Answer:	The grip is tapered with an average diameter of approximately one centimeter.

Answer:	Check your ink. Parker, Noodlers, Montblanc or any other quality ink should do. Normally with the Chinese pens they seem to have the least problem having a wet nib. You try to dip a dry tip in water and that will dissolve the dry ink in the reservoir. Also try to store the nib tip down. Some pens when you do this and you have a free flowing ink will leave drops of ink in the cap but if you always dry when you start to write you could try that. How often do you use the pen? If you use it daily you shouldn't have a problem.

Answer:	it comes with a little twisty piston cartridge thing that can be used to suck up some bottled ink and use it in this pen, but it does not come with any ink. you are going to either want to get a pack of standard international cartridges (to use in the place of the converter) or a bottle of ink (to use with the converter) google "fountain pen cartridge converter guide" to find help on how to use bottled ink

Question:	How do i make these pens not scratchy? using tomoe river paper and inks like diamine, herbin, pilot, mont blanc. it doesn't write easily, is scratchy
Answer:	The tip of a fountain pen nib is usually made from a ball of very hard metal, to resist the wear of writing on paper. if you look closely (with a magnifier), you will see that this ball is split with an extremely fine saw cut forming the capillary that draws the ink to the tip. For smooth writing, both sides (tines) of the nib must be aligned perfectly. If one is lower than the other, it will present a scratchy edge, which will drag in one direction more than the other. This can be corrected by gently bending the tines back in alignment. Watch the Youtube "Adjusting Your Fountain Pen" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuq9tuKRbCY) video, for some instructions. It takes patience and practice to learn how to do this.Another problem that causes scratchiness is roughness of the nib ball, usually found on cheap nibs which were not fully polished by the manufacturer. You can polish it out yourself, but the hard metal tip makes polishing slow. For an abrasive, I use 4 mil Herculene drafting film. The matt surface is a very fine and gentle abrasive, which will eventually leave the nib tip glassy smooth, after much looping and swooping over the surface (with ink). In really bad cases, I slip the edge of the drafting film between the tines, and slide the nib back and forth several times, then turn the film over and do it again, to get the other tine. Of course, you can replace the nib with a better one, but the new nib probably costs much more than these pens, and you will have to search long to find the right size. There are YouTube videos about that, too.After tuning and polishing, I have several Jinhao 599 pens that write smoothly, and a few that I can't make as smooth as I would like.I really enjoy tinkering with pens, but not everyone does. If this sounds like too much trouble, maybe you should look at some better pens.The smoothest writing pens I have are the Waterman Philias Medium point, the Lamy Safari Medium point, and an old Cross (Townsend?) with a gold nib, Medium Point. These pens came from the factory well polished and adjusted. All of these pens are more expensive than the Jinhao 599.P.S. If you want a very nice writing, inexpensive fountain pen, try the Pilot Varsity disposable pen. I have used a number of these, and all worked right, right out of the box.

Answer:	Depends. If you drop it from the Eiffel tower unto the pavement below, of course it will. If you drop it from your desk onto a hard wooden floor, maybe it will. Since I have carpeting in my house, I could not give you the answer to this question. Dropping it nib down from your hand from any vantage point is never good for the pen. If the pen is capped, take your chances, and be careful.

Fountain pen Care Guide

1. Cleaning your fountain pen between each ink refill, is recommended.

2. The nib should remain writing point up when not in use. The ink will drain down into the converter or cartridge. This avoids drying or clogging of the nib.

3. Placing your pen into a pen case or pouch will protect the pen from being scratched, keeping the finish looking new.

How to Refill Your Fountain Pen with ink bottle

1. Insert the converter and make sure it is installed tightly. Then Twist the plunger counterclockwise to completely remove the air from the converter.

2. Submerge nib in ink slightly above the holding section. Now draw ink up by twisting the plunger.

3. Remove nib and slightly twist the plunger to force out three drops of ink. Use a soft cloth to wipe away excess ink. Screw back the body of the pen, and Enjoy the writing.

How to Refill Your Fountain Pen with cartridge

1. Insert the cartridge and make sure it is installed tightly. (You may need more effort into it)

2. Stand upright for a few minutes (Some color or brand, may need more time). The ink will drain down into the nib. Then enjoy the writing.

3. Some color ink can not easily flow down into the nib. For fast using, you can quickly swift the pen, let the ink flow down. (be careful with the ink)

How to effectively clean your fountain pen

1. Remove the cartridge or converter. Flush the nib and gripping section with cool water.

2. A converter not being used for ink can be used to flush the nib by drawing cool water up through the nib and forcing the water out. Lightly blow air through the nib assembly to clear all liquid out of the nib.

3. Dry the nib and gripping section with a lint-less soft cloth. Repeat this several times, then dry the nib and gripping section with a soft cloth or paper towel.
