Answer:	No. However, I have removed the top loading notepad, and instead use a soft cover large Moleskine notebook. This way, I can keep it and my cards, pens and other materials in it, open it or just remove the Moleskine, set the padfolio next to my chair and take notes if I have limited desk or table space.

Answer:	No. I can fit my spiral planner in the inside pocket along with leaving the notepad in place, but a 1" binder would not allow the zipper to close.

Of course, you would probably want to remove the notepad. I found it more practical to just let the ring binded paper sit loose and use that slot for full size papers I wanted to store.
