Answer:	Give it some time and it will correct itself. it did for me. you can place a piece of card stock or cardboard under until it adjusts properly. make sure the paper is tightened down. This can also happen if you only cut a few pages.

Answer:	At this time I I don't have experience with using any other materials with this cutter...I can tell you this is a heavy duty cutter..this is not for 5-10 sheets of paper...I have cut a full phone book..with one cut..yes!..as with any cutting tool changing from Paper to plastic may dull any blade..but it will definitely cut ..hope that helps..

Answer:	Yes, you can see where the blade contacts the paper. You have to push the handle down a bit to see where the blade will land on the paper. Once you get the hang of it it is possible to cut quite precisely. If you have crop marks on the paper being cut you can align to them and cut accurately. It is not perfect, but it is very good. The best way to align is to put in the paper, pull the handle down a bit to see where the blade will land, position the paper accordingly then tighten down the paper clamp so the paper can't move, check once more where the blade will land, then make the cut.

Answer:	Yes, easily! A word of caution, just beware, DO NOT cut the staple with the blade. I ignorantly did this myself and left a gouge in my blade which then scars every cut thereafter until it is sharpened out or replaced.

Answer:	My cutter arrived on May 8 and I am buying a replacement blade now, on May 24. This is after moderately heavy use on and off for 16 days. Not exactly what I had in mind when I saw the words “a while” in the other answer.

Answer:	You didn't say how many pages. I have cut 125 pages of 20Lb paper with relative ease. i haven't cut any glossy paper and that may tend to slip. A note when tightening down the clamp mechanism if you want to protect your top sheet I would put a couple of sheets of paper under the bar before tightening. Make sure it is very tight. If you need accuracy run test cuts on a single sheet to set the guide bar correctly and match it to your desired cut. Good Luck

Answer:	Cutting one or two sheets with a paper cutter like this is like swatting flies with a shotgun. Mine tends to just crease the paper if I don't have a big stack, but that may be because I've cut so many big stacks with it. Answer:	Yes. It can be tricky to keep the stack vertical and keep it from shifting, but I've done it probably hundreds of times. On a good day I can chop a stack like that with an accuracy of plus or minus 1/8". That's good enough for my purposes.Whether you can bring the blade down on a thick stack like that depends on the paper. Chopping the 11" side of a stack of 8.5x11 sheets could be difficult. Different kinds of paper make a big difference in the difficulty of lowering the blade, but I can't put my finger on why. I think it may be moisture content, or how well it's pressed in manufacture.
Question:	whats the cutting width
Answer:	Paper weights can be elusive for determining thickness. This cutter has not failed to cut most anything I have thrown at it. I typically cut 18pt thick card stock (0.018 inch) which is laminated on one side. For me it comfortably cuts 30 sheets at a time which is a little over 1/2" total thickness. A holding gate is cranked down on top of the material to be cut. The actual cutting is done with a razor sharp blade that is lever operated and what the operator is capable and comfortable with will determine how much can be cut at a time. The machine itself is very sturdy mostly steel construction.Being a guy, I am not shy about abusing a piece of equipment from time to time. The toughest thing I have cut with this machine is a 12" strip of 1/16' thick virgin Teflon sheeting that I typically cut with a band saw but in this case needed a very clean cut line. (Not recommending this, but it did give me a very nice cut)

Question:	This shows a 15 inch cutting blade is often ordered together, but this machine is only 12 inches. Does the 15 inch blade actually fit this
Answer:	On the HFS Guillotines, the cutter stick is held in place by two small bolts, not thumb screws, on the underside of the Guillotine. You can see these bolts in this video that HFS published on another problem, I thought they had a video published on how to replace the cutter stick, but it is not there on YouTube and HFS' site is currently down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxyhKKO1uEU&list=PLWwFwQGPnJOiTn0gomf9Z_33pRSHuE_MX At 30 Seconds in, while the cutter's underside is to the camera, the gent takes out the thumbscrews which hold the guard in place, you can see two hex head bolts sticking up from where the cutter stick is located. You actually can see the cutter stick in the two wholes facing the camera as well. For normal operation of my Guillotine, I usually leave these two bolts lose or completely removed as I end up having to change sides on the cutter stick quite frequently and it's just to much work flipping it up on it's side, removing the screws, putting it back down, CAREFULLY, rotating the stick, and then lifting it back up in order to secure the stick back. It is also worth noting that the replacement stick was 1-2mm longer than the original resulting in an extremely snug fit, which I prefer with the retention bolts removed.

Answer:	When in doubt, I do a trial and error. Try one sheet. Probably won't work. Try 10 sheets, if it cuts, try 15. If it doesn't work, remove some until it does. This will give you the best advice.

Answer:	i have seen replacement blades (and the rubber pad under the blade) available on amazon and ebay any knife sharpening business would be able to sharpen the blade -- i have used my cutter a ton and still is as sharp as can be - you may be able to find a sharpening business online or in the local phone book - they are everywhere you just dont notice them unless you need them!hope this helps my holding bar had become way out of adjustment my husband fixed it in about 10 mins today and said it was very easy once he figured it outlove this machine makes for very quick work!
