Answer: I have not used the 1/4" but here is my opinion for what it's worth and I struggle with this every time I've disbudded my kids. The sooner you do it, it's better then later. I always strugggle thinking to myself I want them to be good and strong before I disbudd, but the longer you wait the more skull bone is growing under that bud. Some kids come out bigger, some smaller, I almost bought the 3/8" last year, I have a 1/2" and it's pretty big for ND. Good news is it's really more traumatic to the person doing the disbudding then to the kids I believe. They really don't like being restrained more then anything and are no worse fir the wear after the procedure. I do spray the doctor sholes blue antibiotic spray on the exposed area imediately after I'm sure there are no small bleeders. Best of luck, but I don't think I would go with the 1/4", I'd use the 3/8" on ND, but this is fro a guy who uses a 1/2" and usually waits until the last possible day before disbudding.

Answer: Once it gets hot you can keep burning horns, it stays hot. I do each horn in 10-15 second intervals. Probably 60 plus seconds total. This is a great horn burner. My brother had this one that I'd borrow and I decided to buy one too.
