Answer: | Yes, check the manufacturers site. |
Question: | Said it fits a mattock axe |
Answer: | The mattok axe was good, nice to own and ue |
Question: | Will this fit an axe eye or oval eye maul |
Answer: | It will fit a maul oval . I will not a large ax oval |
Question: | Is this a good self defense stick to carry when out walking |
Answer: | Yes, though it may be difficult to grip when swinging and uncomfortable as a Walking Stick. I must admit, this is an unusual application. Because it is straight handle, gripping could be an issue. May I suggest a slightly curved Hickory or Oak handle such as used for an Axe as the hand end has a flare that allows a solid handhold when swinging. I have purchased both types. They are solid Hickory, the curved handle for 4 lb Axe head used for felling small trees up to 20" diameter and straight handle for an 18 lb Sledge Hammer used to break everything from Fiberglass Washing Machine Tubs to concrete. Both Hickory handles have held up very well and absorb much of the shock. |

User questions & answers
Question: | My 6# maul has an oval handle opening that measures 2 1/8" x 3/4". Will this handle fit it? If not, is there one that does |
Answer: | yes it should but it will be tight |
Question: | At the end of the handle is one side thicker than the other? Tear drop shaped |
Answer: | I just bought this one a few weeks ago and, yes, it does have the tear drop shape. I used it to replace the handle of my wood-splitting maul. |
Question: | what is the width and length at the top of maul head |
Answer: | Well that question raises a couple of my own but I'll answer them all to save time. If you meen the handle. The 36" is the over all length to top of head. If ur asking about the maul head I don't have a clue it's just the poundage that ya go by usually but I personally don't like a blunt spliting edge like most make. I make my own. And if you meen the handle as it enters the head it goes by the shape description and in axe eye which is most common or oval eye. An axe eye is wide and rounded in the back and tampers to a rounded point in the front. The oval eye is uniform front and back goes from a rounded point in back wide in the middle to rounded point in the front. Most handles need to be fitted to the head by a rasp or grinder. U take the handle and hold it to the bottom of the head to see where it's to thick or long and remove small amounts of wood at a time till it just fits in the opening but careful u do NOT want it to be loose. Then tap head firmly onto the handle to start then turn it up side down to where the head is by your feet but don't rest it on floor. Then start hitting the bottom of the handle w a good hammer to insert it into the head till it reaches the swell on the handle. If you shaped the handle right the head will shave a slight amount of wood as it slides on tightly. Alow the wood to exit other side till it meets swollen wood on the entry side as to add strength and cut off excess on the exit side about 1/4"- 3/8" sticking out to give it a little extra holding power. Use wedges to fill the gap in the end and tighten it. Wooden wedge will work but adding smaller metal ones will help tighten even more afterwards. Hope this helped |
Question: | I have a maul head that has a round eye approx 1 1/8". Do you have a replacement handle for that |
Answer: | I think the true temper handle should work. I’ve been trying to find a handle for my double axe and have 5 handles in bags unused because none will work. Good luck |

Answer: | Regular is for 6-16# head , heavy is for a 20-24# head. A little beefier. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where is it made |
Answer: | No Idea. It is NO GOOD. Bought a TRUPER made in Mexico from Lowes and it is heavy duty and fantastic. ALL others are junk from our experience. Be very careful of false advertising. They say one thing and ship another. |
Question: | What does the handle look like? Does it have a grip |
Answer: | The handle is wooden without any grips on it. |
Question: | Will it work with one inch gravel |
Answer: | It will dig down more than an inch. I would not use it on gravel as stone will dull the blade faster than plain dirt. If plants in the gravel beds are not an issue and you just want to do away with weeds then I would use weed killer. And follow with Preen every two months. |
Question: | How wide is the actual blade? I have smallish one just 5 to 6" working edge. Would really love one a foot wide! is there such a one |
Answer: | No. Same size as you have now. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What size eye does this fit |
Answer: | Sorry, I don't know. All I know is that I have what I thought was a standard eye for a 2 1/4 lb boy's axe head. The True Temper shank was way too small so I ended up returning it and buying from somewhere else (located in Missouri) where they specified that it was for a boy's axe head with an eye of 3/4" x 2 3/16" and it fit perfectly.Other people have given this handle good reviews so there must not be a standard size for boy's axes. Amazon could eliminate a lot of problems by putting the dimensions in the listing. Also, I didn't like this because it was varnished - I prefer mine just sanded smooth and oiled. Hope this helps. |
Question: | where is it made |
Answer: | To the best of my recollection, it was made in the USA but it was a long time ago so I can't say for sure. |
Question: | Will it fit council tool 28 in. boys axe |
Answer: | Contact the seller with the measurements. If he wants to make a sale he will respond. |
Question: | Would this handle work for a cold steel trail boss? the eye of the axe head is approximately |
Answer: | I am also looking for a replacement handle for an axe with that size opening. Any luck? Please help lol |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this tool made in the United States of America |
Answer: | This is what I found: American Manufacturing And you'd be right. Although we've become a global company since our humble beginnings back in 1774, we are committed to manufacturing our tools in the USA. In addition, all of our distribution and customer service is handled by employees here in the country where this company was born. |
Question: | where is this item made |
Answer: | USDA for 200-years ... can tell by head forging. Great tool, I have 3! |
Question: | Can this be "broken down" for traveling? Does the pick-scoop detach if slid down the handle |
Answer: | The pick-scoop is pressed on to the handle. It is not screwed on -- so it might detach if you hit the end of the handle. I haven't tried it so I don't know for sure. |
Question: | Is there anything that prevents the pick-scoop from loosening away from the handle and sliding down |
Answer: | No, it is shipped unassailable and you slide the head on from the back of the handle. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I but a single axe head on this piece as opposed to a double axe head |
Answer: | No the shape of the handle that goes into the head is different. A double bit handle is a symmetric shape versus a single bit which is a teardrop shape |
Question: | What are the dimensions of the end that goes in the axe blade |
Answer: | About the 36 " long axe handle for a double-bitted axe, the long dimension of the end that goes in the eye of the axe-head is 2 and 5/8ths inches. The short dimension doesn't matter because when putting a new handle on an axe, the wooden wedge you use will make the handle end fit any axe-head. |
Question: | Does this handle have a lacquer finish or is it unfinished |
Answer: | It's an unfinished handle |
