User questions & answers

Question: Is this actually an official product from the Ames company, with a 15 product warranty, or is this a knock off
Answer: It is an actual AMES product
Question: how tall is the blade
Answer: 4.5 inches
Question: Hey ya'll, i'm 67 years old, female, 5'5", 115 lbs. will this work for me? i have red alabama clay, but know to do this after a good rain
Answer: I'm 73, 5'2", 122 lbs., and it works for me in Alabama coastal sand. A good rain still helps, but hand edging is work no matter what! It's not so much the consistency of the soil as the toughness of the grass that is the issue here.
Question: What is the best way to use this along my side walk and drive way ect and make it look clean cut and nice
Answer: TIP: this is a cutter, not a shovel & should not be used for shoveling or lifting out grass/sod like you would with a shovel. For best results, place the blade next to the sidewalk to be trimmed, with shaft straight up vertically against the edge of the sidewalk, then stomp straight down on the edger shearing off any overhanging grass or sod. Repeat this cutting process along the sidewalk until finished. Then with a regular shovel easily scoop up the trimmed grass/sod & dispose.

User questions & answers

Question: Do you have to sharpen this hoe
Answer: This tool is very well made and is not required to sharpen at all, it looks like i'm their sales rep :), though, just because this tool is really made well.
Question: How wide is the blade at the "top
Answer: 1 inch to 1 1/2
Question: I need to dead weeds growing between bricks on the ground on my patio. Do you think this will work? Not a gardener. Also, need a long handle
Answer: Maybe it's not too late to answer your question. A triangular headed hoe is not the proper tool for weeding between bricks. I suggest you try a vinegar formula spray. Go online and research how to make your own natural vinegar weed killer and try that instead. Otherwise, I suggest a tool called a Cape Cod weeder. It is a hand tool and works well for removing weeds from tight spaces. I use my Cape Cod weeder when I'm not using a vinegar spray.
