I would caution that because the frame is metal, that it could slip on smooth floors, though I have not had that happen to me and I have used it a number of times in the house over the past couple of years. In those cases, you could try a towel or a bath mat under the metal footings to reduce the risk of slipping on a smooth floor. The pad is about an inch thick and I found it plenty thick for me to rest my knees on.
