Answer:	Yes, and no. When the page clips are in place they must be lowered (or swung to the side) to turn a page. But I primarily use the clips to hold pages in place for very thick books or when I am leaving a book on the stand for awhile. While I am reading, I use the stand to keep the book in the best position for viewing; the pages can then be turned as easily as if I were holding the book without the stand.

Answer:	To answer your question I removed three sheets of paper from my printer and placed a single sheet on the book stand fully expecting it to droop over. to my surprise the arms held it upright just as it does with a book.
