I've heard the really thick ones create too much bounce on the treadmill.

The larger polycarbonate mats are rolled, but as polycarbonate is rigid material it will, when unrolled return to its flat state. Answer:	My mat had white film on it. I only removed one side and left the other on. That side I put face down on the carpet, hence mine doesn't slide around.
