Question:	Do people find that the top stays on ok or not? That's the top that fits over the barrel
Answer:	I have had a problem with the top staying on if I am quickly stashing the pencil in an organizer or briefcase slot. The best technological fix is to separate the top from the bottom and rub the white center stem of the bottom part of the pen with BEESWAX! I do this when I buy the pens and every couple of years and never have a problem after that. My daughter (student) and I (professional) both love these pencils.
Question:	The headline says these are the Twist Erase III, but the photo shows the plain Twist Erase. Which is correct
Answer:	It is the Twist Erase III (and not regular Twist Erase). The box and pencils themselves don't show "III" on them, but they are the Twist Erase III with the more sturdy construction than the regular Twist Erase pencils. If you go to the Pentel website, you'll see these same looking pencils for Twist Erase III.
Question:	What is the difference between the .5, the .7 and the
Answer:	Those are the thicknesses of the lead in the pencil: fine, medium, large
Question:	If I have to click the advance the lead, then what does the automatic part do
Answer:	Good question. I use these pencils almost every day for the last 10+ years. I don't think I've purchased more than 3 or 4 of them due to their durability. I've never noticed the word "automatic" in the title until you asked this question. I suppose, in Clintonian terms, it depends on the definition of "automatic". I suspect it refers to the process of the lead "automatically" loading into the pencil barrel when you push on the top of the pencil to load a new piece of lead. Short of contacting Pentel, I wish you good luck on finding the answer.

Answer:	These are high quality drafting type pencils, but I have used these for many years for general writing and have never had any comfort issues. If you have used instruments with rubber grips and prefer them, I would say go that way. I hope this response helps you.
Question:	Does this pencil have an automatic feed where when the lead breaks the support piece moves and loads a new lead
Answer:	No, it does have the “support piece”- a sheath that covers the lead as it’s advanced through the opening. However, should it break, you have to physically click the pencil top to advance the lead. That sheath is only there to lessen the chances of breaking the lead with too much pressure, it doesn’t have the fancy mechanism that other pencils do, but it’s still an excellent pencil nonetheless.

Answer:	Nothing automatic about this pencil. You click on the knock (top) of the pencil and the lead advances. As I said, nothing automatic about it.

Question:	How to replace the lead
Answer:	What I do is remove the eraser and shake out the pieces of lead. Then I drop one piece back into the hole and shake it so it falls into the tube inside for the lead. Then click till the new piece starts coming out the end. Replace the other pieces of lead and eraser. There may be an easier way but I haven't found it.
Question:	Does the lead retract for storage in a purse
Answer:	Yes. I carry one in my purse regularly. To retract the lead, I hold the clicker in and push the lead back with my finger. I love these pencils. The placement of the clicker on the side also makes it really easy to advance the lead as needed while writing with it.

Question:	Is this mechanical pencil comfortable when used to write for long periods of time? Thanks in advance for any answers
Answer:	No, actually it is not comfortable at all. I do a lot of writing drawing and diagramming and my writing fingers started getting a burn. Also I hold pencils closer to the bottom and its almost impossible to do with this pencil. The heaviness of it is great, but its cumbersome for me to use without a rubber cover or something
Question:	Some people say that since the tip is retractable it can become wobbly while writing. Anybody else have this problem
Answer:	Wobbly may be a bit of an exaggeration but there can be a bit of movement in the tip. I have a two Graph Gear 1000's, one tip has no movement and the other has maybe a 1/2 mm movement. The movement is imperceptible while writing though, at least for me.
Question:	I don't see the eraser.,.. How easy is it to expose it? Can you leave the eraser exposed? I typically always do that
Answer:	The eraser is located under the silver cap at the top. Being a drafting pencil, the eraser is very small (~4mm) and is designed for fixing small mistakes without erasing anything else. Question:	where does one find the instructions for this mechanical pencil
Answer:	You must be careful to not mistake the little 'pusher' piece, which is white and tiny, in the lead sleeve for lead. The pusher piece will stick out a short distance when there is NO lead in the pencil, but DO NOT get rid of this, or the pencil won't work. I watched a YOUTUBE video on how to load the lead and I figured it out, I just looked for Pentel Graphgear 1000 load lead, or something similar. One would think, though this isn't complicated, the mfr would put some sort of information or instructions with it, sometimes one can be just too clever for one's own good. Or, perhaps Pentel thinks we are all intuitive and of genius level - that is dangerous thinking. On the positive side, the pencil feels pretty good in the hand; I bought the set of 4 , one set for my wife and one set for myself.

Answer:	That is correct. It is also #2 lead; 0.5 mm fine. It also states on the package that it is guaranteed to scan.

Answer:	If you are referring to the area in which lead .9mm lead is stored as the barrel, then this pentel mechanical pencil has a plastic barrel.

Answer:	As of 2020-12-19 it's still made in Japan. It's printed on the back about 4 mm above the UPC that's located in the lower, right corner.
Question:	How can you tell the model number of the eraser that fits this P
Answer:	I have green, red and white erasers in tubes and they all fit my P205, P207 and P209 pencils. The tubes don't have a part number on them however the information on the tube only states "Pentel Eraser Refills". If you order, i believe they will work.

Answer:	The eraser and the lead are both retractable. The eraser is just even with the top of the pencil when new and un-used.

Answer:	This is just a standard click the end of the pencil type

Answer:	I haven't had that problem but a few times over the course of 5 years. When I do I shake it and the lead finally falls into the internal lead cylinder (where you click it out). These are the best (& my favorite) pencils, I'm sorry your having problems.
Question:	how does one refill the lead
Answer:	Remove the upper part and put in .5 lead refills, then put the top back on and click until the lead appears on the lower part of the pencil.

Answer:	Yesssss, for either .5mm (205) and .7mm (207). The .7mm can be found in 99 / Dollartree stores, but the .5mm you usually have to buy online or get at Target / Walmart stores. I prefer the 5mm, it's a bit more finer as the 7mm is much thicker in lead. The metal tips on these pens are great at opening packages (done lightly), even cutting paper / coupons. Enjoy!!!

Answer:	No as others have stated just the small white vinyl eraser in the end cap. I have used these pencils for the last 20 years. I recommend the pentel clic eraser to accompany these wonderful pencils

Answer:	You may be dealing with the last portion a a stick of lead. Pull out the lead and start a new stick. that may fix it.

Question:	Hi, the tip to my .7 pentel mech pencil broke. Do you sell them separately
Answer:	To my knowledge, no. I've never experienced that problem, but I strongly suspect that since the pencil really does not cost that much new, you'd be better off to buy a pack of two new ones or even double that order. Since I discovered this type and brand of mechanical pencil several years ago, I have bought nothing else in pencils. I keep them around the house wherever I sit or work. One in each location keeps me from having to move mine and then recall where I put it. Best wishes and...get several!

Answer:	I have seen black, orange, purple & clear so far. The best way to find out is to write to the manufacturer (Pentel) and ask there customer service.
Question:	Do u know how the 0.7 compares to 0.9 size lead. I'm thinking the 0.9 will break less, write darker and thicker
Answer:	Yes 0.9 is a stronger lead. It is darker also. Although the last 0.9 lead I purchased for some reason is not as dark as before. But love this size for the reason you mentioned. I have a heavy hand, I guess, because I will always keep breaking 0.7 lead.
Question:	Has anyone used this on a scantron and/or standardized test? Do they work the same as a #2 pencil
Answer:	Yes, I've used it on tests plenty of times. The pencil itself has no effect on the scantron, it's about what lead you put in the pencil. Pretty much any HB lead will scan on tests! The lead that comes inside this pencil will scan, as will all Pentel HB leads.
