Over the years I have seen 99% of the products that I buy from certain Far East countries to fall apart within a year of purchase. 99% of what I have bought from Europe, North America, South America, Japan and so on last for years and years. Nothing against anybody or country, just my experience. One more thing, as weird as it seems to some, supporting production in the country you are from, wherever that happens to be, is common sense. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How does this compare to the Ontario RTAK II |
Answer: | The only RTAK worth owning, is the original. The 1st gen RTAKs are more tough; less brittle. You certainly won't shatter it (unlike the RTAK II)! Given how difficult it would be to find a gen-one RTAK though, I'd just go with the BK9.. |
Question: | Bk7 or bk |
Answer: | I had the same "wonderful" problem, so I purchased both of them. At the end I decided to keep the BK9 and send the BK7 back. This is my analysis and strictly my opinion: The BK9 can do 80% of all the things the BK7 can do. The BK9 has a much much stronger blade point and thus is far superior for batoning. The BK9 is the knife that is in a special category and looks, feels and can do probably everything that the MAJORITY of your other knifes can NOT do. The BK9 is THE knife that I would keep, if I were given only ONE CHOICE of knifes to own. In my particular case, the BK7 would have been just "another one of those MANY knives" that are stored in my closet and just sit around, waiting to be used....but are not! The BK9 has to work hard, gets no rest and gets not pampered. It truly is one of those incredibly good knives. |
Question: | Is the blade full tang |
Answer: | Yes it is full tang .. 1095 HC it has a really rough Finnish on it that is very strong.. 1095 HC can rust though so if u rem oil it it'll b fine this is honestly my favorite knife I own and definitely the toughest knife out there it sharpens up very well and stays sharp the handle is ok but if you want u can upgrade that or put the tennis racket grips over the existing handle to give it more grip the sheath at first I thought it wasn't to great but I now really like it .. It is definitely the best knife for 80 $ out there for the cash you are not going to brake this knife |
Question: | Does anybody know what country the BK9 is made in |
Answer: | I called the Becker cite and was advised the BK9 "country of origin" is USA. |

Ka-Bar Becker BK9 Combat Bowie Fixed Blade Knife
Ethan Becker is a man after our own heart. An avid outdoors-man who enjoys martial arts and hunting, Becker founded Becker Knife and Tool Corporation in the early 1980's to design the industrial-strength tactical and survival knives he'd always wanted for himself. What we love about Becker, other than his innovative designs, is that he spends so much time in the outdoors testing new equipment and designs. KA-BAR is proud to be the manufacturer of Becker's five best-selling models - all introduced recently and brought up to date and approved by Becker himself.

User questions & answers
Question: | What sheath comes with it |
Answer: | The sheath is of a nylon material with plastic insert and is very well-made. Regardless it’s well-made nature the sheath is way too large, cumbersome and could be scaled back significantly to the size of the knife. |
Question: | what’s the difference between sp5 and sp |
Answer: | sp 10 has a sabre grind, sp 5 has a flat grind, as well as the sp 10 being a heavier blade. |
Question: | Is this blade 1/4" thick and is it a flat grind or a saber grind |
Answer: | It is 1/4 thick and is flat ground |
Question: | What kind of tang does it have |
Answer: | Because of the balance issue with this model OKC knife. I decided to remove the molded handle and replace it and the finger guard with heavier brass and animal bone pieces. Well let me tell you that the handle falling or pulling off of the blade is not ever going to be a problem! It took two hours of hard work to get the handle off of the blade. This is a true full tang knife and it’s not skeletonized the balance issues come from the lightweight handle material. The tang is slightly smaller than the handle dimensions and the lanyard hole lining tube is pushed though a hole in the tang. I honestly don’t know what you could do to break the handle off of this knife. I have 3 different models of the OKC Spec series knives. I am completely impressed with the quality of such a economical knife. The only thing better about a K bar is the steel pommel. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do i equip this to molle webbing |
Answer: | The BK3 sheath is made Molle Compatible. |
Question: | What is the thickness of the blade? Is this thickness maintained over the entire blade length |
Answer: | The blade is one solid piece of metal that is about a qt inch thick with a handle attached to it. It is that thick the entire length and width except for where it tapers down to become the actual blade. |
Question: | Do bk2 scales fit on the bk |
Answer: | Yes, the BK2 and BK3 have the same handles as well as the 4,5,7,9,10,22,32,&39 |
Question: | I just bought this but it doesn't fit in my pocket sharpener. How do you guys sharpen this tool |
Answer: | I love mine, but had the same problem...I had an old SPYDERCO shapner, a base with two "V" shaped rods coming out of it and it works perfecly. Razor sharp when I'm done...this comes in a pouch and doesn't take up enough room in my pack to worry about. This sharpens anything, even fish hooks. I believe you can still buy these. If not, get a flat whet stone. That's the best help I can give you. R / Mack |

User questions & answers
Question: | does it come with a sheath? cause I see a sheath bundle option for some reason |
Answer: | Yes. They need to pull that sheath bundle option down. It comes with a very nice Mexican-made sheath. Mexican sheaths are known for the highest hide quality, thickness, craftsmanship. You'll see. |
Question: | Is this a full tang knife? Meaning, does the blade goes all the way through the handle? Thanks |
Answer: | No, this is not a true full tang knife. It has a rat tail tang, meaning it extends the full length of the handle but not even close to the full width, significantly reducing the structural durability. Be warned, this is not a bushcraft knife. This is a combat knife. It was meant for combat, not chopping down trees and processing wood. If you put it through that, don't be surprised when (not if) it breaks. Excellent design for combat use though. I'd take it to Iraq, but not the woods. |

Answer: | No batteries needed. |
Question: | What is the tang on this bad boy? That's the one thing I want to know |
Answer: | Same question I asked of them. Their response was since the product is produced over seas, the handle is not available separately, BUT they would help with any warranty issues should it ever fail. |
Question: | Can it be thrown |
Answer: | Yes and yes. In fact when I first received the set the first thing I did was put them on the stone to perfect the edge. And they are holding up quite well. Company was responsive to some of the questions I had at first about replacements, mine was in regards to the handle. |
