I think it would work great for shorter folks. I'm just 5'6" & it raises me quite a bit. I'm thinking I might just try it while driving next time I'm out. As for staying firm, I haven't used it enough to really know how it will hold up over time, but it's very firm & appears to be really well made.

I too have side airbags built into the seat so strapping around the seat is not a good idea. Answer:	The only way this would help is giving you a little extra height, just as sitting in a higher seated chair would help. As a mother of a physical therapist I'd say practice rising from a sitting position to standing 10 - 50 times as often as you can throughout the day. Eventually you'll be able to do it without using your arms. That will definitely help.

Answer:	It will depend upon your weight. It's a firm cushion but not rock hard. You will not add the 2 inches you seek, but it should be more. It is well made with a good cover. You can always send it back which is why Amazon has grown as it has.

Answer:	Regular foam, if it’s memory foam it’s the worst quality I’ve ever seen. The 2 layers are laughable. They are the same cheep foam with a top layer of 3/4” glued to the bottom layer. The foam was also stained and turning brown. I ordered the Coccyx cushion but I received this one. I can’t attach a picture here so I’ll put it in a review. You could buy the cheapest cushion on Amazon and it would be better quality. I imagine this to be the case with all their cushions.
