Question:	How far up does the handle lift
Answer:	As far up as needed for your paper you want to cut is flush on the top side, so technica, it lifts up almost straight up.
Question:	How do you sharpen the blade
Answer:	It's a self sharpening blade. Each time you use the blade, keep it against the metal edge of the bed. That hones the blade. The trickiest part is keeping the nearest end of the blade against the metal strip. I use 15 sheets of computer paper as a reference and the blade will cut through most things. It is made for paper and the sharpness of mine is great after 4 years of papercutting.
Question:	How well does this cut card stock
Answer:	This is a beautiful paper cutter. I use it in my classroom on paper, card stock, and laminated items. I have owned it for 3 years and still cuts smooth. As with any paper cutter, you are limited on the number of pieces it will handle at once. I prefer using over the one in the teachers work room that has gotten dull.
Question:	I just got this and was unhappy to find that the solid lines were metric indicators. Is this a problem for anyone out there used to inches
Answer:	I thought that it was a problem until I realized that the dotted lines are in inches. And they aren't in the usual 1/4 inch intervals... they are actually 1/8" measurements and that is better than any other cutter that I have had. I have vision problems and I can read the dots easily. Give the dots a chance and I think you'll like it.

Question:	The blade is dull on mine. Does anyone know where to get a replacement blade? I'd hate for this whole thing to go in the landfill
Answer:	Carissa, I suggest you look on line for replacement blades and if that fails, contact the manufacturer. Office supply stores or places like Hobby Lobby might carry replacement blades if they stock the cutter. It may be, too, that you can get the original blade sharpened. Good luck!
Question:	is the ruler calibrated for millimeters as well as inches
Answer:	The ruler going horizontal has millimeters as well as inches. However, the grid lines on the surface of the paper cutter is in inches (1/4, 1/2 and 3/4). So, if you're planning on using millimeters for your measurements, in my opinion, it'll be a bit tricky to do so and you'll risk making inaccurate cuts. Hope that helps.
Question:	Can this trimmer cut single wall cardboard sheets "square
Answer:	No
Question:	Does this hold the paper down in a secure position? If not, how secure is it by manually holding it down? (1 paper at a time
Answer:	I purchased this primarily for cutting cardstock to make cards. I need a perfect 1/2 of 8 1/2 x 11 for an A2 card. I move the left margin guard to the necessary position and basically leave it. (As i mentioned earlier. This margin guard appears cintzy but it works well. It holds the paper in place). I do verify with the gridlines and put my left hand on slightly to ensure it stays in place. I have also cut small piece that were near the cuttling edge. Those you will need to hold in place or use postit notes to ensure they dont slip. That works for me. I recommend you give this product a try. Amazon will stand by it, if you want to return it. Answer:	I use mine for cutting 12 x12 papers. The table width is 12.25 with 12 inch markings. With the cutter it is 13 1/8 inches wide Vertical it is a 13 inch board surface and with the cutter is 19 inches. I hope this helps you. BTW I love mine. It is well made, sturdy and cuts beautifully

Answer:	I honestly do not think this would work on cellophane. I use it to cut coupons & can only cut 2 pages of copy paper at a time. If I try more than 2 it won't cut even all the way thru.

Answer:	Yes it will more than work because a pull cutter type trimmer works better for large scale and small scale custom jobs than swing blade ones all i recommend is when cutting keep a half inch away from where the blade starts this is a great tool from X-acto i have used it to cut Hundreds of various types of sheets and haven't replace blade yet so yes i recommend it.

Answer:	I have to put down even pressure to cut normal paper, so although I don't think it can't cut transparent sheets, it would not be without difficulty. May require a couple strokes back and forth.

Answer:	I think it would; I cut 3 sheets of matte paper at a time, and it was a very thick paper. You have to press straight down on the cutter though, otherwise, if you press at an angle it doesn't cut straight or clear through.

Answer:	Yes it is possible as long as the laminate and cardstock together aren't to thick. I have no trouble with it.

Answer:	I have only used it for cutting coupons on the 8 1/2 by 11 paper. It looks big enough to cut 12 x 12 paper. You would have to make sure you manually hold it in place. You may also have to slide it 'up' to cut the bottom of the paper.

Answer:	Yes, it will cut cardstock.
Question:	Is there a scoring blade that can be used with this cutter
Answer:	Not this one, it really uses a "blade" or knife type blade. I have only seen rotary scoring blades, that work in their rotary styles.

Answer:	There is no extendable ruler. The width is 9" from blade to side. I purchased it so I could cut 12x12 paper point to point to make triangles, which it does fabulously.
Question:	Can you see exactly where the cut is being made? I have a rotary cutter that can't cut less than 1" because the blade guide covers it
Answer:	This would be the same as the rotary cutter you currently have in that regard.

Question:	I would need it to cut 13" x 19" glossy photo paper along the 19" side. Will it work for me
Answer:	I bought this unit in Feb 2010, and from the dimensions given on Amazon (23.1 x 11.5 x 2.8 inches), it sounds like it should. Fact is, it won't. The best you can do is 18". I believe those dimensions include the packaging.Still, I like the unit, and have another cutter for my longer length cuts.Sorry for the news, but I hope it helps you make your decision.
