Answer:	Theoretically you could, but you would probably need cut out the entire page, to make sure the door pattern is complete. I would recommend looking at the other available notebooks, or printing out a page from the PDFs they provide.

Answer:	The Livescribe Aegir smartpen uses a standard D1 style ink cartridge from Zebra. Ink cartridges that meet the same size specifications (67 mm x 2.35 mm diameter) and contain carbon-free ink may also be used, though Livescribe does not guarantee the performance of other brand replacement ink cartridges.
Question:	Is this compatible with the Amazon Fire
Answer:	The pen needs the Livescribe app. There is an Android version of the app available on the Google Play Store. If it isn't in the Amazon app store, then you will have to "sideload" it on your device, which is a little more difficult. The pen will not provide all the features without the app, so this is important.

The Standard edition has been discontinued (and we are, ourselves, out of stock with no intentions to acquire more... and Livescribe themselves no longer make them). The interaction of the Black with the mobile Livescribe+ app is identical, no change there. Livescribe Dot Paper

Livescribe dot paper uses regular paper printed with a unique pattern of tiny microdots. This tiny pattern works a lot like a GPS system for your Smartpen. It allows a Smartpen to capture everything it writes or draws on dot paper.

Livescribe Smartpens only work with Livescribe Dot Paper, so there's a variety of dot paper sizes and types available: College-ruled Notebooks, Lined Journals, Blank Journals, Mini Journals, A5-sized Notebooks, Grid Notebooks, Flip Notepads, and Sticky Notes. You can even print your own dot paper for free from within Livescribe Desktop on many printers.

Question:	can you convert voice to text
Answer:	No. Voice to (accurate) text still requires manual transcription. Google "transcribe web app" for link to excellent app for doing transcription. Pen is good for hard of hearing because it allows you to make notes and go back and listen to exact recording. Fidelity is surprisingly good
Question:	Is this pen Android compatible
Answer:	Hi and thank you for your question. The Echo smartpen is not compatible with Android devices. It is only compatible with Windows and Mac computers with our Echo Desktop application.
Question:	Does this pen work with OneNote 2013? Can you tap any part of the notes that you wrote and recorded, and it will play back the specific recorded part
Answer:	I work on a Mac, so I'm not sure what OneNote 2013 is. Yes, you can tap anywhere on the notes and it will play back exactly that part. I love this pen--it's my second one. (The display got very dim on the first one after five years.) Between the pen and screen shots, I never miss a thing on on-line classes and webinars. Once the notes are downloaded to your computer, you just click on them your mouse and the recorder will play on your computer.

Question:	Droid compatible
Answer:	So far, Livescribe 3 smartpen only works with iOS 7 devices. The Livescribe+ app is for iOS only. LS3 uses a newer low power Bluetooth technology called Smart Bluetooth. Question:	As you take notes with the Livescribe pen, does it automatically appear as text (i.e. not in handwriting form) on an appropriate device
Answer:	This pen is mainly about recording handwriting/drawing, i.e., digital ink. The iOS app that works with it does have a feature for translating into text in modest chunks (they call them snippets). Like voice recognition on smartphones, the handwriting recognition is at first kind of amazing -- just the fact that it works at all -- but if you try to translate large amounts of text, most people find that the amount of correction required because of mistranslation makes it easier to just type the notes yourself. (It basically depends on how neat and consistent your handwriting is.) You can set it up so you can watch it translate on your iPad as you write, but I don't find it particularly useful to do it that way. So yeah, it can translate handwriting into text, and it is about as good as it gets for that technology, but it's less useful than you might hope.
Question:	Do you have to use their notebooks or does any paper type work
Answer:	You must use their notebooks. They have a special paper print that the pen recognizes to know which notebook and which page you are on. Otherwise it's still a pen but won't record on anything but Livescribe notebooks.
Question:	Is the quality of the pen any better? I've been frustrated with the poor quality of the ink...wish they could make a "bolder" pen that had darker ink
Answer:	Larry, this is my first Livescribe product, but from what I have read many people seem to feel that the standard Livescribe ink for the LS3 is better than ink of the past. But I have good news, you don't need to use Livescribe ink refills. The LS3 is compatible with and D1 size ink refill. This means you can use ball point or gel ink in many different point sizes. Just search for "D1 ink refill"I have ordered several different brands of ink from JetPens.com.
