Answer:	The gold lead holders have a rotating component that allows them to be labeled as holding refills of whichever variety you prefer. I like to have a 4H handy. The mechanical pencils can be refilled with any type of lead so long as it fits the appropriate size.

Answer:	Three do and three are lead holders. Good pencils - good value.

Answer:	The brass ones are loaded with new lead from they writing point. Push the button at the top and load it from the writing point. I have not had to replace the silver and black ones yet.

Answer:	Less dark than the modern Black Warrior, though the pencil is finished much better. It does not compare to a Blackwing (any of the three) in darkness or smoothness. But these are not $20 a dozen.

Answer:	The ones I had were white and were a siste softer dark lead. They dulled too fast for me to write with. I don't remember their designation, they we're given to me. Palomino Pearl is all I remember. I linked them enough to find the harder graphite ones this time. These 602 whatever's are great for writing. The grey painted ones.

Answer:	The Palomino Blackwing 602 can be considered a revival of the EF BW 602. The product is now produced with California incense-cedar and smooth Japanese graphite. "better or worse" is a subjective question as the original pencil went through several iterations over the years it was in production.

Answer:	The Blackwing 602 is a 2B lead, which is softer and darker than a #2. Would it work on a standardized test? probably. But they are not a #2 pencil so use at your own risk. For a number two you can't go wrong with a Dixon Ticonderoga. FYI when shopping a #2 lead in USA is equal to a HB lead internationally. You could call it the pencil lead metric system...

Answer:	You need to read the descriptions or go to the website. I like the Pearl and the 602's but just for short writing periods. For whatever reason my hand gets tired with both the pearl and 602 after much writing. I feel like I have to press harder. Both are soft leads. I prefer the Natural which is harder than a 602 and wears down less, and is darker. I don't have to press harder to get the look I like. I have about 10 different pencils I bought off eBay to see what I liked. Each one is different but similar. I love allll their pencils, but I'm sticking with the Natural as my favorite. Answer:	I was concerned with stability also, but can assure you that these are very stable. I purchased two and both are on carpet with no stability problems. Obviously, you do not want to move them when they are full as they could be tipsy then. However, I feel very good about telling you they are stable when they are assembled properly. Enjoy!

Question:	is the color name printed on pencil
Answer:	I just recently purchased my second set of these, and the new set has numbers printed on the pencils.
Question:	Are they oil based or wax based? And are they as good quality as prismacolors
Answer:	According to the seller, they are wax based. I found out they are very pigmentated and the colors are as “deep” as the Prismacolor ones, but they are not as soft as the Prismas (which to me is a great thing, I don’t like too soft pencils). I righly recommended the Castle set, the pencils are awesome!
Question:	do these pencils have toxic lead in them
Answer:	I don't really have an answer, this is something better answered by the manufacturer. However being the suspicious type person that I am, I don't put the points in my mouth. I assume you are inquiring for a younger user, or maybe small kids at home. There are many different minerals that are crushed to make pigment as well as some plant products. As a general rule of thumb, I don't recommend ingesting any art supply product. I don't have a good answer regarding the toxicity issue.

Answer:	These are not the same as the Monos. The Mono is an artist grade pencil -- it's smoother, quieter at the same grade. The 8900 says 'For General Writing' on them. Keep in mind that it's not a Japanese pencil. It's made in Vietnam. A good pencil for 6 bucks, though.
